I agree with Sandman. Use Don from Riotrips. He'll make sure you waste no time, avoid any scams and best of all, introduce you to all the other guys from this board who are in town. You'll immediately be "one of the guys" which makes the time spent between mongering a lot more fun.

Our last night in Buzios is the 2nd, but my friend (based on past year's experience) says we must not be committed to returning to Rio for Jan/3-5. In the past, he's hooked up with locals and nonpros that have had him going to various cities, islands, events... one year he met a great krewe that took him by helicoptor for 2 nights at some other spot.

But, if I end up going (75%?), we can trade emails in the days before and potentially meet on Jan/3 or /4.

Have fun in Buzios. I'll be in Rio until the 19th so I'm sure we'll run into each other in Church or doing the charity work we both do so much of. :-)

Angryant, I'm a climber too. I was planning to check out Sugarloaf and Corcovado in late Nov., but it looks like I'll miss you by a week - I've got to be back in the states for work at the beginning of Dec.

They aren't on the program, but I'll probably use RioHiking as a climbing guide. They offer hiking that includes a section of climbing here and there, but I will probably use their services to tour local crags and cliffs... and clean up afterwards in a terma shower.
