For those of you in Singapore looking for a discreet place to do the wild thing, watch for this thread. I will add info as I get them. Those of you who HAS info, please share!
Oh yeah.. all currencies in Singapore Dollars!
Here's one great find:

pm, bros.
just checked out Pasir Panjang Inn this pm after lunchtime. situated around the corner after turning left from clementi road along NUS.
quite a secluded hotel, great for LTF and etc.......with a basement carpark. no one will know u r there screwing........
it is a "family" budget hotel, not so notorious as GL's.........
but rate is expensive = $40 for 2 hrs. basic facilities. i still prefer Fragrant of lor17 cheap and good.
anyway, if u r around western part of spore and need a place to screw, check out pasir panjang inn. another hotel is the harbour view but no short time ...........

Does anyone know if the Singapore Hilton is set up as to allow discreet entrances and exits with women of questionable integrity (or for guests of questionable integrity for that matter)?
I have many free nights with Hilton but wouldn't want to stay there if they frown upon my bringing guests to my room.
Any info is greatly appreciated.

EVERY SINGLE hotel in Singapore is Girl Friendly and does not require a girl to check her ID nor have joiner fees. I don't find myself in too many hotel lobbies after midnight, but when I do I always see John strolling on through with the LBFM (western guest) or their Lilly white karaoke queen (if it's an Asian guest.)
I know the Singapore Hilton has an attached shopping arcade which you can use to get to a set of elevators which bypasses the front desk. But I don't think if it is accessible late at night.

I stay at the marriot (orchid) and hilton and neither gets in my way of doing whatever I want.

p.s. MX, I'm arriving in SIN 12/16 around midnight, hitting the towers that night for a few drinks, and staying in town the 17th before leaving for PI. If your in town then and want to play host on your home turf, drop me a line. I'll be at the Hilton.

Does anyone know anything about the Chinatown, Marina Bay, or Quayside areas? Those are three alternatives to Orchard Road via Priceline. I'll more likely stay near Orchard, but more info is always better. Any pros/cons to staying in these other areas would be appreciated.

Hotel 81 Geyling was perfect for me. Very cheap. $29US a night. Small and basic rooms but clean, modern, and quiet. Best of all there are several of them dead center of the Geyling SG action. Like walk out the door and there are 200 hookers on the street. Sure it's not the Marriot but what more could a man ask?

Sancho
Nothing personal, but I'd be reluctant to take a hotel recommendation from someone who thinks the squalor and filth of a third world country is most of it's charm. I seem to remember you revelled in taking a shower in cold brown water dipped from a polluted bucket in Cambo. LOL

Yes-- I seem to recall that vidid shower description
Hell I got a couple extra nights in SIN next month-- I might just stay there so I can have a "sancho experience" LOL
thanks for the tip. honest.

The cold brown water was at a chicken ranch brothel. The $3 hotel in Koh Kong had more or less clear, running water and a wall mounted shower, although for hot water you had to get a $6 a night room. I believe that is the same trip I also stayed in the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit in Bangkok just to maintain balance in my life. What can I say, I have quirky taste.
I think all of the Hotels in Geyling are Hotel 81's. It's very confusing when you just came off of 36 hours en transit and then stayed out drinking heavily until the sun is rising in the morning. Every street has about two Hotel 81's on it and they all kind of look the same so it is hard to remember which Hotel 81 is your Hotel 81.
Web site is here. http://www.hotel81.com.sg/
My description is accurate. Realistically just a one and a half star hotel but cheap, clean, modern, well maintained, quiet, guests friendly and...........walk out the door and there are a few hundred hookers on the street.

For those of you looking for an ultra-chic, very contemporary hotel with hi-speed net access check out the M-Hotel. Do a google for M Hotel Singapore. It's pretty close to most of the action, in the CBD. If the taxi ride to the action is a financial strain on you, you shouldn't be in S'Pore IMHO.

Kinda like an upside down W Hotel. Thanks for the rec-- I love the W so I'm sure the M will suit me fine.

