I almost always drive to the ZN, and stay at the Cascadas. What I do is park about a block and a half down the street, where there is good security.

Hotel Leyva has parking, but mnay thefts.

Hey Explorer8939,
Can you give me a better Idea where that parking lot is? I'm guessing its on Coahuila. East or West from Cascadas? This would be great.
Thanks

By Explorer8939 on Wednesday, April 11, 2001 - 02:36 pm:  Edit

West. About a block and a half on the north corner.

$5 per day.

This is a great place if you are going to do a Zona trip. Bring ear plugs, they are a must as the noise seems to reverberate. I used the San Ysidro Parking for my car as it is very secure. The staff are very helpful at Cascades and it is very safe. It is great to have a place to nap when you get tired, but get up and find someone when you are horny. The continuos porno on the TV tends to keep you a bit horny. I have stayed in Villa Zaragosa and Motel Leon before, but Cascades is the absolute best. The stories about car thefts at Villa Zaragosa have cause me to cross that Motel off the list, along with the security guards hassling you for money when you bring a girl back.

Is there still alot of girls offering room service at Cascadas? I remember a couple of guys were talking about that a few months back.

By Robertosol on Wednesday, April 25, 2001 - 08:03 am:  Edit

I did not experience the telephone calls or girls dropping by. However the guy who took me to the room said he had a very beautiful girl he would bring to my room. I had just arrived and wanted to do my own scouting at the clubs so I declined. I did get a phone call just as I brought in a girl from Miami, when I answered with "Bueno" they hung up. Could be if I answered in English I would have gotten a request for company. The convenience factor and the safety are great. I was on the 4th floor, the shower had good hot water, but it is noisy so bring good ear plugs.

By Explorer8939 on Wednesday, April 25, 2001 - 08:48 am:  Edit

Make sure you get a room on the 5th or 6th floors when you check into Cascadas. On those floors, the only noise you get is when the chicas yell out: "Talachero!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!", which they do all the time.

Do all the rooms have windows at Las Cascadas?

By Robertx on Tuesday, May 01, 2001 - 05:19 pm:  Edit

Only few have windows facing the street, most just facing the hall. The ones with outside window are not more disirable, because you get the street noise. The ZN hotels are all very loud, for that reason I stay at Nelson, or VZ.

Last time i stayed on the 5th floor, there was alot of foot traffic, going to this one room at the end. I like to eat downstairs at that little breakfast place and got to know the waiter. Later...i saw that same waiter up on my 5th floor knocking on the door of that room that everyone was visiting! I saw the waiter had a wad of bills in his hand.

Something is going on in there. That room is either occupied by the owner or some drug dealer who handles lots of cash. Oh by the way...i can smell meth all over the place at Cascadas....food for thought! Keep your doors locked!

By Youngbrig on Sunday, July 01, 2001 - 02:05 am:  Edit

JohnnyB:

That meth smell?...Its the girls smoking crystal in their rooms...they either have glass pipes or they hollow-out light bulbs and proceed to fire-up and toke away...Constantly...

All day Saturday, some chica in hot pink was walking around the halls of Cascadas, offering her services. She looked like she was in a daze.

Redongdo has touched on this issue before, but the sheets and bedding at Cascadas are absolutely disgusting...

I finally broke down this past week and went up to Mas on Ninos Heros and bought a Full Sheet Set for $130 pesos...this allowed me take a nap and lay my head on the pillow with some peace of mind...

Problem is that this is just one more item I am going to have lug in and out of the Zona in my bag...but...

I had to take action...

I was thinking of staying in Las Cascadas either Thursday 8/16 or Sunday night 8/19. I'm going down to celebrate my birthday & purchase a nice gift for myself. I've stayed there before but was considering trying one of their jacuzzi rooms this time. Anyone know if they still run $65.00 for the night? Which floor are the jacuzzi rooms on? Any suggestions on things to bring to get the most enjoyment out of the room (extra towels etc.)? What are the jacuzzi's like? From past posts they sound kind of like oversized bathtubs that have to be filled up. (How long does that take?) Do they have jets & does the water stay warm? Any info will be greatly appreciated.

