and met one of the locals. Since it's not in the zona norte, it's a different crowd. He was an architect and had a car. After we both got smashed buying each other rounds (equally), we jumped in his car and checked out 3 of his favorite places to hang out. I was the only gringo in all of the places and had a great time meeting his favorite waitresses and female bartenders. There's a whole city out there "off the edge of the world" that's defined by the places talked about on the boards. In my experience many Mexicans do seem to know how to enjoy life "con gusto" (with pleasure) more than us more civilized Norteamericanos. Interestingly when he dropped me off at my hotel, he was worried about driving in la zona norte and would never go there himself because he thought it was "muy peligroso" (very dangerous). Regards, |
