I was recently approached by the manager of TB to post this message. He claims that he truly wants to make the TB experience better for us mongers in 2002!
And of course ALL posts will remain confidential.
I'll start by saying... More Fricken Light, especially along the chica benches. I hate wasting $7 bucks on a drink to find out she's got bad skin and silver teeth!
By Blazers on Sunday, December 30, 2001 - 11:44 pm: Edit |
In addition, please tell him
1. End the cheese plate.
2. Prohibit all maseros from fraternizing with girls. If they do, they're fired. They introduce girls to drugs and attempt to be their padrote, only to scare them back to Culiacan. I want the hot rancheritas to stay.
3. Don't hire underage girls.
4. Keep recruiting from Culiacan.
By Redongdo on Sunday, December 30, 2001 - 11:57 pm: Edit |
Tell him to knock the girls drinks down to 4-5 bucks and he'll sell more.
By Maverick on Monday, December 31, 2001 - 08:43 am: Edit |
And tell him to ease up on the Pine Sol. A little goes a long way.
By Robertosol on Monday, December 31, 2001 - 08:48 am: Edit |
Get rid of the cheese plate, the girls should not gulp down the drinks with great rapidity, and decrease the Ranchero/Banda music, increase the club music that is played during the strip shows. Otherwise good improvements are being made with attractive girls and longer strip shows.
By Maverick on Monday, December 31, 2001 - 09:15 am: Edit |
Also, it would be nice if they made the girls move around alittle and not all congregate on the benches by the door. In the past I have spotted a cutie who I wanted to buy a drink for and see if I wanted more, but felt stupid going up to her while she's sitting in her little group of friends. And I'm not into telling the waiter to "bring that one over." It's too mechanical; I prefer to approach myself. I suspect there are others that feel the same- it's just easier when the girls are spread out and not acting like a bunch of indentured servants waiting to be ordered around.

hi
I agree on the lights.
One time i thought i was holding the hand of a chica and it ended up being Regongdo instead.
Keep the chica drinks at a price so the girls can make a living and the waiters make a decent buck so they do not have to hit up people for the beloved cheese plates.
I think $ 5 or $6 would benifit everyone.
The girls do not make that much from these drinks.
And some girls just make their living on these drinks.
Being cheaper than $ 7 would be great because mongers will buy more than just 1.
Some bars in La Mesa the girls make double on what the girls on the Zona Norte make on ficha drinks .
Give these poor waiters a break , many our my friends that i hang out with at Pulgas and they are great guys. I am not saying that are all 100 percent on the level.
I could tell you stories that would turn you blue about these guys.
If you have a problem or think that you have been ripped off just see the waiter and explain camply your problem , if nothing happens ask to see a manager to help you out.
I am not defending any of them that ripp you off , that sucks and they deserve retribution but this is not the USA and you can only do so much to guard yourself against this.
I happen to find the cheese plate problem extremely funny and bust these guys balls every time i see them In pulgas.
Just simply say no.
Oh and it is not just the waiters that offer the drugs to the chicas , it is the clubs , the more they can stay awake the more they can make for the club.
These clubs are not into the sensitivity business , if so they wouldnt recruit defenseless chicas in poor parts of mexico.
Management has very little say in business in mexico , it is the owners who have the bottom line. managers make just a little more than the waiters.
I doubt anything said to mr. manager would have any impact on future events at Tropical.
have a happy New Year guys
Milky

