This is a combo hotel/cabana, and is right beside Girls' House and basically functions as it's hot-pillow hotel.

I had takeout from Girls's House at Mystik tonight and had a chat with Emilio, the manager.

Emilio said he lived in Florida for a long time and sounded like it, English was fluent. I paid DP 700 for the short-time (2 hours) room, which was nice.

Very clean, the bed was actually comfortable. Large bathroom, well lit and clean, all tile, two sinks, two shitters (don't know why), one large shower with good hot water.

The short term rate is basically cabana pricing but without the cab ride down and back, so a good deal if you're staying in the Jaragua or Salia.

Here was the price breakdown from Emilio:

US$50 per night, breakfast included. No guest fees, but I think only one girl at a time. US$65 for a suite, US$80 for a double. I didn't check the suite out but this makes for a good side room if you're staying at a chica-unfriendly hotel or if you just don't like bringing the girls back home.

I stayed here several nights recently. They have a website at:
http://hotelmystik.com/
I didn't use any of the website's information or make a reservation in advance. The Mystik is better known as a short-time hotel, and I didn't think I'd have any problems getting a room if I needed one, and I wanted to see one in person before I would stay there.

If you do want to make a reservation, the local phone number is 809-686-3627. They have an international number listed as 786-837-7629. This information is per their web site.

My cab driver either did not know the Mystik or couldn't understand how I was saying it, fortunately I could tell him it was on Pasteur between the Malecon (George Washington) and Independencia. In Spanish, "Calle Pasteur entre el Malecon y Independencia.

I also stayed at the Hotel Riazor this trip. I think most people would prefer the Riazor. It's $5 more, but looks nicer, cleaner, has a 24hr restaurant next door, and seems to be the preferred place to stay for most hobbyists.

Personally, I'm less interested in how nice the room was or meeting other hobbyists. The faster internet and larger safe (big enough for my laptop and ALL my valuables) were more important factors for me, and I didn't mind walking a few blocks, even late at night, to get to the 24 restaurant at Riazor. (That's just me, I can't say that's safe and as will be evident in my upcoming report, I'll walk in areas where I shouldn't)

Another benefit was being right next to The Girls House, Satin Dolls, and Sky High. I only sampled one lady each from these three locations, but they were among my favorite p4p locations in Santo Domingo. Bringing ladies back to the room didn't require taking a cab with an inflated rate since it was a walk of at most the span of a few buildings. Another thing was that it was much easier to walk into these places without being hassled by one of the very annoying touts that hang out on Pasteur. The touts in Santo Domingo (and the cab drivers) were among the most annoying I've encountered in the world.

Not that it mattered, but the cleaning staff at the Mystik seemed unusually unfriendly. They weren't rude, but I don't think I saw them smile at all. I didn't notice this anywhere else in the Dominican Republic.

I paid $55 USD or approximately 2100 DOP for each night I stayed here.

The Mystik will probably be my first choice the next time I come to Santo Domingo.

Mystik is still my first choice, followed by a place I wrote about more recently, the Jaguar Apart Studios.

The main advantage is being right there on Pasteur. With some of the closures and the opening of the Venecia Hotel/Brothel, this is where it's easiest to find and bring ladies back, no overpriced cab involved. You also have a 24 hr mini stall where you can buy snacks, drinks, and basic things like condoms. The disadvantages are that the rooms are not as nice and the internet occasionally goes out and the routers need to be reset (you have to tell them, don't expect them to fix it otherwise).
