Hey Wombat I will catch you on the flip side. This will be my second trip to Phuket but my first on mongering. Phuket is actually pretty dam cheap to get to from Singapore, so next time your out will try to hook up and see how many times we can screw up and not get laid! I was going to go to Bangkok, but a local friend of mine convinced that I might enjoy the more laid back small scene atmoshpere of Phuket. Plus it is going to be easier on my the wallet, which is a concern as I have a whirlwind Hong Kong, AC, Amsterdam itineary at the beginning of June.

Good news for me is that Bangkok and Pattaya aren't going anywhere and I can easily and cheaply make weekend trips up there. Moving to Singapore is one of the good decisions I have made in my life.

I spent only one night in Singapore and was not impressed with Orchid (Orchard?) Towers. I can see why you feel a need to get out of town once in a while ... but Amsterdam? I mean, that's where I got my start, but after experiencing SEA, there's no turning back for me.

I'm actually seriously thinking of a move to that part of the world myself (so long as I can find work).

As for Phuket, this is a great time of the year to be there. Furthermore, with all the troubles in the South, you'll be welcomed more than ever as so many tourists are avoiding the place.

My only advice is to stick with the beer bars. I found the talent in the go-gos to be lacking (not to mention over-priced). I encourage you to visit the Tai Pan dance joint as the babes there are primo.

Work is taking me to Amsterdam, of course while there I will enjoy the pleasures I can't here. I'll save the mongering here in SEA. Smart traveling means taking advantage of a places strong suit.

Don't be so tough and jaded on OT and Singapore in gerneal. Singapore is a great place to party you just can't let P2P be the focus. Just like paying for sex in Amsterdam is stupid, but sightseeing and partying in Amsterdam is very smart!

My trip is coming up in 3 months...I will be asking questions along the way.

I have been reading the usual reports and intro's. I am wondering whether, giving your extended stay, you can advice on places to stay in BKK that have not allready been talked about? How about short trips based of BKK? Any favorite island getaways? I plan at one point to go chill in an island away from everyone and bringing a girl -hopefully two but that may be impossible- and hang by a quiet beach? Recommendations?

Concarne -- I think your best bets if you just want romantic peace and quiet are Koh Samet -- just off coast by Rayong or Koh Chang-- just off coast by Trat . Both are less than a 2 hour bus ride from BKK with short boat trip. Beautiful beaches not huge crowds. Both are great BYOP venues.

I will be in Bangkok on the night of June 4th thru the morning of June 8th. If anyone is in town and interested in getting together I will be staying somewhere on Sukumvit around soi 10.

I'll be in Thailand, on a convenient layover between Seoul and Singapore, from June 25-28. Being that I have the entire weekend scheduled specifically for mongering, I wonder if the LOS experts could volunteer some info for an experienced traveler for the first time in Thailand (technically it is my second time, but the first where I'll be able to hobby).

Lanzan, read some of the reports in the trip reports section and take a few notes. Among others, Xenono and D'artagnan's back and forth in Thailand report is still an amazingly informative and entertaining report.

One thing I'd HIGHLY recommend is to get a room in whatever price range you're comfortable with near the Nana Sky Train station as you'll be right in the middle of go go/beer bar/brothel action and almost all hotel options there are as monger friendly as one can possibly expect.

I have been reading a good bit and have decided to visit Pattaya rather than Bangkok. The sheer quantity of PFP action has me a bit intimidated, but I am really going to make the best of my time there. I do not speak ANY Thai and could really use a friendly guide at least to get going the right way. Is Thai food in Thailand as good as it is in the USA? based on the # of pics on posted here I am assumming that it can be done, but does it cost more? How much more?

You do not need to speak any Thai. Just know that:

Thai food in America vs Thailand is like comparing watching a porn movie vs having the porn star in your bed and fucking YOU!! In other words, Thai food, in Thailand, is REMARKABLY good!!

I NEVER offer more up front for pics. Sometimes a girl will ask for more. If she's been VERY accomodating (some girls have given me 2-300 pics per photo shoot) I might throw in some gravy. Also, if they are extremely hot and/or DEMAND it, and I'm horny enough I gotta say yes, treat it like ANY negotiation and START INCREDIBLY LOW baht-wise. I've been able to get VERY shy and/or money hungry girls to give me some GREAT pink shots for just an extra 1-200. However most of the time I don't give a girl ANY extra for pics unless she's been VERY accomodating (action shots) or given me an incredible quantity (I have over 500 pics of one Pattaya freelancer). Since your there for only several days I think the choice of Pattaya is a good one especially now. The bars in Pattaya are a lot more fun than those in BKK now. You can cram in more sessions per day more easily in Pattaya as well. More daytime bars etc. Soi 6 is great spot for daytime
or numerous beer bars open all day with some excellent choice pooying hidden among the worn out sows. Also Tahitian Queen II is on Soi 13- has some really hot dancers and opens early in the day. No daytime go-gos in BKK.
99% of the mongers in Thailand speak little or no Thai and the BG's seem to be busy anyway. Do not let the lack of language put you off. My very first trip I spoke no Thai and it is still one of my most memorable-- enough to keep me going back for another 18 years or so. You raelly do not need a guide in Pattaya . Walk out of your hotel room and try NOT to find pussy-- cannot be done !!!

I've been browsing for the past couple of weeks and took the plunge! Will be in Thailand 6/26 for a week or so. Anyone else? (Dynasty Inn in BKK and Pattaya.) As I am looking for any advice available prior to my trip...I would also like to be a "contributor" upon my return home.

Specific advice:
acceptable clothing (shorts?), gifts (for the ladies), where to download a map (general club/bar lay out of BKK and Pattaya areas), best bars/clubs to go to, best way to get to hotel from airport...and any little tips that may help keep me from getting scammed!

If there are any other guys from the board that will be in those places at those times, please stand up and be counted, as 'the more the merrier' really is a good adage when hobbying. Looks like Ilaw will be in Pattaya (and the Philippines) at the same time, and MongerX and I should be able to hang out for about a week between Thailand, Indonesia and Singapore. And Bwana Dik has already mentioned that he will in BKK on 7/7.

Hopefully I can drag Epi to AC sooner rather than later. While I don't get as bored there as many have discussed here (I actually have been far MORE bored in the daytime in Pattaya), it's ALWAYS more fun when there are board members around to hang out with.

I am going to make the trip to the PI's sometime in late July/ early August. I am waiting to see what 4 or 5 day stretch will see the most board members in AC before I purchase tickets.

Now if I can only pursuade you to move to Asia so you can understand that its really much better to just get a couple of them 3-5 day visits a month than to do those long ass plane rides and two week cram session trips a couple times a year.

Actually, I am bumming because I need to make a three week trip back to the states this summer. Unfortunately, I am running out of time and excuses. I am not looking forward to experiencing that sexless hyper sensitive environment again. I feel for all of you men who live back there.

Senioreric If you plan on doing any hobbying - stay somewhere else or plan on using short time hotels if you barfine,or soapies for your pleasures . I am almost certain the Marriot by the river is NOT guest friendly as opposed to the JW Marriot by NEP. Someone correct me if they know for sure.

I am actually packing up my apartment in Bangkok and moving to pattaya as of the 10th of October. I am going to keep a small studio in bangkok however, as I have many friends there and will most likely be there at least two weekends a month. I stayed last year from june 03 to june 04, and that was one year of overload, lol. I will be preped and ready when you hit the tarmak, so keep me posted. I know your a vet in the pat, but I have a few great places to stay if you're open to suggestions. Just let me know. i have the feeling that this could get ugly, lol.
