I've been following the news closely on four different boards and I'm not terribly concerned about the so-called crack-downs. Once I get there I will post updates about this situation.

Looking at the calendar I see that I've been going to Thailand every 2.5 months! This will be my 4th trip in Feb.

Richard, perhaps we can hook up. I'll be there from Feb 8th to March 7th if anyone out there wants to meet up. Most of that time will probably be in Pattaya. I want to check out Phuket but I can't seem to find accomodations online for a reasonable price. It's high season now and the rates are just to rich for my blood. Pattaya has a glut of rooms and a good room for a good price can always be found.

Let me explain my absence from Club Hombre. At first I was posting quite a bit about Nogales, Mexico and my first impressions of Thailand. I intended to keep that up and I feel bad about not following through as I told Hombre I would, but on my second trip I started spending most of my time with one girl. Most of my experiences were just too personal to share here on the board.

Where will the relationship with this Thai girl go? Right now I honestly don't know. The odds are against us considering cultural and linguistic differences, not to mention the complexity of bringing her to the US. She's also fully aware of the challenges we face. We continue to learn more about each other and enjoy our time together.

Do I still go out mongering? Hell, yes! I try to keep up with Thai nightlife when I can, but nowhere near what I was doing before I met my girlfriend. I don't even bother with Mexico anymore. I'd rather save the money and just go back to Thailand.

Your story sounds similar to mine with a Thai girl. I was going over there about every three months. I did finally bring her back to the states in September. She also, now has her card to work and a drivers license. It was not easy and very time consuming.

We are going back to Thailand next week. I may look at buying a house in Hua Hin. I like the slower lifestyle of Thailand and the ability to live on the beach in a house that is paid for. I will probably open up a couple of businesses as well.

Ezgab, I'd like to talk to you more about this. I don't think I'll be heading down by Hua Hin, but maybe we can meet in Bangkok.

Ah, don't worry about not posting. Obviously there's no obligation. It's always better if you can find someone you feel comfortable with. Not sure what your price range is but found a very nice place in Phutket (Patong) that I stay at when I'm there. I'll look for the link if you wish?

Hey Ezgab, good luck on your flight next week. I'm starting to miss Thailand myself. Been a year since my last visit. The urge to visit has been extinguished now that my favorita and I are seeing more of each other outside the club and have gotten to know each other better. I too had questions about visas. You had mentioned knowing some girls at AB who had visas and wondered if you had any more info? Drop me an e-mail (still the same) or reply here if you wish.

Hippie posted a link to Orchid Residence in Phuket. That place looks just fine for the low season.

My price range is pretty low. I usually look for places under 800 baht. Prices in Bangkok and Pattaya seem pretty stable regardless of season but I notice some fierce gouging in Phuket, judging by the websites I've visited. Orchid charges 580 baht for a standard room between May 1 and Oct 30, but during high season (now) they charge 1,480 baht for the same room.

I'm beginning to think that I should save a trip to Phuket for this Summer. Maybe I'll use some of my time to finally see Angkor Wat in Cambodia. I've always wanted to see that.

My understanding (possibly incorrect) is that Phuket, especially Patong Beach, is the biggest resort area in Thailand. We saw a LOT of European tourists, especially Germans. The other beaches are cheaper, but a waste of time. ALL the action is at Patong. There are definitely cheaper places than where we stayed, but not good ones that are drastically cheaper.

Harold Johnson, if you find that hotel link, please post it. I selected the Orchid because of a recommendation, and would be happy to hear others.

I think Hippie is correct - when going to Phuket the only place for mongers to stay is Patong Beach or just outside of Patong (Karon or Kata to the south, forget the name of the place to the north). Personally, i'd stick to Patong Beach itself for the convenience.

I've been a few times and the best go-go bars seem to be Rock Hard and Playschool. The freelancers on the street are not that attractive and the one's that are attractive are usually guys - so watch out for those.

