Don't miss "Le Marche" in Le Palace, if you like about 35 columbiana's in white thongs lined up, stepping to the pulsing music...and in GT you get to sit and have all those chicas parade in for a quick grin and curtsy!

I know you will fill us in on the "latest and the greatest" of PTY:-)
And I know you won't have to worry about doing any currency conversion/calculations in your head (grin).
Would you be interested in doing some Colombian Pesos calculations with me that week or the next in CTG and maybe MDE? sf4dfish

I am headed back to Panama on the 20th of April for 3 weeks. I am trying to find out any good info on clubs and ladies in the Colon area.
By Cse_ceo on Friday, April 30, 2004 - 12:43 pm: Edit |
Scottielow, you'll be in Colon at the same time I'll be in Panama city May 6th to 9th.
Colon can be fun but I find it a little too wild west - you don't want to wander the streets late at night and drunk. I didn't get in trouble but the atmosphere is a bit slimmy. The quality of the establishments and the girls is mediocre I found. Not to say I didn't have some good times. Be well and enjoy.

Hi Cse_Ceo, give you opinion of the service I offer here in PTY. REMEMBER anyone coming to Panama don't miss my girls. You won't regret it.

I'm in Panama now, plans have changed so I'll be here for two weeks... It would be nice to have a little female companionship around Panama City, and perhaps going on some trips to Portobello, Las Perlas, and Boco Del Toros... Any suggestions?
Also wouldn't mind meeting up with some guys for a night on the town to check out the nightclub action.

Hotel Montreal?

Right on the spot..Seems like you really know Hotel Montreal. Yea she was very sweet I'd recommend her as the best of all I have.
By Alecjamer on Sunday, September 12, 2004 - 02:44 pm: Edit |
Latinoqlion -
I stayed at the Hotel Montreal once. In some of Gilliana's photos I thought I recognized the grassy hill sloping down to Via Espana outside the window. Purely a guess.
I had an unpleasant experience at this hotel.
The hotel looked good from the outside and I assumed the rooms were okay...so I prepaid 2-nights ($40) before actually looking at the room. I also pre-paid a $50 security deposit box key deposit.
When I checked in it was still in the morning and most guests had not already checked-out, so they had limited rooms ready. The room they gave me was on the first floor in the very back corner of the building next to the grassy sloped hill. The first floor room windows would not lock, the room was not well lit, and the a/c blew warm air.
I returned to the lobby and asked for another room with locking windows and a better a/c unit. The second room they gave me overlooked the same grassy slope, and it was high up on the 4th or 5th floor. This room was smaller, which wasn't a big deal to me, but the a/c unit was still a piece of crap.
Frustrated and ready to go elsewhere, I returned to the lobby and requested my money back ($40 pre-paid for two night stay, plus $50 deposit on the safe deposit box key). I told the hotel manager that I wanted to find a different hotel.
The hotel manager told me that she could refund only half my money. I got pissed real quick. I threatened to call the cops. The hotel manager defiantly told me, "go ahead". This really pissed me off because I didn't know how to call the cops, let alone explain to them, in Spanish, what the problem was!
An American who overheard my complaining took me aside and told me that in Panama once you pay for a room you've basically agreed to accept the room as is.
I thought about my predicament for a moment. Given that my Spanish is not good enough to give the cops a convincing arguement...I decided to calm down and be a little more tactful.
I told the hotel manager that I would give her their safe deposit key back if they gave me my full deposit back. Fortunately she agreed that a deposit is indeed a deposit...she laid $50 out on the counter and I handed her the safe deposit box key.
Once I had the $50 in my wallet, I told her I would accept her offer to refund 50% of the money I paid for the room. I laid the room key on the counter and she went into her cash box and returned to me $20 of the original $40. She took the key back and expected me to leave.
As soon as I had the $20 back in my wallet, I said, "what the hell, I suppose I can stay here one night". The hotel manager gave me a look of...you are pissed-off...why? I told her that although the a/c is no good, I did paid her $20 for the room...I will use it for the night. (I was thinking that I would still rent another room at another hotel with better a/c and keep the room at Hotel Montreal booked for the period I already paid).
I didn't know what would happen next. I thought the hotel manager might point to the door and I would be out $20.
The hotel manager scratched her head in an attempt to re-think the twists and turns of this business transaction. So far I managed to get $70 of my $90 back...I was surprised when she gave me a key to yet a third room. This third room was as small as the second, but it had good a/c and hot water, so I spent the night and broke even...the next day, I checked-in to Hotel California down the street (much better hotel $25/day or $20/day for two days or more)...lesson learned...always check-out the hotel room before paying just to make sure it meets your expectations.
Are you willing to share Gilliana's contact info? Is she a working girl or one you picked-up? She's very good looking and seems somewhat uninhibited to photo-taking. To be direct, I'd like to fuck her, if you don't mind.
Thanks.

