I have looked in there a couple of times, and did not see anything that made me want to stay.

Next week, there is suppose to be a new crop of girls coming to there, my old buddy carlos who now works at AB, explained to me the owners have hired or bought some girls or something to that effect, but they are coming next week sometime, you know i will be there

Stuck my head in about 10 or 11 on Friday night--totally dead. One decent looking chica outside told us to come back later, as there'd be more girls then, but we found our way to Miami and spent most of rest of the night there.

Went to La Tropa on Friday night March 30th at 1:00am, not much going on, about 12 girls, 4 were not bad lookding, 3 were ok, the rest leave home. Only about 4 guys in the place. Had a floor show. But this place was dead otherwise, don't see how they can stay in business, all the other places were packed.

While I was outside of Las Chavales eating a tamale, Marco walked up to me to tell be there was going to be some oil wrestling starting soon at La Tropa Bar. I went down to see it. Sure enough they had oil wrestling. It was on Friday night at 5:30. They said they would have another fight later on. Two cute girls in two piece bathing suits got in a large rubber swimming pool on the stage. The object was to tear each other's clothes off. What a great sight that was! Actually it was very sexy watching the girls go at it and end up naked with oil all over their bodies. They invited a guy from the audience to take on the girls. The object of the contest was to take each other's bottoms off. The girls had difficulty, but were able to get the guys underwear off. He was able to get the girls bottoms off. It looked like fun. I stayed there last year and it was clean,had a television channel selection much like Cascadas,and had a heavy duty fan mounted high on the wall that made it feel fairly comfortable in the summer.If they get some hotties in La Tropa I would give it another try.

I'm not sure if were talking about the same girl, but I'm pretty sure we are. Anyways, she gave a buddy of mine the same story. I saw her once after that( it had been about 2 months), and she told me she did not go upstairs. She did mention, about 10 times, that her sister did. Her sister wasn't there at the time, so I don't know what she looks like.

I just spent 10 days in TJ and several were at this club, young nice looking women, but to young for my tast. It is nice to see that they are trying to get some good looking girls

La Tropa: Skip it after 2 AM. 3 chicks, all ugly. A waiter friend said 10 PM is usually prime time there. I bet it sucks.

Give it a few months. There is probably a reason those bar owners purchased that dive in the first place and turned into a respectable place. Can you say the boarder walk will go right past it. How many college studs that don't know about the zona will stop in there for a beer and find out what the bar is all about.

Give it 6 months to a year and that place will be hopping, that is if they can make it that long.

Is Fetishes hopping? You can't really get any closer to the tourist party walk than that place.

Can't tell you if Fetishes is hopping as I have never been there myself. I have been in the majority of the Revolution strip bars and most of them get pretty crowded during certain periods. I see the border walk as being an extension of Revolution and La Tropa as a side street bar much the same as Maddona's. I have been in Maddona's on a Friday night and it was VERY crowded.

Why would the owners buy that previous dump and put that much money into it. I would think they are where they are, owning a number of Zona bars, by making intelligent decisions. But, on the other hand they shut down a somewhat popular Hong Kong bar a number of years ago.

Uh, cuz they're not so bright -- the Mexican Peter Principle in action? The current construction is sure putting a damper on your 'lure the numbnuts from Rev.' theory.

but around late 9ish to 10 there is about 12 to 15 chicas
they come and go becuase they do not make many pesos here.

Could La Tropa make it? Sure. They got decent gringo traffic when they had guys standing on the corner and telling people it was the 'new Hong Kong'. Of course it was all bullshit -- it was just the new Miami/HK hybrid of strip shows feturing American music then the Banda channel kicking in. They tried for a good 2-3 weeks, though, before all the chicas got fed up and quit working there.

They tried cherry-picking talent from Tropical, but that just turned the place into a more cozy version of Tropical in a much less convenient location. If they are going after a gringo market, and I can't imagine they built that fancy hotel on top of the bar so locals could crash after getting tuckered by all them two for one beers and dollar dances, they gotta stick to what works for all the other bars that draw gringos: hotties and American music. Leaving the damned A/C on would sure help too.

The facility at La Tropa is first rate. It could be GREAT. That it SUCKS is due to complete incompetence.

BTW there is new pool hall just around the corner from La Tropa on Rev. Nice place and they serve beer too...

