Flights are already way overpriced (no cheap inventory remaining?) - and award seats are long gone. So it won't be Cali for me on that holiday - still exploring other destinations or I may not travel.

I wish there were better prices on fares.

I will be in Colombia in the middle of January 2005 and I would like to stay 1 month either in Bogota, Cali, Medelin or Carthagene.
I scare a little to go alone there. Would be good to be two.

If you are worried about being on your own and haven't found anyone to travel with.

I would recomend Cartagena for your first trip, there are normally quite a few foreigners there at any one time. So you will meet like minded people there to hook up with.

Going to CTG from Oct 22 to 25. The Charleston CTG Hotel is full. Is the CTG Hilton Hotel a chica friendly place? What other hotels are recommend? The prices quoted on the internet are all way more expensive than the prices I see quoted here at club hombre. What is the best way to book a room? Thanks

Firstin, the CTG Hilton is chica friendly, but it is one of the more expensive places to "hole up". But I do so to get my Hilton points.

A good hotel to stay at for the weekend specials is the Almirante, as they offer a breakfast and dinner for two each nite. But double check if the offer is available, as it is not offered during high season?

And in the past, you still could not get a hotel web site or e-mail reservation?

If not on a budget, splurge/stay at a good hotel. I do:-)

Firstinsight, seeing as you are arriving in the daytime, I wouldn't bother to book a hotel in advance non high season in Ctg.
Booking via the internet for Ctg, you end up paying more.
I would just turn up at your 1st choice hotel, if its not full (unlikely) go and check a room out, if you like it ask the reception the price and then offer them 25% less, you should end up with a discount of 10-25%, this all depends on your bartaring skills, but I have stayed in hotels in Colombia half a dozen times and always had a good discount, which just takes a minute or two to get.

For the type of hotel in your price range.

In the Old City, I would recomend either:

Hotel Charleston

or

Hotel Santa Clara

For the Bocogranda/Laguito area.

The Hilton

or

Almirante

Both are good hotels, the Hilton is close to the main p4p action in Laguito, but the Almirante is only a few minutes taxi ride away.

I would get the 4 address for the places and have them ready for the taxi driver, on my first trip to Ctg I stayed in the Charlston and the Taxi driver didn't know where it was.
All these hotels are within 10 mins of each other by taxi, so if one is full, you will not have far to travel, in the very very highly unlikely event that they are all full, there are dozens of other hotels there, so you will not be without accomodation.
