Funny you should say that about chicas and the ocean--in Nuevo Larado I just met a girl from Tampico who surprised me when she said she couldn't swim. Otoh, I know 2 sisters there, from Acapulco, who love to swim. Both of them are (naturally) really dark, while the Tampico chica is light. Maybe it differs by region or even by social class or social aspirations, the Tampico chica is pretty slick and sophisticated while the two Acapulquenas (?) seem more naive and humble...
