Nice post, and I happen to agree with your assessment that plying chicas with fichas is a good idea in bars like Tropical, Chavelas and Miami. BUT... I have seen plenty of mongers get laid in the far more expedient and cost effective fashion of directly propositioning their prey as well. The chicas generally do like to dance and drink a lot more than they like to go upstairs and the culture of these bars revolves around that to a hugely greater extent than does Adelitas. BUT, if the chica does any sort of semi-regular hotel traffic, the idea of making 50 or so bucks in a 1/2 hour can get even the staunchest fichera's mental cash register humming. You don't HAVE to woo them first if you don't want to. Some mongers I know set limits on the number drinks they will buy a girl before they take her up. There reaches a point of diminishing returns, a point which will vary for every dude in the bar. BTW, the pattern of behavior you attribute to the chicas at Tropical seems to me to be much more prevalent at Pollo Bar.