I agree that La Tropa is a great space with a decent number of nice chicas the last few times I've visited. The big problem was lack of testosterone. It may seem ideal to be have a chica to hombre ratio as strong as it's been lately, but there's no throb in there...no life...no party. I walk into El Pollo lately and the joint is close to capacity with hombres staring at the TV screen - because there are next to zero chicas in that club these days. I'd like to see that crowd migrate over to La Tropa (or Manhattan for that matter) and liven up the party.

Btw, for those that enjoy lap dances, an amigo told me that he got some very good ones over there from a chica right off the bus...that the booths are excellent...that a session with her upstairs after the lap dances was great.

The place has also offered live bands, oil wrestling and "foxy boxing". No matter what they do, the hombres are staying away during most of the hours the club is in operation.

I was there a couple of times this last week around 7:00, there where between 10-15 girls there and about 6 or 7 were pretty nice looking. Two others were not good at all, but over all not as bad as LC was this last week.

Do you know how much the Hotel Zona Norte charges to stay there overnight? How does it compare to Cascadas? The real disadvantage that I can see is that it would be inconvienient compared to Cascadas if you want to take a street girl there. I do know a few that would probably go over there with me at the end of their shift. Also do you think there would be any hassles bringing in girls that don't work in La Tropa?
Anyone else who knows about this place is welcome to chime in.

There's a thread on Hotel Zona Norte where Taxibob tackles most of these questions from personal experience. I have never been to a Hotel Zona Norte room. I am pretty sure you can bring in any chica who will have you with no problems from the hotel, and I would be shocked if the cost of a room for the night is more than $30. I'd wager that it's the same price as Cascadas, or $28 a night.

Stopped by there recently. Amazed to see a bunch of absolutely gorgeous young chicas. Shopped around a bit but, like Tropical, some just don't seem to go upstairs at all. They should be made to wear a sign, "ficha" or "fucka". Would appreciate hearing from others, particularly names and milage.

visited this place several days ago and found it to be a lot of fun. several nice looking young chicas with good attitudes. 10 beer bucket for $15 and ficha drinks were $6. lots of dancers, american music--a few employees that speak good english including one chica.
got the oppurtunity to talk with the manager and he is trying to make this a bar that gringos can have a good time in. he said he may bring back the oil wrestling. anyway if you go visit make sure you get a chance to visit with him--he´s not one of those guys that acts as if he knows it all. he took the time to listen to what i had to say and asked me to express any concerns to him personally.
i don´t think they have an afternoon crowd as of yet, but there was a nice crowd in there friday and saturday night. a full bar but seating fow everyone. each waiter and waitress would take my money and hold it out in front and call out the denomination so that we agreed before he or she left. it was very refreshing--i am sure that no games are tolerated from the help at this bar. on friday night one of the waitresses partied all night as she worked and i think that may be common in this place. the manager also told me that there was going to be renovation between his bar and adelitas. i think this place could soon be a gringo favorite---give it a shot.
btw don´t know how the prices for going upstairs works so you are on your own there.

Huh? This sentence makes no sense. Sorry Sampson, I am not trying to be a smart ass - I simply have no idea what you are saying, as the phrase "going to be renovation between" is just not proper English, and I can't make a guess as to what you mean. La Tropa and Adelitas are owned by totally different people, and they are 2 1/2 blocks apart, so I'm clueless (yes, I realize what an opening I am leaving for you jokesters out there.) The only possibility I can think of is that you meant "resmblance" instead of "renovation", and/or you got the name of one or bath bars wrong.

Unless he means there may be more places fixing up(renovation) and opening in the dark area of what i believe may be block and a half instead of two and a half blocks between La Tropa and Adelitas which may make it a less scary walk for many gringos.

Like Sampson above, I, too, hit it off with an English-speaking waitress and was genuinely impressed with the quantity and quality of the Tropicalesque (read: Young!) chicas here...

Does anyone remember Nirvana from about 6 months ago at La Tropa?-- she used to oilwrestle...Could've swore I saw her running around the place with some of her teenage amigas...

Anyway...

I was very pleasantly surprised as I had long since-- like many other Hombres I assume-- written this place off...

i am not the most elegant writer in the world so let me tell you what that was suppose to mean. the area between the two bars is going to be cleaned up(renovated) so that it will look nicer and appear not to be a dangerous place between the two bars. the two bars do have some type of association according to the manager at la trop. now he also told me that he was working hard to add chicas to his club--several chicas left but then returned after other clubs failed to make good on their promises.
