This will be an area on which mongers can help each other will finding chicas outside the zona.
This will include Discos , perhaps Fiestas for singles , areas to pick up a chica and what to expect from a non zona chica.
I do know a lot of real chicas in TJ and have been thinking of setting up some sort of big Fiesta - maybe this will become a reality if I have enough interested amigos.
Please feel free to add anything you wish on these subjects.
Thanks for your inputs and time

This is the kind of thing I was looking for before. Does TJ have a dating sercvice for guys from the U.S. who want to meet ladies who live south of the border? I e-mailed the TJ Tourist Board but they never replied.
I'm interested. you can count me in.

Milky.....This is a good idea. You bring a different dimension to this board that is very interesting. There is a side to TJ that most of us mongers don't know about.
Did you see the San Diego Union paper yesterday? There was an article in the weekly pull-out section, Night and Day, about the clubs in TJ. You and others might find it to be interesting reading. This is the link to the article titled, "Rockin' in the City".

Giovanni....There is an Internet dating service in TJ where you can hook up with women in TJ who are interested in marriage. This is the link: http://www.mexicanmatchmaker.com/
By Robertx on Sunday, December 02, 2001 - 11:14 am: Edit
Thanks for the Tribune Link. As for internet dating: I used www.matchmaker.com in the past. It is free for a 2 week trial and they have the most girls of any of the SD based services. You can search for latinas. If you, like I did, look for latinas between 21 and 30 without children the selection is very small. If you are willing to date girls with kids it looks much better.
Since the girls have to be able to use a computer, it selects the smarter and more educated chicas.

Thanks for the info. Daytimer, I will deinitely be looking into this web site.
RobertX- are you still using this dating service? And if not, why not?
By Robertx on Tuesday, December 04, 2001 - 12:49 am: Edit
I am currently dating, so no need for the search for a GF right now. Plus I had more success going to singles nights at clubs. It takes so much more time and energy to check someone out over the Internet, than live. I ended up E-mailing a chica for weeks, finally meeting her and knowing in seconds that I didn't like her. Pictures are so much more deceiving than the real deal (and even that can be deceiving).

Mill-Keys Top 5 ways to hook up with a real Mexican chica
1 . Being referred through a friend
This is the best way to meet a real girl.
Age range -- unlimited
How? A local who knows you and has a friend that is also solo can easily set you guys up.
Plus factor - This girl who trusts her friend is being set up with a nice man to take her out to dinner, the movies and the breaking ice factor is already done through the friend! You always have that friend to tell you the scoop on if your date likes you and can give you personal info to help you
Minus factor - You are at the mercy of your friend who hopefully has good taste in women. Not really any other negatives about this one!
2. Dating services in TJ
Age range - unlimited
How? Look in the TJ yellowpages for these services.
Plus factor - You have your choice of women you like to meet from photos and or video.
It is an introductory service so the chicas that have gone to this company are actively looking for a boyfriend/husband
The cost is a joke compared to the USA dating services.
Minus factor- Like you, these chicas have photos to go through. Me personally I do not take photos very well and they can be deceiving. Lots of these chicas might have some baggage. If you are cheap the cost of the service might drive you away to other means of finding a chica.
3. Nightclubs
Age range 18 through 45
How?TJ nightlife is unlike anything reminds me of New York nightlife.
There are many nightclubs and party areas in TJ.
All cater to different crowds and can be very fun.
Plus factor - Most of these clubs have ladies nights. Your choice of TJ finest women is at your fingertips. Your calling the shots. Liquor helps this part out. Its a big party scene. A plus if you know how to dance, add 20 points to your night if you can salsa!
Minus factor-Ladies night does not mean singles night. It is hard to penetrate a group of girls. You must be on cue with everything you do. Your calling the shots might also be a bad thing. You need game to work the nightclubs. Proper attire is a must. Your only the 20th guy that has tried to get her number that night. It is hard to break into the crowd if you are new. It might take time to know the ropes and style of each different club. If you do not dance you need to stick to the clubs with no dancefloor.
Note:
I put this number 3 but this is a tough way to meet chicas to be your novia.
4. Cold calling
Age range 18 through 40
How? You see a nice looking girl in the street, mall, salon, store and walk up to her and introduce yourself and take it from there. Perhaps asking her to join you for some coffee for starters.
Plus factor - You make the calls, You pick the chicas.
Minus factor - Who the hell are you? Oh your a tourist looking for the border?
Perv! Her boyfriend is shopping in the store. Do you know if she is single?
I could go on and on with these Minuses!
5. Data driven websites
Age range -- unlimited
How there are tons of data driven websites to meet chicas Yahoo, AOL ect....
Its just like a dating service except costs a fraction.
Plus Factor - Again pictures are the only reason why these sites are up.
Tons of features at your fingertips. You choose the chicas you want. No attire needed. Little game needed except for a good letter to be written by you.
Minus Factor - Who are these girls? Wait you saw the same girl in a porn site?
You written 20 dozen times with no response? Will you ever get to meet that girl who is corresponding from Chiapas ? Is this site a scam ?
My top 5 ways to meet a real Mexican chica

