I arrived at Tropical as planned right at 3:30. The floor show had just started. The show was AWESOME! Every girl was interesting. There is a new one, named Celeste, who is very sexy. Well I never had any problems with this guy at Trop. and now he is at LC, he helps me with taking to some of the girls, I still don't speak a lot of spanish. Also he was the first one to point out to me Sat. that buckets were only 22.00, and this price lasted my entire trip Sat. Sunday on Monday, day or night. Will someone please tell me what is the real story with some of these fine young chica's at this place? I've read all the postings from fellow mongers, especially paying attention to Daytimer's postings, but I'd like to know if they ALL go upstairs for the right price. Don't confuse the restriction on the chicas that they CAN'T approach YOU (set by management) with a lack of interest in going up to the hotel with you.

Its a different set up than AB, the chicas won't approach you, YOU need to summon THEM. After that, the chances are pretty good that they will go to the hotel with you.

Yeah, but I read somewhere from some fellow monger where he said he walked over to two chica's at the Tropical and asked them to join him and they said no, so he walked across to the AB ( I think it may have been"Billfromreading.")

Bar Tropical (among others) recruits girls on the premise that they can make good money as meseras and fichitas. Some of the girls come actually believing that and don't know about the prostitution aspect. A lot of them leave within a month or two becaue they refuse to do this. This accounts for the fresh off the bus girls every month or so. This is also why you will often find girls there who will not go to the room with you.

It's hard to state a percentage of how many will go to the hotel with ANYBODY who has the right price because there is high turnover. Typically when a new crop of chicas come to Tropical they will try and make a living primarily through fichas and dances. When necessary they may supplement their income with hotel sessions. These putas in training will be selective and don't go simply for the asking. However, if you buy them a few drinks and make them feel comfortable with you, you may score.

You can also try to enlist the help of a waiter...ask if a chica who you have your eyes on will go upstairs. If he doesn't know, he'll certainly carry the inquiry to her. If your Spanish sucks, waiters will help you negotiate a hotel session with a chica. However, if you're going the route of "tenderizing" her over a few drinks, you can't necessarily rely on any waiter's information that she'll eventually go to the hotel with you since they have a reputation for hidden agendas, or may just tell you what they think you want to hear.

On the other hand, the more established chicas (e.g. the floorshow dancers) are easier pickings. I believe it was Porker who advised me to look for the chicas with cell phones hanging from their belts...those are the sure things!

Anyway you look at it, Tropical and bars like it are NOT like AB/CC. They generally require more patience, savvy, language ability, and risk of rejection...unless you choose the chicas with the cell phones.

I wasn't aware that they were not permitted to approach customers, though they rarely do (but they do sometimes).

I have a different take on girls with cell phones, my opinion is that cell phones are a leading indicator that the girl has been working too long. That and black leather jackets.

The reason is that most chicas can convince themselves to work at BT (once they get over the shock that its a hooker bar) because they can send $$ to their family, usually their money who is taking care of the kiddies.

However, once they start buying expensive stuff for themselves, it means that they have a surplus of cash, and plan to stick around TJ for a while (the cell phone will have a TJ number). They get jaded, a couple of novios, and start using drugs. Those chicas are generally worthless in the room, they view customers as potential victims.

Well that is really the whole point...they've settled in for the long haul and they know what they have to do. I'm not sure why you see them as victimizers any more than the AB/CC vets who understand that they are in the zona to be hookers. In any event, I would agree that it is generally more rewarding to capture one of the less jaded ones...no matter what bar you're hunting in.

The chicas with cell phones seem to me to be thinking very short term, with no regard for the consequences of providing bad service. They've generally been in TJ for six months, and haven't seen too many repeat customers. The typical such chica has run into money for the first time in her life, and considers herself to be the queen of the Zona, even if they aren't the hottest thing in the bar.

The AB/CC women are generally older, and know that value of a repeat customer, at least to a greater extent. Unless they are first tier, they struggle a bit to get by in these tough times, and so are more likely to provide good service.

I do enjoy spending time with the chicas just off the bus. Sometimes the experience is great, and sometimes it is *awful*, though. There's no predicting it.

Oh, one more thing, since we WILL get into the subject of chicas just off the bus, and stories about those who want to get money to go home.

Rather than attempt to donate cash to these chicas' 'go home' fund, try this: find out how much money they need to get home, and offer that sum for an all nighter. If they don't accept, it means that either their story is a scam, or they don't really, really want to go as quickly as they claim.

Never, never, hand them the cash they need outright, it just encourages them to stick around the bar for more suckers - don't feed the bears, make them work for a living.

I agree with Explorer on this point! This has always been one of my favorite techniques in any service provider situation.

Sure I'll listen to what ever their sad story is ... need money to go home, baby needs some medicine, etc, etc. I'll try to appear sympathetic and understanding then I will make them an offer that they shouldn't refuse based on their need.

Usually I offer the amount that they need (assuming it's not some outrageous amount) in exchange for some personal service. I assume that if they refuse my offer then they aren't really in as much need as they say.

Remember, every scammer will accept free money if you offer it but they don't want to give anything in exchange(having a fair exchange defeats their reason for scamming...wanting something for nothing); however, a non-scammer caught in a bind should be more willing to do what needs to be done in order to correct her situation and set things moving in the right direction.

My concern is, I've seen so many real good looking chica's at the Tropical around late afternoon, at about 4:00 or 5;00 pm although not always mustering up enough courage to ask them to join me in a drink because they always seem to be off into themselves or sitting with a bunch of their friends and it makes it somewhat uncomfortable to try a play the guessing game as to whether or not they will go upstairs with you. Tropical (and LC across the street) were really movin' and shakin' Thursday afternoon. I was surprised at the crowds at both places.