Do not forget to go to Christin's massage. I'm pretty sure it is the only place in Phuket that has the fish bowl setup with soapy massage deal. Make sure you go up the stairs to the left as there is also a massage (regular) to the right as you walk in. I know a few people who have gone to Patong and didn't know about Christin's or went to the right instead of up and to the left. Needless to say, those boys were devastated.

Just booked EVA Evergreen Deluxe for 2/13. I have never been addicted to an illegal substance in my life, but Thailand just keeps calling out to me like my body belongs there! Got a good rate for booking online... less than $1k. This will be my third trip in four months and, as always, I cannot fucking WAIT for this trip. I swear, I'm a kid going to Disneyland!

Would love to hook up with others who have Thai plans between 2/14 and 3/10. I know, it's a month! I have a business idea which may lead to me travelling more to Thailand in the future. OK fine, it sounded good to my partner!!!

Yea, with as much time as we will both be there, we may see eachother and not even know it until we arrange a drink spot. Hell, last month I was spotted by the only barfine I didn't like, so at 6'9'', balding and a few pounds over, I'm hard to miss.

I expect to pretty much arrive at the airport and hit the bus or taxi to Pattaya. I'm taking Eva Air this time, so I should be arriving in the morning and be in Pattaya before the bars open.

I cannot fucking WAIT for this trip, but I say that everytime I go. That's OK, it's not getting old.

The FLB bar is a good expat bar to hook up at. My problem is I barfined a virgin (yea sure) last time that I have no plans of repeating, and I just KNOW she'll be all over me when she sees me. Nevertheless, it's the only bar I know by name down on Walking Street. So if you want to hook up there on Friday night 2/15, say 6, it works for me!

Ahora, first, I'm not sure if I'll be in Pattaya by the 14th. I'm pretty spontaneous and I like to sort of make up my travels as I go along. Right now I'm still in Bangkok, but I'm thinking of heading up country for a bit but I'm still undecided. I'll check back here again soon and maybe we'll hook up in Bangkok if I'm still here on the 13th. Who knows, maybe I'll meet you in Bangkok and we can head down to Pattaya together. I just don't want to make any promises now.

Do you have a room booked in Bangkok? If your flight arrives late at night, like mine usually do, it's no fun to hunt for hotels after a long flight. I recommend something in the Sukhumvit area between Sois 4 and 20. That will put you in prime hunting territory.

I wouldn't worry too much about finding a room in Pattaya. The place has a glut of hotels and all of that competition keeps prices low there. You'll have a full range of options open to you. It really comes down to what your requirements/preferences are for accomodations. I prefer a/c, a fairly quiet room, and a comfortable bed, but I don't care too much about all the extras. I usually spend about 800-900 baht/night in Pattaya for a room.

The one wild card here is that it's currently Chinese New Year and a lot of people are on holiday now, so the rooms might be a bit dearer. You might have to hunt around a bit in the touristy areas of Bangkok, but I still don't think you'll have a problem in Pattaya.

If money is no problem you can hire a car to Pattaya for 1,500-2,000 baht, or you can take the a/c bus for 90 baht like me. Both options take 90-120 minutes. The bus gives you a better taste of Thailand and you might meet someone if you get lucky on the seating. I'll write more about this under the transportation topic.

Ezgab, are you still in Thailand? I'd like to talk to you if you find your way up from Hua Hin. Maybe I can meet you in Bangkok before you fly out.

I'm having way too much fun here in Bangkok. It's more expensive than Pattaya, but Nana has lots of hot new talent, the new Dollhouse on Soi Cowboy rocks, and even Clinton Plaza is making something of a comeback. If you're interested in seeing some of the better places in Bangkok before you head down to Pattaya I'll be happy to show you around.

Guys, I just got to Pattaya today. It's 7:30pm now and after I finish up with email I'm heading out to grab a bite and then grab some ladies. Maybe tomorrow might be good to meet at FLB on walking street around 7pm.
