RH, The same type of sexually violent comic book is also very popular in Japan. One of the "shocking" things for Americans to see on the Japanese subways is the "public reading" of these Japanese comics. Just about every MX comic I have has some level of violence towards women associated with the story-line, although other mitigating elements are frequently introduced...the clergy, social workers, rununciation of one's evil ways after a revelation of some sort, etc...