Mill-Keys Top 5 ways to hook up with a real Mexican chica
Somewhere in the middle of 2 1/2 and 4
Placing an ad in the El Mexicano newspaper
Age range -- unlimited
How? A great way to meet girls of all ages that are looking for a man and see you ad in the paper.
Plus factor These girls already know you are an American looking for a girlfriend or wife. They contact you , just place your ad and wait
for the calls to come in. Cost is around 25 to 30 a week for a decent ad.
Minus factor - Breaking the ice with these girls . you never know what you are gonna get from an 18 year old to an 80 year old chica calling you. from flaca to mucho gordo !!! Can be costly if you are doing it every week. The time it takes to meet everyone and weed them out can be painfull.

Mexican women aren't some alien species. While there are cultural differences, when it comes to meeting a Mexicana my approach isn't THAT different from meeting gringas. The main obstacle is that your "average" Mexicana tends to be very conservative and traditional, especially when it comes to dating and romance. The truth is many "real" traditional Mexicana's don't trust gringos and are convinced all we're interested in is noncommittal sex. Convincing them your not a typical sex crazed gringo is an important first step to gaining their trust..a difficult first step for most on this board IMHO.
By Chargers on Thursday, December 06, 2001 - 07:49 am: Edit
Toehead, that's the exact oposite of my experience with Mexican women(and I've dated them almost exclusivly for the past 20 years). Mexican women think(mostly from experience) that Mexican men are interested in is noncommittal sex, and sex crazed macho men. And they think we are these Liberal minded(by thier standards) guys that will treat them more like equals(help with housework, raising the kids, ect)

hi daytimer
i have met him along with lots of other tj business men and reffered some people to him.
2 got hooked up with chicas , the other nothing panned out becuase he was looking for a zona girl not a wife.
the sad ending to this is the gentleman that ran this suffered a major stroke this summer and is bedridden.
I bumped into his wife and visited him in the hospital , he is in very bad shape , cannot move half his body.
He suffered the stroke on an airplane in mexico city.
I think his site is still up but nothing is working on it and thats all i know for now.
There was another guy who ran a mexican dating site from san deigo but was using models and had to close his site down.

Chargers, looks like we'll have to agree to disagree. I've dated a few and am married to one, as a result I'm surrounded by them all the time..NOT that it makes me an authority on what all Mexican women think, I'm just sharing my thoughts on one of the larger cultural differences I've observed. I think that what you've heard may be more true of the better educated more affluent Mexicanas while my experience's have mainly been with the small town Rancherita's. It's important to remember the young Mexican men are raised with all the same catholic dogma and guilt as the gals and know that in order to have sex they'll first have to make a commitment to the gal as few of them believe in using contraception..so they get married, have a big wedding, have a few kids, then split. Even Westfargo (who I couldn't stand) knew that in order to have sex with a "real" Mexicana he'd first have to get "engaged" to her..as big a farce as that act may have been. Most Gringos simple aren't willing to make that kind of a commitment, especially before they've sampled the merchandise.

