The Bay Area Mongers meeting Friday was a kick. The Senator and I had picked out this cool little Mexican dive for the location and atmosphere and it worked our great. We knocked off work early and had comida across the street from the meeting place.

We got over to the dive around four and started drinking. The BIG bleach blonde waitress remembered us from our scouting trip the week before. She was looking for my bud, Rooster, but he couldn't make it Friday. The cute little waitress remembered us too. She didn't come anywhere near us all night! TuTall came wandering in after a little bit. It was good to meet a fellow sportsman and we started to swap a few stories. Yoosin then joined us and started telling stories of great deeds in far off lands. The beer was flowing and the sun was still up.

Then the Aneemals Aneemals Aneemals showed up! Cityog and Valentino came strolling in like they owned the place. Cityog popped a few bucks into the jukebox and started playing Adelita Bar music, which really started to make the mood. Valentino showed off his 2001 Adelita Bar calendar. But, the guys didn't bring their pictures or scrap book.

It was a blast hearing wild-assed adventure stories from everyone. The tales of clandestine missions and international intrigue would make a great movie script. Both Valentino and Cityog had horror stories to tell about cel phones. But, Valentino actually brought his to the bar. I don't know what we're going to do with him! I told him to throw the thing in the toilet.

The beer kept flowing and the big waitress started shooting the shit with Valentino. Then, she brought him a rubber from the machine in the bathroom! I'll leave it up to him to tell us what that was all about.

Cityog filled me in on a recent conversation he had with one of my favorite chicas. We worked on a "Comm Plan" so that we should be able to get messages to some of our favs before our trips.

The beer kept flowing and the big waitress was loving the tips. She brought over a paper plate of Fritos and Cityog busted up "Uh OH!! It's the CHEESE PLATE!" I was pretty hammered at this point and it actually felt like we were at Tropical for a second.

The music was loud and guys started getting into individual conversations. After a while, some of the guys had to go. I was still expecting Rooster to show up. A couple of the guys decided they wanted to check out a local titty bar. The Senator and I decided to go try to find Rooster.

We didn't find him so we joined Tutall and Image109 at the titty bar. The place was pretty lame. Although, the chicks were nice looking and friendly, the rules of the place didn't allow too much fun. I was drunk as a skunk by that time. A local pro must have noticed our frustration and mongerish attitudes. As we were leaving, she followed us out and propositioned me. I joked around with her for a few minutes before we left. She was pretty nasty! We called it a night.

The Rooster got in to my place from out of town around 3:00 AM. The next evening we went back to the meeting place. The big waitress was happy to see Rooster and started yapping with him in Spanish. My Spanish really blows, so I was just checking things out. We noticed a chica sitting with this barracho drinking pony beers! Hey, this looks familiar! Every time the guy would get up, the chica would smile at me. Then, Rooster noticed that the chica got tickets with her pony beers! I wanted to see how that turned out, but Rooster wasn't feeling well, so we took off early. I've got to go back there and check it out some more.

I regret not making it as, ironically, I have never met any of the other Bay Area mongers. The weather combined with a cold combined with just being the day after a 2-week TJ trip left me wanting to stay in my little studio apartment in Santa Cruz.

How was the trip?

I ended up in the hospital after this trip! The wifey was kind of sick the day before I left and the morning of my flight I was late and missed it, I ended up on stand by. I got the 7:20 flight only to be taken out of my seat because two older folks were flying to the east coast, I had a temperature and did not feel like dealing with the counter peoples crap so I took the 100 dls. voucher and took the 8:55 flight. Crazy Pinoy and
Guero were already on SD and they had an Expedition waiting. We checked into Hotel America and headed for Monte Carlo Massage, this is a must for Shadow and Senator. I will continue with the post later, but this was one of my better trips.

I'll be back in the Zona on the 25th, in AB in the afternoon/early evening... if any sire finds me, I'll be pleased to buy him a cerveza.

Some friends and I are headed down this Saturday night and I had a question or two that I hoped I could find out here. Last time we went on a Saturday night, parking was insane. Anyone have recommendations for parking? Also, where is a good place to rent a room? We may end up just crashing down there... Thanks for any help.

I always stay at the Travel lodge, you can walk to the border, then take a taxi to the zona. or in the day time you can walk all the way takes about 40 min.

Sunthief, I like the Motel 6 in San Ysidro. It's right next to some good eats and you can jump on the Mexicoach (in the nearby parking lot by the discount outlets) for a measly buck. The Mexicoach will dump you off on the Revolucion.

Stay at the Hotel Cascadas right over the Las Chaveles bar, $28 a night.

There's no problem getting rooms at Cascadas as long as you get there before 3:00 PM. I had a great room a couple weekends ago. As a matter of fact I'll be checking in this Saturday afternoon. ... prog
