Was in Barcelona in Mid Jan '02. There is quite a monger scene going on there. Been there twice and I'm sure I've only scratched the surface.

A lot of "bars" can be found on Avenida Sarria, off the Avenida Diagonal. These places can be hit and miss but there are some gems to be found. Just thought I'd update you on Barcelona scene. None of the reviews seems to have pinpoint this area. I was there about 2 weeks ago. The area is near La Rambla and is called the Chinese District. Some basic info from a recent trip report:

Arriving at the airport, you have three main options into the city. Barcelona is a beautiful city but it is over run by tourists. I found it difficult to feel like I was in the presence of the Catalan people. It is also much more expensive for hotel rooms and food than Madrid. As a for instance, a Jarre (large beer) is 2.7 euros in Madrid and it costs 3.95 Euros for the same in Barcelona. However, Barcelona is full of apartment action and the nearby town of Castelldefels is home to Club Riviera, maybe one of the best puticlubs in all of Spain.

That is how I found Barcelona.

Disappointing:
I went pretty much everywhere. Photoshopping must be a thriving industry here because the girls I saw on the sites and the girls I saw in person only vaguely resembled each other.