Why are you hanging out with girls from a rancho when there are hot (and educated) middle and upper class ones everywhere? Just a question.
By Milkman on Thursday, December 06, 2001 - 11:16 am: Edit
Hola Powerslave
Glad to see you jump into this discussion.
Your comments or questions are always welcomed.
I have dated girls from all ranges.
My first girl was a high class chica and i dumped her stupidly for my first ficha chica , i was going on looks instead of personality.
If I had to do it all over again I would not have made the change.
1 girl which i met through a friend was a high class chica that was divorced and had her own condo in a high class gated community on the beach near Rosarito.
Only whiteys lived there and it was like a ghosttown during the week because most of them lived in Sandiego/ Los Angeles.
She had the place to herself most of the time.
Our relationship was based on fucking and not much more she was just 19 and married a very wealthy doctor from the usa who left her for a Columbian chica.
I was her medicine ?
She was better looking than any HC chica at whorealitas!
I see her once in a while and I do miss her she is now with a 40ish year old guy who works for the Mexican government.
There are others powerslave but i need not to get into them all.
But to answer your question I have dated all kinds.
I like banda , cumbia , norteno music more than spanish rock or pop.
So that is why you will see me in Pulgies a lot , it has nothing to do with class of chicas.
I often get bashed by some of the members of this board in a friendly way - either by email or on the phone and they say " milky how can you stand those Norteno clubs such as Pulgies"
It just like the atmosphere I guess plus
I can blend in at any club though , zona rio , plaza fiesta , rev ave ......
Those who have met me know what i am saying and talking about.
Now i must be kinda carefull because i do have a full time chica in TJ and she knows more people there than i do and that is saying something !!!
take care Powerslave and I would like to hook up with you 1 day. Do you hit TJ often i would quess so from your postings.
You always have educated & helpfull things to say when you post.

Milkman, I do not know how you can handle that norteña shit either. Too each his own....
With regards to poor chicas, it has been my experience that Mexicans with little money have little education, and, even worse, little aspiration to get education. When I, anyway, am in a relationship, my first priority is that the girl takes it in the ass and swallows (lol), but after that she also has to be intelligent. Not necessarily advanced degrees, but able to maintain an interesting conversation and curious about learning. Many (but not all) middle class girls are. I have yet to meet a ranchera girl who is.
If you are just looking to nail some ass, whores or Pulga girls are great. But, at least in my opinion, a girl must also be intelligent to be in a relationship with me.
For the record, I have a long time Mexican citizen girlfriend, who has nothing to do with the zona, and that is why I have kind of been staying away from the zona lately.
On a side note, the GF is a good girl and likes to drink and raise hell. She has hinted to me that we should go to see the strip shows in the coahuila. That would be just fucking great, as I am still known (and not necessarily in a friendly manner) to a number of the working girls...
I avoid revolution, as I don't want to accidentally kill a gang banger, but like to hang out in Sotano Suizo in plaza fiesta and Boomerangs in Playas. I will probably be in Suizos next Friday (12-14)
By POWERSLAVE on Thursday, December 06, 2001 - 12:24 pm: Edit
BTW ask Ahora007 and Superman about my "educated and helpful things to say". LOL
I live in Tijuana, so I suppose you could say I hit it often (like every day) However unless I am in the above mentioned bars, I do most of my drinking and partying at private parties either at my house or at the houses of friends. Cheaper that way.

Speaking of Norteña shit music, hard core listeners of Norteña tend to HATE heavy metal. I used to have neighbors who thought they were hot shit with there banda music, until I my speakers in my window and played Pantera at full volume. After a few weeks of that, they moved.

i have respect for every type of music.
i used to program urban music at a college radio station in mass and right after my show was a speedmetal show.
we used to collaberate on certian projects.
in all honestly metal is low on my favorite list but i can handle it.

Boomerings is a cool place, BTW. Most of the girls go with a boyfriend or "en bola", so picking one up is difficult. However, it has a nice ambience and they play good music. I have sat in there for 12 hours before on a saturday when I lived in Playas, and then walked (or staggered) the 2 miles home to my house.

