Just heard a horror story last night about TB on the frontier...it was on National Public Radio...came on at about 5 AM...so I was too groggy to get the details...but a lot of these guys from MX won't get their TB treated, i.e. by taking the prescribed medication for 18 months...and thus they develop a more severe form which is much more difficult to treat. If they do it right the first time the cost is about 2 grand,...if it gets into the more resistant strain the cost goes up to about hundred grand. El Sol de Tijuana also ran an article about this issue around a year ago. Texas Mike has access to military hospitals in the US ( La Jolla is one he's been to...)and he should know better. He might also be playing the sympathy card, although the leg thing came about when he was hit by car about 2 years ago. He knows where to go to get his ailments taken care of if need be...so I hope he's usin' his head about these things. I thought if I was gonna catch something down there it was gonna be TB (untold hours in wretched bars with people from all over MX...)but my most recent TB test came out negative after 4 years of Zona adventures. The late great Los Angeles author Charles Bukowski had a dormant case of TB for something like 50 years before it became symptomatic, when he was in his 70's... Usamos nuestras cabezas, hombres...
