Gibletpie, he is actually the newbie that I was talking about in my Rio report a couple of weeks ago. Think it was his 3rd trip to Rio and he was a "know-it-all".


Funny thing was, he was acually a decent guy who made alot of money in the real estate business. But for some reason, he just wouldnt listen to anyone when we tried to explain to him how the game works in Copa.

My trip is a moving target. As is, United opened up a shitload of FF seats over the past couple of weeks. Saver award seats have been available almost every day, both ways, in multiple clases-of-service. So, I moved up my departure date a week. I actually almost flew out last Thursday - long story but the girlfriend is sick and ended up in the hospital for a day, and I was about 12 hours from hopping on a plane.

I have stayed at the Portinari three times. It is a very nice hotel. It is a small hotel that has recently been renovated. Just one block from the beach, on Francisco Sau, posto 6. It is only three blocks to Centarus, so easy to walk. I liked the location as it is on the far end of Copacabana. You can walk down Francisco Sau and be at Ipanema beach very quickly, also easy to get to the hippie fair on Sunday.

I booked it with Bobbi at blame it on rio, so I did not get charged a guest fee. The usual guest fee is $60R per guest. Last time I stayed they tried to charge a guest fee, but I reminded them who I booked the reservation through, and they had never charged me a guest fee before.

They have a very good free breakfeast in the morning on the top floor. The rooms are decorated differently on each floor, so every time I stayed, I got a different "look".

I will stay there again.

When i wasn't busy in the US I was down there constantly. The real question is how long would I spend in the US if I wasn't busy, lol, this is going to cost me about $3k for just over two days on the ground there, I really am crazy.

Gr8ter - Please inform AP that "Big Hempy" and "Little Hempy" even more will miss her and sorry to hear about her mother but I am a little short on $$$ right now as I just gave this Garota at Centaurus 38K because she had an emergency also and needed it desperately I think it was for a liver transplant or something like that for her father. Isn't medical science wonderful as this was his third transplant and if I remember right AP mother had 4 heart transplants last year alone so she must get a discount? We'll I'll be lonley with just my Mac and Cheese but I guess I'll survive. I'll hate to have to spend all my time at the Termas while she is gone but "Little Hempy" needs to be LOVED a lot or he is very HARD to live with.

Gr8ter - Great news my friend. AP mother will not need the heart transplant after all. She just told me it was just a severe case of indigestion - go figure? But the bad news is my friend from Centaurus whose father needed the liver transplant (38K) told me he also needed hip replacements (both hips too) and she needed another 15K. Due to all this extra medical expense and AP wanted me to take her and her friend from 4x4 "C" to Buzios for the weekend. I sent AP 5k reais yesterday but she told me it was repair earthquake damage which is funny because i don't remember hearing anything about an earthquake in rio. She said her telephone would be off for the next three days also because they have to do it before they can start the repairs, but I trust her so I am sure the money isn't really for your getaway to buzios with her and C.

I really like C a lot, but unfortunately it is looking like this weekend won't work out for me, it is killing me because i would like to see her. The good news is I know where she will be for the next couple years, I guess it reminds me of that line from dazed and confused "That's what I love about these rio girls, man. I get older, they stay the same age". But I have expended a lot of social capital on her. Oh well, keep her warm until november and do your best to help support ap so she doesn't keep calling asking me for money. C is an ex-girlfriend before she was even a girlfriend, a first for me. I think I am done with her for now. On the bright side, my portuguese professor wants to go to a movie with me this weekend so maybe I can do her and feel a little better. Have you seen K recently?