Fair question, very simple answer; those HOT young educated upperclass chicas are NOT interested in dating some poor middle aged gringo (a mans got to know his limitations)..I agree, they're everywhere, and so are their youthful latin male counterparts.
My wife grew up dirt poor and could seldom afford to attend school, however she IS very ambitious, smart (street wise), has a great sense of humor, very down to earth, attractive and devoted, not to mention 23 years younger then me. Plus she could care less how much money I may or may not make. Over the years I've dated many beautiful latinas and their degree of wealth and education had little bearing on the success or failure of the relationship.

BTW, I can't stand that norteña shit either, unfortunately my wife insists on listening to it constantly and at full fucking volume..THAT I could do without.

I'll start visiting this more often. I do confess that this is my first time viewing it, but I'll be back for more, I promise.
I'm gainfully single and would be interested in tips on how to meet mexican women. The language barrier, it would seem, would be a huge detractor though, but I find myself very attracted to these women.
Hopefully we can hang at Pulgies soon and I can see you more in action.

Hey Milky,
How's it going Sr. Hombre de Leche? Long time no habla.
Speaking of Norteno music...personally I like all the different styles: Banda, Norteno, Cumbia, Rock en espanol, Ranchera, etc.
There is this one Norteno song I have been trying to figure out what it is called or who plays it. My former novia said it was about a guy singing about his best friend and a woman that both of them loved and he couldn't be with her and wanted his friend to take care of her. It contains the chorus "Eso me amigo, eso la mata" They play it on the radio and I have heard it at AB.
Maybe one of these days I'll make it down again. It's been over 2 months. I had to drive to San Diego the other day and I called one of my buddies and told him how I turned around at I-8. He said I must be cured.
Take care buddy.
By Blazers on Friday, December 07, 2001 - 06:06 am: Edit
Norteno is Polka music....the only difference is the cowboy hats and colorful clothes. Seems as though a local from Sinaloa went to Wisconsin to work and came back to play music with his friends only this time he brought an accordian. "Hey muchachos, i realize that none of you can play your instruments wortha shit but maybe if we incorporate this squeeze box and write lyrics about drug dealing, we can start a fad." Just a theory.

Mexico(especially northern Mexico) had a flood of German immigrants in the first part of last century. That's where the music comes from.
By Cardinal on Saturday, December 08, 2001 - 08:22 am: Edit
Yes, I've always noticed that Norteno music was very similar to German folk music. It's also similar to much of the local Cajun music too! All from similar european roots.
If I close my eyes and don't listen to the words, I can imagine that I'm sitting in my favorite local pub in Germany! Until I pick up my beer and have a taste, that is.

Chargers;
I heard they also had a flood of immigrants in 1945, as well.
Anyway, this is the reason why the Mexican beer is top quality... all those German brewmasters.

Diego You are right, and most of them settled in or around Monterrey, which is why must of the beer industry is centered. Same thing happened in Brazil, and it improved their beer industry too.

Hi guys
Heres a good place to take your chica friend.
There are tons of cds here for cheap , lots of clothes , and shoes that have the cheapest prices of all TJ as I am told.
I have gone with my girl there twice and I cannot believe the prices in this place.
They have electronics , wedding gowns outfits decorations , appliances , toys , knick nacks etc...
For TJ prices you can't beat this place.
I bought my chica a thin jacket with a fur type hood for 35 bucks !!!!
We saw the same thing at Plaza Rio for 80 bucks !!!
Instead of spending 18 to 20 dollars a cd at plaza rio buy em here for a third of that amount.
or buy her kid a videogame and earn brownie points !!
Buy anywhere else in TJ and you will feel the pain !!
This place is open saturday , sunday and monday and you can take a bus or collectivo for just 55 pesos all the way to LA Mesa.
Just look for a sign saying 5Y10 in the window !!!
When leaving the swapmeet go to the mainstreet and you will see the collectivos for Centro ( Rev ave ) again 55 pesos.
Parking is very tight here as with all TJ.
My heart has been broken 40 times just in the 2 times I have been here.
I saw lots of zona chicas here shopping too.
This is a very safe area and you will love it.
They have tons of stores and little sections that have everything you will need to satisfy your amiga without denting your wallet.
You will be saving a lot of money compared to shopping in other plazas or on Constitution.
you can send the difference to me ! - lol
One quick note - they do not bargain here.
whats on the tag is what you pay
They are not in the business of ripping off tourists like rev ave as there are not tourists here !!
Good luck