I agree with the lights, the cheese plate. Also having better music like during the strip shows would help, most of the girls seem to like this music, so why not play more of it. I also think the girls should walk around the club at least every hour so you can get a good look, I don't feel real like going over and looking at a girl when she is seated talking to all of her friends. The girls whould get more business if the walk around, that's better for them, the bar and we mongers.
By Daytimer on Monday, December 31, 2001 - 01:36 pm: Edit |
I am a fan of BT. I like the "natural" sort of girls. I love AB and CC, but I enjoy going to BT for something different.
I think the music should stay the way it is. Most of the customers are Mexicans and most of the dancing I see with the customers is to the Mexican music. I think the club would loose it's Mexican flavor if they played more club music. If someone wants only American club music then there are other clubs to go to(CC being one). I love dancing to the Mexican music and I love watching the girls wiggle their butts to the music.
The strip shows have been very good the past few months. Last night was awesome!!! They are going in the right direction with that.
They should fire the waiters who cheat the customers (I like most of the waiters). It does not happen often, but in the last year I have been cheated at least three times. The most common trick is the switching the dollar for the twenty dollar trick. I am on to that, so they don't get away with it. But it really hurts their business when the waiters pull that trick or don't bring the change back.
Their two for one beer deal up until the mid evening time is excellent. They should keep that deal going.
The lap dances would sell better if they were cheaper. $10 per dance should be the most charged. I think the girls would be surprised how much they could make if the dances were $5. Guys would get hooked on them and the girls would find themselves making some pretty good money by the end of the evening.
Overall they have been doing a pretty good job during the past year.
By Blazers on Monday, December 31, 2001 - 01:54 pm: Edit |
Milkman..your points are well taken but the level of professionalism from the waiters must change.
In AB and CC, the waiters know better than to attempt to be the chicas padrote or pressure them into drugs. At Tropical, the manager turns a blind eye to this. Allow the chicas to work there without getting hassled by predatorial waiters.
I'm not saying that these girls are totally innocent on this issue but the maseros need to understand their place in the club. I see these guys slow dancing for hours with these girls and sitting down and drinking with them...huh?
If the manager knows what's best he will discourage corruption of the waiters..he encourages it. In addition, the americanos will not go there if all of the hot talent gets scared back to Culiacan because of these idiot waiters giving them a hard time. I have some sympathy for the chicas but none for the waiters at Tropical. At AB, the waiters are my friends. At Trop, they are my enemy.
"Just serve me my agua mineral and shut the fuck up. Your not a padrote or pimp or romeo. You're a masero. Live it, learn it, know it."
By Senor Pauncho on Monday, December 31, 2001 - 04:12 pm: Edit |
For what it's worth - every time that the street barkers at Tropical and Las Chevalas (I hope I got the right places - I sure as fuck never go there) bug me, I tell 'em "I don't want no fuckin' cheese plate" and keep on walking.
By Redongdo on Monday, December 31, 2001 - 04:55 pm: Edit |
Blazers,
You are right on re: the waiters not messing with the girls. When I worked the clubs in North Beach it was more or less an unofficial rule that you didn't mess with the girls you worked with. I always hooked up with the ones that worked in other clubs, of if I did get involved with the ones I worked with we kept it real low profile.

I was in here with hippie and porker probably a little over a year ago and I walked in the bathroom to find the waiters selling heroin to a dumb gringo so I stepped in and tossed the dope. They were pissed and the next thing I know the manager comes up and offers to buy us a bottle. Of course I refused. Make sure you don't buy drugs in Mexico. 90% of the time the waiter will set you up anyway and you will be in the arms of tijuanas most corrupted.

sorry to pull an explorer on you but I find this very hard to believe.
this is no flame , so do not take it like one.
if you really did that, i am glad you are still alive to talk about it.
Fuckin with dealers , low or high level is very dangerous.
Why would you step in , you acting alone have no power over any locals nor protection ?
this just doesnt make any sense , perhaps you left out something ?
Whats preventing them from beating the piss out of you ?
I have witnessed waiters/doormen beating the piss out of people for smaller things.
Why would the manager come to you table and offer to buy you a bottle ?
You probably cost him some money.
He just mysteriously found out about this ?
Did hippie or Porker witness this ?
I dont know , of all the posts This has to be the most non believable post i have read on this board.
I know a lot of the tropical waiters and still friends with a lot of the older ones that do not work there and they would have done some serious damage to a gringo for doing this.
I hang with decent size locals that wouldn't play that shit.
Your a brave man
Happy New Year

Guys, keep in mind that the managers at the zona bars have a very limited amount of power. Many of the things you are requesting could only be accomplished by the owners. If the manager tjjohny is talking about is who I think it is, he is indeed a good guy who truly wants to do whatever he can to make the club more popular.
As far as the incident Ahora007 is talking about, I can only attest to what I actually saw and heard: I went to the bathroom shortly before him, and there were a couple of lowlife-looking guys standing around in there besides the attendant. A couple of minutes later Ahora007 went (or maybe we went in at the same time but he returned to the table later, I'm not sure.) He asked if I had seen the guys dealing drugs. I said no, but that I had not really paid any attention. A few seconds later he gets up and goes back into the bathroom, and does not come back for awhile. When he does, he says that he had flushed their heroin down the toilet and threatened them. A little later, a guy who may have been the manager comes over and talks to him for awhile. I did not hear the conversation. He tells me that the manager wanted to know what was up, and essentially offered to buy us a bottle if he would back off. A few minutes later Ahora007 said he thought it would be a good idea if he left the club. We did, and he avoided the place for several months thereafter. In summary, I can't attest to the veracity of all that he says, but I can say that his story has not changed in the year and a half or so since the incident happened.

