after reading your entire post, i see the issue was moving to the US rather than having a cross-cultural American novio. On that i'd agree, but there have been cases to the contrary. The truly Americanized (better educated, a disdain for the crime and grittiness of TJ or Mexico in general) don't seem to hesitate coming here.