The Milkyway
system Part 1
Remember men have died trying to obtain this valuable information !
Best way to meet a real chica # 1 - Friends referral.
Here is one that is the best way to meet a real chica and it will take some time on your part. The closer you live to TJ the better for this to work. Find an establishment that is non-whoreish - no massage parlors , no stripclubs
etc..
This place should be ran by chicas or has the most women working there and should cater to a lot of women such as a shoe store , Beauty parlor , clothing store and frequent that establishment as much as possible become a good customer. Be on a first name basis with this girls, make them laugh , get into a little conversation every time you hit their store.
I personally think a beauty parlor is the number 1 place to hit ! For several reasons there is a high chica volume constantly going in and out of this place and the girls tell these hairstylists everything going on in their lives.
When a chica spends 30 mins to 1 hr with them twice a month or even weekly they will get to know them very good.
Girls always have friends that are in a need for a novio!
Find a chica that can speak english and that will help you out. Get to know her for a while then in a natural conversation she will ask for about your girlfriend or wife. In a nonchalant way just tell her you broke up with your ex-girlfriend and are looking for a new chica.
Spend some time in certain plazas , shopping at Constitution and you will run into areas run just by women. Do not be timid that you are a whitey , they enjoy conversation with gringos it helps them brush up on their english skills.
I always have a good time trying to communicate with these local chicas and they end up smiling and having a good laugh or two when I purposely mispronounce words and they enjoy correcting me and that is how a friendship starts.
Introduce yourself "Hi I am Joe Whitey , Mucho Gusto " and leave with a handshake and you know you are in like Flynn when next time you see her she comes up and kisses you on the cheek , you are now her friend and thus starts the dominos!
After a few more visits start your sale , you need to sell them on yourself, always talk to her in a smile , never be a gloomy glug. She would be glad to set you up with one of her friends. On a weekly basis I get asked if I have a girlfriend because a chica wants me to meet her friend , sister etc...
This is a great way to meet a chica and to start a south of the border relationship.
Thanks to all that read my postings

Hey Milk$,
So let me get this straight.....
At this swapmeet in La Mesa (where you get killed)they don't negotiate price.
At the regular businesses in TJ they do.
verdad?
By Milkman on Wednesday, December 12, 2001 - 12:55 pm: Edit
get killed ?
clarify that for me.
no negotiating prices like the whitey section of tj - rev ave and the border
you go to a vendor on rev and they tell you a knife cost 20 dollars and by the time you say forget it they come down 6 more times to 50 cents
locals dont put up with that shit
again we are not talking about tune ups on cars but household items with no haggling
so thats what i mean.
take care

monstruo de la leche,
Explorer told us that everybody that goes to La Mesa get's killed. I think it even happened to him 5 or 6 times so it must be true.
I believe you on the pricing...just thought it was kinda bizarro world...swapmeets generally are haggle city no matter where you are.
The only drawback to the Rev guys reducing the price of a knife when you walk away is they throw it at you!

HAH! C'mon Explorer...you gave us one of the best running jokes any of these boards had in a long time.
I believe your exact warning was that La Mesa had the highest murder rate in the whole Alpha Quadrant and if you couldn't speak fluent Klingon you would get killed for sure.
Wasn't that it?

Milkman knows what he's talking about. Explorer, you better keep exploring on your own so you can know first hand what you find out. Then you can earn your handle. My recommendation is that the rest of you mongers not pay attention to anyone who says "he heard that ...." Why don't you just ask a straight question? I'm sure that someone will really try to educate you about TJ. It's not nearly as frightening as some of you think it is, unless you invite an opportunity to get ripped off or killed like being drunk on your ass and being an ass.

I've been out there a couple of times... there's something about those places that gives me the creeps... kind of like Mexico City.
