This is my first trip to Rio. I'll be there from 3/1 thru 3/6. My portugese is non-existent, how big of of draw back is this gonna be? It sounds like I have to make a trip to VIPS. After many months of lurking here, I have an opportunity to take an organized tour (I know not the best for sporting) to Sao Palo (May 18 - 21), BA (May 22 - 25) and Santiago (May 26 - 30). I'll be arriving in Rio Sat. 3/22 for my first Rio Trip. Would love to join up with some fellow mongers to learn the scene.

I will be in Rio from April 1 to 10. This will be my 4th trip to the capital of pleasure. Plan to pay my first visit to Centaurus and spend more time in Help disco (just for the fun of the game!). If everything goes well, I should also make a trip to Buzios with "minha amorada" or any garota available on the market. Let see how it goes...

$35 per night sounds reasonable this time of the year; but Arpoador Hotel is not 3 but maybe 6 or 7 blocks to Help disco (but anyway, still a good walking distance -- if you do not mind swatting away pesky transvestites on your way there.

The universities (UERJ is one) are always a good place to find nice non-pros in any city (and quite a few speak English). Bookstores/cafes are also a good spot (I like the one in Ipanema with a cyber/cafe). By and large Cariocas are very friendly and approachable.

Anyone interested in planning a MANAUS run this fall (september/october) time frame.

I am interested in mostly non-pros, who are supposedly easy to pick up as they want to flee Manaus ASAP...with pros as back-up plan.

wow, first time in rio. prepare yourself, but don't overestimate quality of help. you may be disappointed. termas should not disappoint, especially for first timers though. i think i am just getting too spoiled and picky for my own good...or maybe i just need a girlfriend and am looking for the wrong type of affection with putas. whatever the case, my first trip to rio was mindblowing.