Dunno if W hotel and M hotel are related, M Hotel is a Millenium-Copthorne property. I love it. (They are also Priority Club members if I'm not mistaken)

Those of you who need more than the basic room probably would not like it, but the Hotel 81 chain suited me fine during my stay in Singapore. I believe these are easy to get rooms without a reservation, I got them fine during a busy time of year with no problem.
Nine of the 81 chain are located in Geylang. I stayed at the Princess on Lorong 12 and the Palace on Lorong 16.
I paid $59 SGD ($36 US) for a standard and $69 SGD ($42) for a deluxe at Princess. The Princess rooms were supposedly a bit nicer than the rest based on what I'd read. The deluxe was a little larger and included a wardrobe cabinet. Both rooms had a shower with tub. Princess also seemed to be the most centrally located in Geylang.
I paid $49 for a standard (only option) at Palace. The main benefit of Palace was that it was only one of two of the 81 chain that had a business center with internet access. This was basically just a single computer with dialup for $6 SGD per 30 minutes, but it functioned decently. The shower in the Palace rooms have no tub nor separate area, you shower directly on the floor.
If I stay in Geylang again, my order of preference will probably be Palace, then Princess, then Orchid. Orchid was closest to the Chinese street girls I was most attracted to.
There are many other less expensive hotels nearby with rates as low as $30 SGD ($18 US) and possibly lower.
Lorong 12 in Geylang is about the midpoint between the Kallang and Aljunied MRT stations. If you are on a lower numbered street, Kallang is closer. Higher numbered lorongs are closer to Aljunied.
The only thing I didn't like about staying in Geylang was the lack of fast, inexpensive internet access.
I'd like to try out the Hotel 81 Bencoolen, which is the other one of the chain that has internet access. Bencoolen is relatively close to Orchard Road, and may be a good alternative if the hotels on Orchard Hotel are full or over your budget.
I did spend two weekend nights at the Orchard Hotel at a discounted rate of $90 US through www.asia-hotels.com based on Mongerx's recommendation. I was unable to find anything close to that rate during the week when the hotels were mostly fully booked. It's probably easier when you're not running last minute, though.
Orchard Hotel is the closest hotel to Orchard Towers and the most convenient if you're pulling from there. Orchard Parade across the street is the next closest.
The best iCafe I found was located in the Far East Shopping Plaza next to the Hilton and a couple blocks away from Orchard Hotel.
Some photos of the hotels I visited, and much more, will be posted in my trip report: 2004/12 dArtagnan - Darting Through Singapore

Stayed at Hotel 12 on Lorong 12. The room sucked for 50SNG. I awoke with water running down from a hole in the ceiling, which soaked the floor.
I'll try Hotel 81 next time...

Any info on Sheraton or Le Meridien? Have Starwood Gold status, and figure I may as well exploit those. Am debating on whether to go with either of those or the Marriott on Orchard Road.
Figure it'd be best if I keep up appearances and stay at any of those w/o anyone raising eyebrows unnecessarily.
By Don Marco on Tuesday, November 29, 2005 - 04:46 am: Edit |
there's no problem hobbying at any of the above, just be discreet and use common sense. With Starwood gold, there ain't much to exploit cept rack up some points-- same with marriot. However, your paying a decent premium to stay here vs. geylang budget accomidations. Both hotels as quite nice as is the Hilton across from orchard towers.

Thanks DM. I don't know that I'd have any problems staying at a Geylang budget hotel if I were traveling solely for pleasure. I'm just making two assumptions based on the fact that I am in town on biz: 1) S'pore is a small town, and the folks I am visiting on business will likely raise eyebrows at the location of my accomodations; and 2) I'm flying out on someone else's nickel, so it would be better to maintain a "low profile" by picking more familiar accomodations.
We'll see.
By Mongerx on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 - 06:23 am: Edit |
If you are in town for business definately don't stay in Geylang as that will raise the eyebrows for your local business hosts. Singapore is real easy to get around in and taxis are reasonable.
Recently I had an out of town visitor who stayed at a suite in the M Hotel on Sheldon Way (main financial district street) and he had an amazing pimped out Suite with a great well stocked and maintained executive floor. I think this room cost him less than $180 a night.

Stayed at Santa Grand Hotel Aljunied last night. On edge of red light district in Geylang. website is www.santa.com.sg and look for Aljunied hotel.
$60 Singapore for a night. rooms are small but nice and complementary wireless internet is fast.
Hotel really has no services like cafe or anything, but 7/11 and cafes are around corner to left from hotel.
Security is good with RFID chip card needed to open room door. Not a transit hotel, but no problem bringing women to room
