I only have $3000 to make the trip.

I live in Miami, Fl:

Flight - $1000
Hostel - $30 * 6 nights = $180 - $220

Food/Nightlife - $1600

Thats $300 a day budget....

I want a 1 terma/1 VIP/Help session per day.

Does anyone have any experiences with the hostels in Rio?

Why would you stay in a hostel but take a Help garota way out to VIPs?

Just get an apartment for US$75 or so a day and be done with it. Sleeping in an open dorm and sharing a bathroom with a bunch of backpackers is probably not conducive to mongering anyways.

the only one i know about is at constante ramos one block from barata ribeiro.3 years ago they charged you 15-25rs depending how many beds the dorm had.its non of my business but i think you should reconsider and get a garota friendly hotel or an apartment

some people do that because they are here on business in a luxury hotel and want to keep up their reputation. Or because they want to keep dangerous potential robbing and stealing girls out of their main living space. Plus hotels and motels are safer places to f.ck then apartments.

On the other hand, how are you going to keep your belongings safe in a hostel? And the savings aren't really that great

Especially, VIPS Motel is something one has to see once (the rooms over R$ 160 for a period of 6(?) hours are a MUST SEE), but not the place to take girls all the time when you are on a budget. But yes, there are cheaper motels around

My cheapest rooms in my apartments are US$ 50 per night, you can bring girls (as long as they can prove they are over 18), and I help you with advice how to save $$$ with girls and other items. If that is of interest, send me a PM (private message)

There are some other options to get apartments from about US$ 40 and up (cheaper for monthly rentals)

there are a few of us thinking about coming for New Yrs. Have been there past three yrs(at New Yrs) and it is absolutly incredible. If you are near Copa great because you can forget about a taxi on New Yrs, you will end up walking.

You should first join one of those websites that discusses clubs and bars and other places to meet women. It will probably have hundreds of reports and discussion threads on every aspect of a trip to Rio, from making flights to lodging to food and transportation and even where to get laid. Once there you may have to spend a minute or two to find the section on Rio and then you should start reading. Afterwards, ask specific questions.

LVS...Sounds like you are new to this board, so I'll give you some navigating help.

Here's what you do...

At the home page, you will find a section just below the words JUMP MENU...Do the drop down menu and highlight Brazil and then hit "discuss".

Look for Rio and hit that link.

That opens up a bunch of options.

I would recommend Bwana Dik's Guide...It is awesome! Other good reading are the termas, hotels/lodging/ and restaurants. If you don''t want to spend much energy in Rio finding things, you may even want to check out Tour/Guide for Don and Ken at Amerioca Tours (IMHO, they are cool guys that are really helpful.)

Then read some current trip reports..you can hit the link on the left margin.

Lvs, this site takes some time to get your bearings. Adding to Solid's suggestions, click on Trip Reports on the left side, then under select a location, choose Rio and read some of the reports. It will give you a good idea of what to expect. Also, if you click on Guides on the left, you will find the guide Solid mentioned.

Don't be discouraged after your first post. He does that to everyone new. He's the self-appointed moderator of all things that should be asked and answered on this site. He's also a "vet". Just ask him.

ahhhh ha ha,,,, I'm already partially ruined with several trips to Colombia and of course where I took my training wheels off (hotel Del Rey). 15 years ago I passed on a trip to Rio with a couple of work buddies. I knew nothing about it and neither did they. Ever since they returned with pics of beautiful bunda and stories you would have thought came from this site (way before the internet) I have been envious. So if Rio will Ruin me,,,,, I have waited and dream't for 15 years and now deciding to bite the bullet. So,,,,, LET THE REAL RUINING BEGIN !!!!!!!!

Be prepared.. the women in rio are on a whole different level. I, like you, hit Costa Rica first, many years ago. I thought it was utopia. Actually fell in love and spent 6 yrs with a beautiful tica. Passed on Rio a few times, heard some horror stories about muggings and dangerous, somewhat overblown and centered around certain areas of Copa.
Took my first trip to Rio in April of this year, next week will be my third trip back.
Every time I go I can't wait to go back and see my favorita, and when I go back i find one who I like even better then the old favorite. I like everything about Brasil, except the 11 hours to get there. Three things helped me a lot
1) BD's guide
2) Hired Don and Ken for a few days.
3) the rio vets on this board ( cat included, his bark is worse then his bite)

LVS, I am a recent newbie to CH and I know where you are coming from. I just returned from my 1st Rio trip. I studied the Rio threads and the Pimsleur 1 tapes for almost 4 months before going. I only covered a fraction of the material, but I knew more about RDJ than my friend who has been 10 times in the last 7 years. I took him to places he had never heard of considered like I had been there before. There is an amazing amount of knowledge and detail in those threads which will enhance your experience.
It was three months from when I first read CH to when I posted - I found most of my questions already answered multiple times over, so I do understand the vets frustration. As far as Cat goes, I found him very approachable and helpful before my first trip. He offered me help via chat and PM and I thank him for having taken personal interest in my trip. I know you will find the same.
I'm working on my report right now. I hope you will find it useful, and entertaining. I want to warn you up front that there is no new light I can shed on Rio compared to what is already out there, but I can let you see what the trip was like for me. Best of luck and get ready for an incredible trip made better by your compadres at CH.
