I will be in Thailand on 3/21 and 3/22 before heading to Indonesia. It'll probably be first night in Bangkok and then second night in Pattaya. I'll also be in Thailand on 3/27, but not sure for how long.

Okay, here is the dilemma. I am planning on arriving in BKK on the night of 4/14. The flight does not get in until about 8:30. Say 9:15 before I am out of the airport. Should I tie over in BKK for the night, or try to get transport down to Pattaya right away?

If I should stay in BKK, where would you recommend close to the action?

Go to Pattaya from the airport. You'll be there by 11 PM and have plenty of time to unpack and hit the scene. Why go to Bkk for one night, unless it's to stay at DI to catch the shuttle to Pattaya the next day.

Khun_mor. I am leaning now towards splitting the trip into 5 days in each place. I am a huge fan of history and architecture, and all here have advised me that the opportunities in these areas are better in BKK.

Besides, I just have to try Lólita's and the Eden club at least once!

Takes at least 7 days to study the fascinating architecture on Soi 6 in Pattaya. Some very historic experiences to be had there as well. LOL

Seriously if you want to do some real tourist stuff then BKK is a must. Go to Ayyuthaya - a day trip-for ancient Temples. There is also a whole preserved historic town called " The Ancient City " in Samut Prakhan-- a suburb of BKK. A must for history , architecture buffs.

Hi Guys, I'm making my first trip to Thailand, arriving late March 22 for two weeks. I'd like to hook up with some experienced mongers in BKK and Pattaya, the details of my plans are not definite yet.

I actually prefer the way Asian women look, but got sidetracked and sucked into Brasil before I knew it. Here's a chance for me to be saved by some of you guys on the Asia boards before the dark side claims me completely.

My itinerary has changed:
I'll be in Thailand 3/29th-4/30th. I'm very flexible this trip, but I'm thinking something like this:
Pattaya: 3/29-4/23, (with sidetrips to Phuket and maybe Cambodia).
Bangkok: 4/24-4/30.

Hey Bahtman. I will be on my Virgin LoS trip from April 14 through the 26th. Firs 3 days in BKK, and the rest in Pattaya. Would really enjoy hooking up with a veteran until I get the lay of the land so to speak.

Looking like Pattaya on 3/27 & 3/28, Koh Kong, Cambodia on 3/29, Sihanoukville on 3/30 & 3/31 and Phnom Penh on 4/1 & 4/2, then off to join friends for the non-mongering portion of my trip in either Siem Reap or Vientennae or Bangkok -- still up in the air on that portion. I've been to Thailand about 8 or 9 times in the past 3 years, but I'm virgin to Cambodia. Beers and chit-chat welcome!

May is a great month to go to Pattaya. Crowds are gone - will be very hot however. Hell it's too hot to walk around at night that time of year.

Just stay indoors with multiple ST friends and you'll be fine.

Heading in town on the 25th of March through the 10th of April.

I remember folks talking about how the rainy season starts in May. Last year, I was in Pattaya from April 10 to May 9th. April was UGLY heatwise, but on May 2nd the rain started daily. Every day the sky would open up for at LEAST 2 hours and pour firehose-like rain in Pattaya. The street out in front of DI on Soi 13 would flood every day. This made riding my motobike a real adventure...

With Global Warming taking affect, even the weather in Thailand can be very unpredictable. Cool breezes when it's supposed to be hot, sunny and bright when it's supposed to be wet, etc. The seasons have been messed up a bit, so check the world weather because it is variable. However, it is getting hot and sticky in Bangers, so not much change there. It is still OK though, no sign of me doing an impression of the incredible melting man just yet.

May is no different than April really-- hot as hell day and night weather wise. There are periods in Thailand where it rains for days any time of the year ,and during rainy season it can go for weeks without raining- it's all about liklihood .

It rains some in May but the height of the rainy season is more like June thru September in BKK and Northward. The rainy season is a bit earlier down Phuket way if I remember right.