Mark -
Read my on-line Panama guide for tips and the link to Panama City's Yellow Pages...print a copy of the Yellow Page listings (3-4 pages) and take it with you on your trip...all the massage parlor names, numbers and street addresses. Vladmir and Sandman also have useful trip reports.
Names of massage parlors....Golden Time, Caribean Center, Miami Center, Relax Oriental, River Club, Hawaii Center, Life Girls, and many more.
Rock Clubs (Disco) - Opah, Backwoods, Rock Cafe...many more. Usually one is open during weekdays...all are open on Friday and Saturday nights. They normally charge a cover of only a few dollars to as much as $15. But, if they charge a larger cover the well drinks are usually free. Tell your cab driver..."Disco"...he will know what you mean...if weekday, he may run you past all of the clubs until he finds one that is open...cabbies usually find something for you.
Regardless if you smoke or do not smoke...buy a pack of cigarettes ($1.50) and a lighter and lay them in front of you on the bar or table. Why? Bait. Pros and non-pros will look for an excuse to talk to you...what better way than to bum a cigarette? This way you can sit back and watch them come to you...not like in the states where you have to be the aggressor.
Hotels - IMHO hotels unnecessarily consume all of your "play" funds. I've stayed at Hotel Paitilla...on a scale of 1-5 it is maybe a 4...even a little lower, and they will charge you anywhere from $55-$100 a night...maybe even more if you don't work a discount. Hotel California IMHO rates a 3.5 maybe higher, and if you rent a room for 2 or more night you will pay $20 a night. If you stay only one night they will charge you $25. Hotel Lisboa is another nice hotel...USA matresses w/fitted sheets...IMHO they rate a solid 3.5 at $20 a night. Hotel California and Lisboa have a/c, hot showers, daily maid service, attached restaurants (excellent food...and coffee...make sure to order a "Cafe de Leche" add a little sugar...Mmmm...perfect!). They all have security, English CNN (cable w/remote), telephones...marble floors and clean bathroom. If you don't need luxury...just a room to sleep, take a shower, and fuck...why not save $60 to $80 a night and stay in Panama longer? Also, these hotels I mention are chica friendly...Paitilla probably is too.
Things to see and do:
1). Albrook Mall - New huge mall - USA quality - lots of chicas shopping or working in stores. Late morning to afternoon is a good time to visit.
2). Panama Canal - tour the locks. Morning to midday is best time. I think the lock tour is free.
3). Beaches - Playas (leave early AM) - Be sure to bring a date. Drive West across Panama Canal with rental car for 1-1.5 hours...I personally like (Playa) Santa Clara beach (90 miles West of PC at 70 MPH)...there is a small resort there with a huge open air bar with thatched roof right on the beach...food is great and beer is cheap. They have hotel rooms too.
4). Peacock Bass Fishing - Hire a guide and boat for about $50 and fish in Lake (Lago) Gatun (Gamboa boat ramp...ask for Sr. Chavez) or Lago Arenosa...ask for Chelo. Catch as many fish as your boat can handle...keep some for your hotel restaurant to cook-up or catch and release.
5). Deep Sea Fishing - The best anywhere in the world...(Marlin, sailfish, wahoo, tuna, Dorado (Mahi-Mahi)...go to any of the marinas and hire a boat. Will cost about $100-$150 per person plus tip (4-people min) for a 12-hour trip.
6). Los Peublos - Shopping area near airport. Fun place to take a chica on an afternoon date...she will know this place and be able to show you around. Great prices.
7). El Valle - (leave early AM) Tourist area in the mountains about 1.5 to 2 hours West of PC. Lots of fun things to see and explore...like, canopy tour via an open swing sliding on a cable through the tops of the jungle. Again, great place to take a chica for the day or over-night...also, she will know this place and should be able to show you around.
8). El Dorado Shopping Center in PC - Series of strip malls and restaurants...Golden Time, Caribean Center and Miami Club are in this area.
9). Panama Viejo (between airport and PC) - The old city ruins from the 15th & 16th century...Spanish style ruins from the days of Balboa and Capt Morgan the pirate. Great late morning early afternoon place to take a date...no cost to walk around the ruins.
9). Bella Vista/Calidonia area (just East of Federico Boyd Ave.) - Great restaurants & night clubs. TGI Friday's, Benegin's Restaurant and Sports Bar, Gaucho Steak House, the big cinema, and a new mall.
10). Central Ave - (Open daylight hours). Buy a great pair of blue jeans for only $10! Great shopping in the morning and afternoon...great place to look for chicas, or take a pre-paid date to show you around. Next-time I go to Panama I will leave my day-to-day clothing (blue jeans & t-shirts) at home and buy all new at Central Ave. Button shirts/Polo style shirts for $7-$8. Good clothing at 3rd world prices.
11). Via Espana - Panama City's main drag...lined by Panama City's top hotels, casinos, high end department stores, banks and restaurants. Great place for people watching.
12). Via Argentina - Lots of great medium cost open air restaurants...most of this street is canopied by trees.
Where to eat:
1). Viejo Piepo Restaurante (Ve-yah-ho Pee-poe - Italian - My favorite of all restaurants) - One block North from Balboa Ave (Balboa skirts the Pacific ocean - South of Panama)...kitty corner from Rocamar apartment building (22 stories) and a 30 story bank with a sloped white concrete design on the face of the building...sorry, I don't recall the name of the bank. But, these buildings are 1-block West from the Miramar Towers. Be sure to order a pitcher of Sangria and an order of Pan de Tomato (toasted flat bread with tomato and melted cheese). Order Corvina (sea bass) de Gorgonzola y broccoli.
2). German Gaust House - One block South of Hotel Montreal (Hotel Montreal is on Via Espana/Central Ave, this restaurant is on the opposite side of block. Gerald is a German Chef, bar keep and owner...makes excellent German food. Many US expats hang around this place...have a beer with them and chit-chat for tips, then have a few shots of Schnapps with Gerald...if you do...he buys too...he's really a fun guy.
3). Via Argentina - About a dozen open aired restaurants...great environment.
4). TGI Fridays - In Bella Vista (best location) or near the El Dorado Mall across the street from the Do-It-Center. Waitresses are usually really hot. Chica clientele selection is very good too. Panamanians like to visit TGI Friday's to get a taste of the USA. You being from the USA might be a bit of a novelty for a chica looking for an American boyfriend.
5). Benegin's Rest and sports bar - Anybody in Panama who is anything hangs around this place. After dinner, walk around the mall complex...especially on a Friday or Saturday evening...beautiful women everywhere..especially by the Cinema!
I hope this helps. Good hunting.