One thing they need to do, is keep the girls prices in line. Tropical used to be my favorite club but now many of the chicas are asking for $70-$80 for the hotel. What the fuck??? That is way out of line for a small club like that.
By Ahora007 on Tuesday, January 01, 2002 - 08:39 pm: Edit |
Milkman I will not take that as a flame. You don't know me so I don't expect you to beleive me but it happened "beleive it or not" Most zona owners that have been around for a while know me and have seen me working as I was alot more visible before we changed tactics so they generally know not to fuck with me. They also know that I will not be bought. Thanks for the post hippie. Milkman maybe you should ask before you call me a liar. Happy new year
By Hippie on Wednesday, January 02, 2002 - 12:17 am: Edit |
Tomas, I wonder if it started with Gloria and Erika (the gorgeous one, not Gloria's amiga). They were the first that I remember who asked really ridiculous prices, like $100 for 30 minutes, and sometimes got them.
The manager can't set prices, but he can certainly suggest to the girls that they lower them if they want to make money. I think it is something of a status thing, which is a much bigger deal there than at most clubs, due to the girls being so young and cliquish.
By Explorer8939 on Wednesday, January 02, 2002 - 08:55 am: Edit |
Its all supply and demand. If idiots continue to pay what the chicas are asking, the price will remain high.
By Milkman on Wednesday, January 02, 2002 - 09:34 am: Edit |
hi explorer
someone paying more does not make them an idiot.
I have said this many times before - pussy is way undervalued in TJ.
60 , 80 or even 100 dollars is a bargain for pussy.
anyone paying 30 40 50 a session should be very happy with that cost.
i think that if the zona had a major union and had 3 price structures 60 , 80 and 100 depending on the chicas looks , the zona would not be affected at all !
some may agree with me and some may not
take care

I was quoted $70 at Tropical recently. And no leeway. Flat out it's $70 or nothing.
It was worth every penny.
In fact I can't wait to get back there to waste some more money.
But no more of the waiters crap! One waiter brought a ficha drink for a girl AFTER she had already left.
I went in there about 4PM Monday, and had every waiter in the place all over me. What you want, a girl? You want her? A drink? Here, sit here. I was the center of about 6 waiters all talking at once.
Finally one said, in very good English, "What do you like here?"
I said "I like it here because the fucking waiters leave me alone and don't bother me".
He looked at me, and at the crowd of waiters around me, and said something to them in Spanish. They all left like I had suddenly sprouted horns.
OK, OK. I didn't actually say "fucking waiters", just "waiters".
But NEXT time....
By Maverick on Wednesday, January 02, 2002 - 10:44 am: Edit |
I agree that if the top-tier girls raise prices to $100.00 they will still have plenty of money. We are getting desensitized because we see them all the time, are always in the Zona, and can get laid anytime we feel like it. But for most guys going down there its an event, and when they see something they really want they will pay. "Good" pussy is undervalued in TJ, whether or not we want to admit it. I have so many friends from SD that won't go to TJ out of ignorance and fear (and I don't want to convert them-why make it more crowded) but will pay $300 for 1/2 hour with al call girl off the internet- or pay more than that in Las Vegas. We are lucky.
By Explorer8939 on Wednesday, January 02, 2002 - 11:58 am: Edit |
If a TB girl quotes you $70, and will not back down, drag your ass over to one of the other 30 chicas there, and take her up to the hotel for $40.
Don't be a fugitive from the law of supply and demand.
By Tomas on Wednesday, January 02, 2002 - 01:09 pm: Edit |
Hippie, I think managment suggests to them to charge $70-$80 dollars for the hotel. Hell the waiters might even get a kickback if the girl they bring over charge that much.
I know some of you don't care what it costs, but I do. Mongering is a hobbie, and inflated prices will only make those of us who go on a regular basis go somewhere else. Jonny asked us what we thought about making Tropical better. This is Mexico, not the U.S. Eighty dollars IS way out of line for a bar like Tropical.
By Altogringo on Wednesday, January 02, 2002 - 06:40 pm: Edit |
Rule of thumb in Mexico is always quote a price of from 50 to 70% of what they know they would be happy with(regardless of whether they have sense enough to take it)..
It's sort of like "ask for the most and take what cums" ;o)
By Curiousone on Wednesday, January 02, 2002 - 09:59 pm: Edit |
Advice will be appreciated . . .
I use to go to TB and scored some great chicas for good prices. The last 4 times in there, including new years day (late evening?, all 4 chikcs I have propositioned have told me that they do not go up; which is in stark contrast to my experiences in the summer. Has there been a change of policy?
By Porker on Thursday, January 03, 2002 - 03:08 pm: Edit |
What can they do to make Tropical better? Firing 80% of the waiters would be a damned good start. There are too frickin' many of them and they trip all over each other. The only way they can make a buck is scamming customers and/or girls. The ones that speak a little English seem to be conning the girls into thinking they're like 'liaisons' for gringos or something. I'm sure they're not doing it altruistically. Milkman, if these guys are your friends, be careful, as they are NOT the salt of the Earth you are making them out to be.
As far as the girls go, let 'em charge what they think they're worth, but make 'em stay in the damned bar during their shift. As it is, they can come and go as they please. You'll see anywhere from 3-25 chicas actually in the bar on the same shift, and they are most definitely NOT in the room w/ clientes!
By Ahora007 on Thursday, January 03, 2002 - 03:32 pm: Edit |
I have always had the same problem with the girls in tropical not wanting to go upstairs the few times I have gone. There may be 2 reasons.
1. Their fear of being crushed by my enormous girth
2. They are so new they have not been properly broken in yet.
I prefer to beleive it is the 2nd

