I am sure that some of my distinuished fellow posters to this board would like to have a bonus when traveling through Texas on the way to "studing Latin culture in Nuevo Laredo"/wink/. It seems that San Antonio is a good place for arrival from throughout the country and a great blessing may await you there before making your pilgrimage on to Nuevo Laredo and Boystown. It is in San Antonio that the great shrine to American Heros is located and is famous for the men who had some of the greatest courage the world has ever known. The Alamo was visited by Franklin Delano Roosevelt in 1936 while he was President. Roosevelt will probably be recorded as one of the greatest Presidents in modern times because of his leadership in getting America out of the Depression of the 1929 and early 1930s and for his leadership ability during World War II. The newspaper men accompaning Roosevelt said that he was mentally and phyically worn out before the Alamo trip and some wondered if he was going to make it through the night. The reporters were quite shocked when Roosevelt stepped outside the Alamo after his private tour. He seemed mentally and physically refreshed with a youngful spring to his body. Dont you know they were surprised when they looked at Roosevelt. They probably turned and questionly looked in each others eyes with a silent question-"did you just see what I just saw". Should you come to Texas, you all will be welcome and you will certainly have a good time at Nuevo Laredo or Juarez, but remember that THE ALAMO might really change your life for the better as you stand on its hallowed ground long ago stained with the blood of American heros....................DOCTORGOOD |
