Dickjohnson, but May 7th is a Tuesday, not a Saturday! I'll be departing for BKK on Sunday, May 5th, arriving on the 6th at 11pm or so. Sounds like a neat trip your taking, always wanted to see Bali myself. Cambodia I've visited twice, fun in a wild-west sort of way, especially if you like Vietnamese women, which I do! Inquire at Dynasty Inn on Soi Nana, maybe we can hit a few bars one night. I'll tell front desk I'm aka Bingo.

I am one day behind you. I leave for Thailand on the 24th and return on the 1st of June. This will be my third trip in 6 months, with the two month excursion set to begin on July 4th. I will be staying by the 'Grand Palace'. We could probably hook up some time that week

Scooter, how bad are the rains in Pattaya now? Iève never been to Thailand other than in Jan and Feb, would like to go sooner but I!ve been warned that the street flood, etc...

Been here since Monday and it hasn't rained yet... Last summer I speant about 2 months here and the rains generally just came late after noon around 4:00 - 5:00 PM then cleared by 7:00 so it really had no effect on the stay. It can rain hard but I have never seen Patttaya flood.

here's an update, i arrive in phuket on 6/23 and depart on 6/28. there are six of us staying in two, three bedroom villas (2,400 sf apiece) in the cove (Kamala Beach) just north of Patong Beach. half of us are coming from US other half from HKG. should be a real good time. let me know if anyone plans to be in phuket at that time, would like to hook up with fellow hombres and share stories. will post full trip report upon my return.

I'll be back in Thailand in mid-July, staying for about 4 weeks. I'm thinking of a side trip of a few days in Cambodia if anyone is interested in going.

I've even created "quick reference cards" for locations, prices, things to try, places to avoid, etc. Sing and BKK are the easiest locations to get information on, toughest has been Taipei /Taiwan, but available.

Going to BKK from Nov 29 to DEC 30 2002. At some point during my trip, I want to travel to Phnom Phen, Cambodia to take in Angor Wat and K11 and Sharky's, etc. I am looking for someone that want's to meet in BKK and travel together to Phnom Phen, see the Angkor Wat ruins together on one day, and spend the other day or two doing our own things. (For me entertaining a girl from K11 perhaps.) Is anyone up for the trip??? I am a quiet, easy-to-get-along-with, 30-something that has been to Thailand last year for my first trip. I am American (Anglo) and don't speak much Thai (about 20-30 words). I mainly am looking for someone that wants to make the trip, but doesn't feel like taking on the danger of being a lone-whiteboy in Cambodia without language skills. My thought is that two guys can travel into Cambodia a bit more safely and watch each others backs. Advice and tips about Cambodia are welcome, as well as potential trip buddies. Rasta, I might go during that time frame if I can catch a courier flight. That time of year is good for courier flights if I recall correctly. I'd definitely be up for Cambodia. I haven't written a Cambodia summary yet, but if you have any questions, post them in the Asia or Cambodia section and I'll try to answer. I think I got a pretty good handle of the scene while I was there. IndyLA and McDijj are also experienced there, some others I can't recall off the top of my head.

I was reading your posts on this thread from Jan/Feb and am intrigued to know how you and your Thai girlfriend's relationship is doing. Did you ever see Cambodia (apologize in advance for not searching the rest of the board) and Angkor Wat?

I've only been to Thailand once, but I also am know hooked for life, I fear. If only I could retire and do nothing but travel... Anyway, I am going back in December for a month and hope to see Angkor Wat, also. Needless to say I can't wait! Best wishes. - Rasta

Rasta, I just got back a couple of weeks ago after spending another month in Thailand. Once again, I never made it to Cambodia. I have no problem going all over the place in Thailand by myself, but I would prefer going to Cambodia with at least one other friend to watch my back. Maybe the place isn't that bad anymore, but knowing the history there I have a creepy feeling about Cambodia.

I think the relationship with my Thai girl has run its course. It was a good year together, but the problems seem to be overcoming us. I just spoke to her yesterday. We still stay in touch, but I think it's best if we both move on. I can't tell you how much I've learned from her about Thailand, its people, and the real world behind the facade of the bar world.

I'm also a bad boyfriend because I'm such a hopeless butterfly. Only 2 days after saying goodbye to her I met 2 more ladies I want to know better. Oh, where will it all end. Hopefully not with the revenge of a jealous girlfriend!