A question for you BT mongers:
Have you considered making 'friends' with a mesera? Certainly a mesera would view you differently than a mesero, especially if you ocassionally took her to the hotel.
I know one such mesera, but I can't get her help with the chicas since her sister is my bar favorita at BT. But, once her sister has left the business....
By Pecs on Friday, January 04, 2002 - 08:18 am: Edit |
I've tried to make friends with the meseras, but I get the same results as from the girls. Real unfriendly and unwilling to talk. I even tip the bitches and they are just so cold. I used to use Miguel but now he is one of the managers and is too busy.
Used to be a fun place and I'll keep going but never stay too long.
By Explorer8939 on Friday, January 04, 2002 - 02:26 pm: Edit |
Well, when and if my favorita splits, I will try taking one of the mesera to the hotel to see if that loosens her up.

One of the advantages of making friends in Bar Tropical, is that the chicas will take over the job of telling all those damn sales people to go away. How many fricken times do people ask you to buy chicklets or peanuts while you are doing the ficha thing with a chica?

Porker pretty much hits the nail on the head as far as I'm concerned.
Let the cute little waitress bring us beer and let the chicas be more available is the short answer.
In addition, the following personal requests would get my undevided (well minamally at least) dinero:
Make Valeria keep a regular schedule
Post Valeria's schedule here at Club hombre
Hang a sign when Valeria is working
Keep a spotlight on Valeria's legs when she sits at the bar
Clone Valeria
Did I mention Valeria?

Recommendation:
At the time of this writing, the TB practice is when the waiter brings your drink, he takes your payment, walks to the bar, then returns to you with the change. Often this can take a long time to get the change back and they have to be reminded. I don't know if this is another gimmick or not. But they should carry changes just like the waiters in AB and CC.
By Redongdo on Sunday, January 20, 2002 - 07:48 pm: Edit |
Changes of what? Underwear? HAH!
Actually this is how most of the waitpeople do it in TJ. You have to remember the waiter/tress..by face/number. Watch them when they go to the bar and watch them when they come back. They'll know you're looking at them.
If they have to be reminded to bring back your change.....guess what? No underwear...er..propina!

I agree about the number of masero(a)s. It is to the point of being funny. One time last Thursday, when I ordered a drink for my Favorita and me, four different waiters asked if I wanted more drinks. Each time I told them I already ordered. Even my Favorita started laughing at how ridiculous it was.
My Favorita also insisted on using the maseras. I think, though she would not say, she does not like the maseros very much. I would agree the maseras are a lot nicer to deal with. Though I have to say, I have been treated pretty well by all the employees the past three months. No rip offs have been attempted. It may be just luck, but that was not the case a few months ago.