By Taxibob on Thursday, August 16, 2001 - 05:55 am:  Edit

Conejo
As of last sunday night they still ran $65 a night + a $10 key deposit.
They have one jacuzzi suite on each of floors 3,4,5,6.I'm unsure about floor 2.get floor 4 or higher(if you just ask and they are available they do it)so that the club music don't blow you out.
The Jacuzzi easily fits two ar a very cozy three.pretty good tub for a session. They have Jets and a timer and a well placed mirror. The jacuzzi doesn't keep the water hot but there's plentiful hot water just add a little

Extra towels will be much needed. You can tip the talachero who opens your room for you for more towels and they will bring them but they are pretty crappy towels.

They are much bigger and nicer than the other cascadas rooms and the airconditioner works well enough to keep the room nice even with a steamy jaccuzzi going. The switch for the A/C in these rooms are on the wall beside the television.

They have little Refrigerators in these rooms but good luck getting one that works.I have stayed there when the chica i was with called and bitched about the fridge not working and they brought up a big bucket of ice.I won't hold my breath waiting for that to happen again.
Bring a Radio or music and some bubble bath.If you fill it pretty hot before you go out it might still be hot after you pick a chica and return or warm enough to easily be warmed up.If you really open the faucetts you can fill it in around ten minutes,a little slower to get really hot water.Even if the SG or bargirl doesn't jacuzzi with you it's ready for you to enjoy after your done.
Can't hardly beat the location!
Have fun on your birthday

Taxibob,

Thanks for the info & advice. I will be staying in TJ on Sunday night & will try out a jacuzzi room. I've already got the music & beach towels packed. I actually went down tonight (Friday) to make some arrangements with a couple of girls. One gave me her phone number because she doesn't normally work on Sundays, but said she wanted to meet up with me for my birthday. I hope to get an extra long session out of her since she won't have to get back downstairs to work. Wish me luck & thanks again.

Did my 1st extended stay here. Thanks for all the tips and suggestions. I took towels, sheets and pillow cases. I think a fan would be a great thing to have and since I drive down from San Diego, it wouldn't be a problem. Is the porno channel always without sound? The ability to come and go as you please and a place to use a toilet, take a shower or get off the street, the $28 was well worth it. Even if I had to pay an AB bar fine, it would still be a bargain.

Yeah the porno is always without sound. They don't want to offend their patrons when they walk past your room by subjecting them to the sounds of the lewd moanings and slurpings of the porno performers. Cascadas management always tries to be considerate to their customers.

By Xkansan on Tuesday, August 28, 2001 - 03:07 pm:  Edit

Erip, speaking of "sounds of lewd moanings and slurping", last May I stayed there, with a few SG guests. Glad I had a room towards the end of the hall. After noisily banging away most of the night and again the next morning...I realized the hallway window was open the whole time! I wonder how people many passed by and overheard...

By Erip on Tuesday, August 28, 2001 - 04:52 pm:  Edit

Exactly Xk...management is considerate enough to see to it that the REAL moans and slurping sounds don't get drowned out. Hey, its hot in those rooms - you have to leave the windows open to pick up that hall breeze. BTW Xk, did you leave the blinds open too?

By Youngbrig on Wednesday, August 29, 2001 - 01:08 am:  Edit

Erip: you know what?...its hot in those rooms the better part of the day and night, but it actually gets a touch cold in the late morning-- I want to say between, like, 9am to 11am...

Unfortunately my chica is usually hogging the sheets and bedcovers...she wraps herself in them like a mummy...probably trying to tell me something, eh?...

YB, I'm actually in full spoof mode...I've been lucky to get rooms where whatever "air conditioning" system they have actually works. My rooms have been comfortable...at least temperature wise...the rocks in the pillows and slime on the shower floor are other issues. If it gets a little warm you got those furious breezes coming through the hall windows (I always get a room near the outside windows).

