Thanks for yet another very informing advice. I have just 2 questions left. Should i go in July or December? Can u tell me which is cheapest, because my estimates for 21 day is like 8,915.20 US Dollar for flight, food, girls, hotel and some extra cash. And in which month will have the lowest number of tourism, dont want it to be way too crowded.

Late December is the worst time of the year, so I would choose July. As far as your budget, it's actually a little high. There are more than a few sample budgets posted on CH, but the general consensus is that hotel/apartment, taxis, food/beverage and garotas (terma run and all nighter) is no more than $300 per day. Of course, with the real a solid 10-15% stronger now than a few months ago, $300 is probably fairly accurate.

So, 300 x 21 = $6300. Let's make it $6,500 to cover a few duplas here and there. If you're in the US, you should pay no more than $1,000 for coach airfare, less usually. So, now you're at $7,500.

With the latest shitty exchange rate, what will the $300 budget get? Let's assume $75 a night for hotel/apartment, $15 for taxi (less on weekends when you're not going to Centro), breakfast is free, lunch say $10 and dinner say $15. So, $115 for a couple of huge meals, taxis, hotel, etc. The remaining $185 or so will get you: an all-nighter, budget $90. For the day activity, $95 for the terma. Lets assume 4x4, and you get there early, so $95 will get you two sessions but just barely. At other termas, that will get you one session with dollars left over.

Of course, you can save money by staying at the Atlantico for $50 a night, grabbing a light lunch like a sandwich or a kilo place (no more than $6-7) and get your non-garota expenses down to about $80 per day. That extra $25 per day will go a long way, especially in termas.

If you stay cellibate it really saves you money. Seriously though, my budget runs about $ 2,000 with ticket by staying in apartments, eating large free breakfasts late one big cheap other meal with yogurt, sandwich-bring your own peanut butter, or cereal snacks between from grocery stores, getting laid once a day( I'd rather go there more times a year than get laid more times a trip), and getting your ticket at skyauction.com months in advance for $450 to $650 depending on the season you're bidding and competition. I usually check it once every couple of weeks and get my ticket 3 to 6 months in advance, pay for it, and set the date 3-4 weeks before I go. Any other side trips or vices are either added on to that or days I don't get laid in exchange for something else, which sometimes translates to several freebie sessions with girls who appreciate being treated nice or just want a break from a tough grind of a life.

OK boys, after two years (and a major sanuking trip to South East Asia), I'm heading back to Brazil for my second trip. I arrive Tuesday, Jan 25, for a three-week stay (I might even make lunch at Alcazar that first day) I was on a budget on my last trip (aren't we all?) but even more so this time as I have to squeeze another week out of the same bag of dough. No 3-somes THIS time, but a trip to VIP's will certainly be in order (Snooky, that's where you'll find the love chair in the photo above).

I'm still not sure about staying in Rio for Carnival, it's tempting if only to "get the t-shirt." I'm certainly going to visit Paraty, however.

I am going to stay at BS's apartments (after reading Wicked Willy's trip report...how could I pass that up?). Crap, crap, crap, crap, crap, crap, crap ... Skyauction has screwed me again. After telling me last week that I was booked for a flight next week, they tried to get me to leave this Friday. Well, that's no good because I have plans for the weekend. Now they tell me I can't leave until February 8. I am sooooo pissed. Having just finished a contract job, I'm sitting on my butt now and could really use a Rio holiday. The chances of getting picked up for more work by the second week of February are good, so I might be freezing my nuts off quite some time.

Why not just stay at Everest Rio?

That hotel is the next block diagonal from Ipanema Inn, Caesar Park, the Visconti and a few other places. Take your pic of spots, Everest is on the main street (Viscondi da Paraja') in Ipa, nice neighborhood, very safe.

Man, it kills me 'cause I'm ready to leave right now (we've had temperatures of minus 20 and 30 here). I can get a ticket easily enough, but being tied to the skyauction smegheads is bringing me down.

First of all I would like to thank everyone who ever posted a report on Rio after reading Bwana,Don Gringo, Wicked Willy, Athos, Brasil Specialist reports it was a very easy choice where to go. Will be town April 16-22. Staying over at B.S. place. Going to use Don's and Rhonda's guide service. Hope to see you around and buy you a drink.

I will be RIo between March 3 to 10.

This is my 4th time there in 12 months. The previous 3 times were all business trips so I didn't have much time to venture around other than hitting the termas. I don't speak any Portugese neither.

Anyway, would be nice to hook up with some Hombres while I am there. I am staying at an apartment on Rua Siqueira Campos 1 block from the beach.

Well, I've crossed the Rubicon, so to speak. I arrive in Rio at noon on Feb 8th (for a two-week jaunt). It bums me out not to be leaving next week, 'cause I just know Rio will be more fun the week before carnival as the schools practice. Well, at least I'm forced to experience one night of carnival.

There not completely unfriendly, but the policy is you pay each time you bring a girl in, and she must leave before 6 or 7 a.m. Pretty bad in my estimation.

Try the Princess Copacabana or the Copacabana Atlantico.
