Manos another cool American has just moved here too and he hangs out in Nana Plaza and other areas of BKK. The CH community in BKK is steadily growing pleased to say. For my critics please notice that I am mentioning another bar of which I have NO vested interest. Some CH guys have got me all wrong.

It is hot season here which in Thailand is very hot and sticky. There is a lovely cool breeze though, that is as welcome as a cute BG snuggling up next to you in bed! No rain here yet and hopefully the monsoons won't start for a couple of months yet. Harder to predict the weather now with global warming, but Thailand usually has the highest average temperature in the world. Yeh it's hot but in all due respect it's a million times better than you being stuck back home.

The Topaz at the GP was where I used to stay, I liked it at the GP especially the mirrors by the bed, but got spoilt once I stayed at the PS.

Am going to look at the Omni and will try priceline to see if I can get a good price on either the Marriott, Shereton or Westin. I will post an update if I get a price.

Since my last post, GP sold out, but I got these rates for the Omni Tower (moveandstay.com):
Studio Suite (Sq.m 33) = Baht 1,980 per night
One Bedroom Suite(Sq.m 65) = Baht 2,700 per night
Two Bedroom Suite (Sq.m 80) = Baht3,600 per night

My pal Blumpy stayed at the Westin last year, verry nice but best rates are $90US/night. A little further down at Drop Inn Bangkok (near Soi Cowboy)they are offering rooms at 1,600THB.

Damn! I just want to get the planning over and start the partying...

On a serious note, I have a good amount of independence with my job that requires me to be on the road most weeks. When there is a lull in action, I just go. Cash wise it gets painful. Since mid october, I've spent apprx. 14 weeks in SEA. Figure 1.5k a week or so average and you can see that it becomes a drag on the slush fund. I'll tone it down a little and try to limit myself to 7 weeks a year in SEA and take a couple weeks and explore central and s. amer. Better yet, rather than live by a creed of moderation, I may end up liquidating ASSets and becoming a FT pooying tester for Dave

Ok... here's what I found. I can fly into either SIN or HKG. I can get either ticket for around $522 INCLUDING all taxes (I already beat the meat in anticipation). I like SIN cuz of the ease and cheapness of getting my ass to LoS soon after I arrive. HKG looks ok if I wanted to squander a couple days in Macau, but I ain't keen on figuring out a new scene when I only got a week in total...

Dates u ask-- I will fly out of SIN on the 1st and return to SIN on the 9th based on available tickets. These are PROJECTED dates- I still gota seen how this week plays out. Thank god I'm chilling state-side building up retirement funds, a-hole.

Ohh ya... I almost forgot you'll be in the land of never-ending stinky puki during this time...

No problemo, the 10th is my cutoff if I book that UAL ticket (last possible return = 10th). I also have to be in Denver on the 14th, so I don't have much leeway either way. It was worth checking

I spent last new year in BKK and it was kinda lame. Pattaya would be good though. The problem with a major get together then is ticket availability and pricing.

That is true...but I remember checking sometime ago and you could catch on some cheap fares if you bough about 4 months in advance. That is what I am planning to do at any rate. I would be happy if I can score for less than 800 and am willing to go as hi as 1100.

Otherwise, I will just go to Colombia, Venezuela or the DR.