I was looking for a hotel room in the Zona last night. I went to Adelitas hotel and asked how much for the night. I was told the room was 35 dollars for the night. No way. I went to Cascades and took the room there for 29.00. The airconditioning did not seem to work; the tv was stuck on one channel and the button to change the channel did not work so no porno. The towels and sheet are well worn. I say sheet because thats all they had on the bed is one. I asked for another to cover myself during the night but never received it. The only positive was that no cockroaches encountered like at Cascades.

By Pecs on Friday, October 05, 2001 - 02:09 am:  Edit

Thats why I always take a towel, sheet, blanket, and wet ones to clean the room when staying there.

Solo,

What room were you in? Makes a big difference. I try to get room 410. It has a killer AC (icebox)... (prog)

By Shady on Friday, October 05, 2001 - 10:21 am:  Edit

I like to stay in room 413. Not as much noise from the stairway, as people are coming in in the middle of the nite.

What ever you do DO NOT go for room 224.

It is on the alley entrance side and is right above the Hong Kong/Miami club.

Sort of like sitting right next to your stero speakers with the volume set at 10.

By Erip on Friday, October 05, 2001 - 12:01 pm:  Edit

Progman, I have to laugh. I was in 409 this week and it has no A/C at all...not that it doesn't work, it's just not there. I am trying to figure out how this place was designed and built with some rooms having A/C while others right next door or across the hall do not.

Solo, it's true you don't see cockroaches, but you don't want to be there on the days they fumigate. I've heard their methods are lethal for all living creatures.

By Youngbrig on Friday, October 05, 2001 - 05:20 pm:  Edit

Some rooms have A/C that work well enough to literally freeze you out after a while...I am thinking of two fifth-floor rooms in particular, but I think I will withhold the specific room numbers-- since this is valuable info IMHO-- at this point in time...

Anyway, Erip is right: in some rooms its not just that the A/C doesn't work, its that there isnt even a fetching A/C switch...

By Redongdo on Monday, October 08, 2001 - 01:42 pm:  Edit

Si Explorer,

It's a double, you think I'd split a room with one bed? HAH! Actually it was a good solution as I used to rent a room at both Cascadas and Coahuila. This was back when Coahuila was 22 bucks all night instead of 35, it's not always the cost effective solution anymore.

Of course I still end up finding a chica at Chicago Club! Best laid plans....

By Solo on Wednesday, October 10, 2001 - 05:50 pm:  Edit

I was given a room on the 1st floor but complained because it was hot and had no AC. I was then given a room on the 4th floor 420 or 427. The butler or whatever points to the grate in the ceiling and says that is the AC. OK but it does not work which is probably good since there is only one sheet on the bed and a paper thin bedspread. I would have probably froze too death. I had to use the towel to cover up during the night. I will definitely bring my own sheets next time.

By Youngbrig on Thursday, October 11, 2001 - 09:56 am:  Edit

Solo:

If you don't want to lug sheets across the border, sheet sets can be purchased for $200-300 pesos at Mas or Dorians up on Ninos Heroes...

One day I stumbled across a Charisma 310-thread count set in a size Full for something like $400 pesos...which is an incredible price for Charisma sheets...

In any event, purchasing sheets for use at Cascadas is definitely a worthwhile investment...I do not trust their bedding at all...

Nice YB; I've also found that the chicas enjoy good clean sheets when they get to the room. A little shower, lotion - into the sheets. They are also on the look out for "otra chicas" signs, stains, condom wrappers. My sheets are patterned so that any lube or juce stains do not stand out. I just need to find out how to get sound on that DAMN PORNO channel ;)

After doing a chica at Cascadas, I ALWAYS clean up the room, hide the evidence, make the bed, etc. As much as the chicas like to make you believe that you're the only customer they've had all day, the chicas like to believe that they are the only chica you've had all day.

By Explorer8939 on Monday, November 12, 2001 - 09:37 am:  Edit

Who at Cascadas counts the chicas you bring to the room? Do they check both the front and back entrances to make sure you don't bring up a Chaveles chicas and then a Hong Kong chica later on?

I got burned by the same thing this weekend. I guess they didn't really want my business after all. I realize it's an extra block but I think Rizo del Oro will be getting my business from now on. The rooms aren't quite as pretty (if that's possible), but the bathrooms are cleaner and the porn on the TV has sound. Even though Rizo doesn't have AC, they have fans mounted on the wall that you can point at your bed. Even better then crappy/non-existent AC in my book...