One last minute question before I leave for Panama City. Does anyone have a recomendation for a place to buy cigars? Are real cubans available?
Thanks. Mark
By Sandman on Monday, January 24, 2005 - 08:25 am: Edit |
They are sold in many places but one of the better stores with good selection and humidifiers can be found on the street directly in back of the Hotel Continental (you can actually walk through the hotel)It is a little store that is actually a part of the hotel building. Walk past the casinos, past the gift shop area, go outside and turn left. You can't miss it.

Mark -
Cigar Bar on Ave Balboa (507) 215-5151
Habanos Cafe, Calle 52, Campo Alegre, PC
(507) 300-3036 or (507) 265-5292
Also, there used to be a place called the Golf & Cigar Depot just off of Roosevelt in La Boca (Near the Panama Canal and the Panama Canal Administration building in Panama City).
I can't seem to find their website, nor can I find them in the Panama Yellow Pages...probably went out of business after I stopped buying my cigars there.
But, yes...you can get all kinds of cigars...Cuban, Puerto Rican, Honduran, Nicaraguan, Dominican, etc.
Cubans cost maybe a few dollars up to about $25 for the El Presidente. I'm not so much a cigar buff, but my friends say that they actually prefer cigars from countries other than Cuba. They say Cuba is over-rated by us gringos simply because they are illegal to bring to the states.
I say, try them all and find a cigar you like.

By Sandman on Tuesday, January 25, 2005 - 12:57 am: Edit |
Alec speaks truth.
Many Nica, Honduran and DR cigars are preferred by the locals and they feel the Cubans are all hype....and...overpriced...for gringo consumption.
"taste it before you salt it" kind of analogy then make your own decision.
Last time there, I had some awesome Hondurans at less than $2.00 each
