My buddy and I are going on our 2nd TJ trip Nov 5-7 2001 (Mon-Wed). Our first was Feb 2001. We went to AB and CC last time there. We live on the East Coast so this is a major trip for us!
What advice can you give us about any changes since our last trip there? (ie-border crossing, prices, clubs, etc...)
Is anyone else going to be in TJ on the above dates?

I'll be heading down to TJ for my 3rd trip on Nov 3-5. Not sure if I'll go on Sat just cuz of the possible long wait back. My goal is to sample the MPs, Azteca MP (I separated Azteca b/c it's a "real" MP as opposed to New Body and Mermaids - which are some I plan to check out), and then to AB or CC. I'm shooting for the daytimes, but will hang out until the evenings. May even check out the strip clubs, but after reading up on them, there doesn't seem to be too many that are decent due to the fact that I really don't want to deal with TVs. Any monger want to meet up?

Shadow, Senator how about the 18th,19th,20th of Nov? I might just make it down there.

I will be at AB and Tropical Sunday night with Crazy-Pinoy y el Guapo. Pinoy usually wears a 49r's hat and shorts. I will probably wear a black jacket with blue jeans and el Guapo who knows. You could probably find us to the right side of HC, by the second dance floor.
In TB we will probably be by the left handside towards the men's restroom. Hope to see a few of you guys there.

Hell yes you can negotiate them down. Red is far better at it than I am but if they truly believe that you are going to leave if they don't drop the price, and especially if you look like a heavy drinker (Redongdo), it can frequently be done.

I am VERY interested in a Bay Area Monger's Convention as I have yet to meet any of my Norte California brothers. Redwood City (again) or a more "productive" city like SF would be allot of fun.

Valentino, FYI, Dec. 31 is the WORST night of the year in the zona, with the possible exception of Christmas Eve. Last year, there were a few doable girls on New Year's Eve, but not many. The year before I counted a total of 2 hotties in the entire zona, and they were pretty much doing the revolving door thing.

I wish I was an expert on the bars on International. Unfortunately, I don't speak any spanish and as white as they come. Any other Oakland locals that could check out these places and recommmend a safe haven would be appreciated.

Valentino, to put it in even better perspective, a friend came with me on New Year's Eve '99. He is a NL Boystown vet, but it was his first time in TJ. He spent SIX HOURS bar hopping before he found one girl worth going up with. Keep in mind. this is a guy whose standards drop rapidly as time passes. I never did find a girl I wanted, and we drove back to L.A. with me in a really lousy mood. The only good thing about the trip was that I finally ventured out of CC, AB, and HK; the rest, as they say, is history. It took a lot of arm twisting to get him to come out here again after that, but he is now a confirmed zona fan. Last year was better, but I am not optimistic about this year. If you can hold off making plans for a couple of weeks, wait and see what the vets are saying about the zona by mid-December. That will be a pretty good yardstick, based on previous years.

No puedo, Shadow, but I will say hi for you. Also, things are not dead right now, but they may be soon, based on previous years. However, last night was perhaps the best night I have EVER seen in TJ, selection-wise, so who knows what will happen in December this year.