The interesting thing about your 'solution' is that Rizo del Oro and Cascadas are owned by the same people.

Strange how La Zona works.

By Redongdo on Tuesday, November 13, 2001 - 12:38 pm:  Edit

The new rule at Cascadas is the first chica is free, any after that are 12 bucks each.

I asked why then, if you bring a girl from say Miami or LC it's only ten dollars...the answer was that's for a short time. I was then shown a sign that's going up soon explaining when you bring more than one girl it's considered multiple occupancy.

The porno channel is now on 5 not 8 and there is sound.

Explorer,

The desk guy counts. Whether or not they contact the other desk is a good guess. For Tomas, me and you they probably do!
**********
Epimetheus,

Your solution will work for Tropical, but the convenience of Cascadas for not only multiple bars but also the street girls can't be beat.
**********
StrikeEagle,

I don't think it's so strange. When we started posting about Cascadas it suddenly got real popular (answering anyone's question about whether or not the 'net and these boards have any effect on TJ) and on some nights, especially Fri and Sat, you often couldn't even get a room. We can pitch all the bitches we want online and it won't change anything. They will make more money.

What aspect of it is strange? Having the same owner and different policy? They own two hotels, one get's booked solid on a regular basis and the other one constantly has vacancies. No doubt part of the strategy is to try and shift some of the biz to the Rizo. Remember somebody posted awhile back that at times it was tricky getting a Tropical girl to Cascadas.

They know what they're doing. We opened our big mouths and are paying the price for it. Literally.

By Robertx on Tuesday, November 13, 2001 - 01:47 pm:  Edit

I can't agree with you, Red. I think it is a result of the decline in business. All over TJ scams are increasing. The rats and scum tries to get more pieces of the shrinking pie.
It is the girls we are there for, hotels, bars and others need to scam more these days to get more $$$.

By Diego on Tuesday, November 13, 2001 - 03:57 pm:  Edit

Robertx, Tomas, et. al.;

It is all based on the old rule of supply and demand.

The best way to deal with escalating prices is to always be willing to look for greener pastures... at least as far as "bang for the buck" is concerned.

The fact is, Cascadas is slowly turning into a run-of-the-mill ZN dump, anyway. It was great at first, but is now not much better than other places like Rizo del Oro. Until enough customers start saying "enough is enough", and walk out when they quote too high of a price, they are going to keep trying to stick it to us.

Look - given the current business climate, Zona Norte has a GLUT of hotel rooms, especially during the week(Sun-Thur). You should be able to NAME YOUR OWN DEAL. Don't just pay them when they raise the price - WALK OUT and LOOK FOR A BETTER DEAL. Face it - there are NOT THAT MANY CUSTOMERS... if you are paying too much - it is YOUR OWN FAULT.

Remember, the ZN is NOT America. You CAN negotiate... but you MUST be willing to say NO at some point.

Look, at what point would you finally say "Fuck this shit!" to an all-night hotel room price at Cascadas? $28? $32? $35? $40 - OUCH! Did I FINALLY hit a nerve?

You know, maybe we haven't been giving some of these ZN business owners enough credit(I am NOT talking about Manhattan or La Tropa!)...

I tell you, I have to admit, it was tough for me to completely break the Adelita Bar chica drink habit... even though I always went to other bars, I liked to go into Adelita at least once every visit, because they generally have a better selection of woman. But - NO MORE! I've seen the price go from $4, to $5, to $6; and, what's it up to now? $8... plus they practically force you to tip now... So long, suckers! They finally have COMPLETELY chased this longtime customer away.

By Pecs on Tuesday, November 13, 2001 - 10:07 pm:  Edit

Oh man this really sucks....This place used to be my favorite hangout due to convenience of bringing SG up on a whim without any hassles. Is this true for everyone. $12 for each girl after 1? Now i'm going to have to find another hotel. Rizo is too far to bring SG.
Is everyone just paying the $12?
