(Gee, I thought that meant "fracas" in english, but it turns out that it means "Flop" or "Failure".)

Located on the North side of Articulo 123 (1st Avenue) between Revolucion & Constitucion about mid-block.

Substantially (or completely) mexican clientele, The Bailarenas ($1.00 a dance) double as ficheras, but I bought both my drink (agua mineral) and hers (Clamato) for about 5 bucks, of which she was paid 15 pesos.

Last night, being unsure of the dance prices, I asked the waiter - in my shoddy spanish - what the dancing girls cost. He replied (in english) This one ten dollars, this one twenty, depends... I was totally embarrassed and replied Estuve hablando de bailar (I was talking about dancing) & he replied (again in english) Oh! A dollar a dance.

Friday night (1-4-02) there were lots of girls - some young good looking ones, too.

Hey! I was there also Friday night and did my first girl from there. Went across the street to an upstairs room. I think the room was $4-5 bucks and the girl was $20. Damn good session too!

I've been there a few times, including last month with Progman and "Mr. X". Took Catharina (sp?) to Hotelo Colon later, (see old post under Hotel Colon) she wanted $20 for todas, I could have negotiated better and got $15. She said she works every night, but many chicas are probably semi-pros and only really there on Friday and Saturday nights, it gets really packed. She was ready, willing, very able, and there was no knock.

I would place Amor Latino and La Charrita in the same category.

Both those bars are not exactly gringo friendly, Amor Latino is OK but La Charrita really does seem unfriendly to gringos. Even Porker mentioned it once. I have no idea why.

Went there last Saturday night-Wanted to dance.

It's easy to dance there, so crowded that you can just rock back & forth while groping your "Dollar a dance" partner.

Found a VERY beautiful one, invited her to the dance floor, then warned her about my two left feet, and told her I might be wasting her time because I was just here to dance.

Danced out my 5 bucks, went back to the hotel (across the street) and got more money. handed her 20 bucks and said "You'll have to count the dances."

All in all I danced (OK, rocked back and forth) about 1 & 1/2 hours for my 25 Bucks. As 20 bucks gets you a 3-song lapdance at club lap-dance, this strectched my money out a ways.

Seems like she just dances a 6-hour shift four nights a week and nets double that of a factory worker. Did manage to step on her feet once - poor baby.

I have been in this place. There is something about the aroma of unwashed,overfed Mexican bodies that does not really get me too fired up about it. The music is absolutely appalling. On the other hand, no one has ever bothered me in there, but it is not my kinda bar.

I'm going this weekend and will give it a try on Friday and Saturday night. It sounds like my kind of place.

Well, you have to admit that it really is a DUMP? And that much of this board (probably for good reason) avoids that block of 1st street (AKA Bandito Alley) like the plague.

All this being said, it can be a fun place if you like to dance and drink cheap beer and like the atmosphere of a place where the chicas are total freelancers and can come and go as they please. I think SP is overrating the looks of the chicas, though. A don't remember too many hotties from my infrequent visits to this place. Probably higher caliber than its closest counterpart in the Zona proper, Bar La Gloria, though.

Somebody rate this place. I want to try it, but don't want to waste my time if there is not a second opinion stating the women are decent and cheap. And yes I do speak Spanish, or at least something that passes for it from time to time in spite of my whitebread looks!

I went in there once, but didn't see anything under 150 pounds.

Why not just poke your head in and see what's up for yourself? What are you investing? A two block walk from the Zona? A couple bucks for a beer? It's not like it's El Zorro Bar or something where you'll be scarred for life at the beasts you see within. The chicas there will be no worse (and maybe no better) than chicas at Charrita on the corner of the alley and Constitucion, which is like saying that there will likely be no raving beauties and a fair share of gorditas, but if you go on a weekend night there will be enough of them for you to find SOMETHING you'll like.

And the girls certainly will be cheap, though not all may want to go to the hotel with every guy that propositions them.

I second Senor Pauncho's opinion that better looking women go to this bar on the weekends. I saw a few cute ones go in there this past weekend.

God I love this place. I dance with the pretty girls (dollar a dance), flirt like crazy, and get away with murder. Of course most of the girls don't speak English.

For the record, about half to 3/4 of the girls go to the hotel. There are two easy ways to tell. If you ask a girl her goal in being there and she replies that she wants to buy a lot and build a house with a store in front, then she is a provider. I'm enjoying your posts about this place Señor Pauncho and I've heard positive things about it from other quarters. However, each and every time I've ever walked in there it was a morgue. That may be because 97% of my cameo appearances are in the middle of the week. But if the place only cooks on weekends, it's no good for me.

SP, just curious - have you spent any time at the "Rio Verde" across the street. That place is set up more like a hybrid strip joint/hostess club than a taxi dance hall. The girls and staff seem extremely pleasant and friendly...mostly gordas with angel faces (many seem interchangeable with the Fracaso chicas). Do you have a read on the chica culture at this bar?
