Well the rumor is true. The new government is dead set on attempting to slow down and eventually get rid of my favorite playground. Here is what has transpired this week from reliable sources.
Cats a-go-go- CLOSED INDEFINATELY
Dollhouse-Closure letter posted on door but hasn't been enforced yet.
Frozen-a-go-go- CLOSED INDEFINATELY
Lipstick a-go-go- CLOSED INDEFINATELY
Soi 6 short time bars- Some have closed and other are on close alert by police.

In addition, there is a much larger police presence in Pattaya now and Purachai has not even made his trip to Pattaya yet (end of January)\

What's interesting is that they have started to close mostly farang-owned business' first. It is debatable whether they will close bars owned by Thai mafia as many officials may be targeted later. I would imagine that many of the incredible looking girls from Frozen will go to other go-go bars as that bar was full of stunners.

I will be there in a few days and will give you updates. Any mongers that are currently in Pattaya, please confirm these reports and give us mongers new updates. If the crackdown gets too heated, I will be contemplating a round trip ticket to Manila from Bangkok.

I have been scanning the Pattaya Lovers Board ... Noticed a post in the thread on closures you must be reading. It's from the owner of PussyCats. He is asking everyone to lay off the rumors cause it is hurting his business. Says he is open and never has recieved any notice from the police. LET,S HOPE SO BROTHER !!!

Blazers, you are right on Frozen, but there is a sign on the door that says will be reopen soon.

If Lipstick was closed, it is already open again. Lineup was mild, there was a lady there with beautiful face but ok body. I would have barfined her but she was too persistent on suggesting I buy additional drink that I didn't want. I was full, and already bought myself and her a drink.

I'm not into Soi 6 area, but saw many bars were open. Some may have been closed, didn't look too closely and not very familiar with it.

Stopped by Classroom 2000 on Soi 2 and it was hoppin.

That Cats has been open since at least Sunday. I peeked in, but didn't go in for a drink as the lineup didn't seem too impressive and I had already hit a bunch of other places.

The word on the street when I was there (First week of Jan) was that the police from Bangkok were coming down and making sweeps due to the fact that the Pattaya Police turn a blind eye. Frozen was open then and I know that the owners /manager there were worried so something might have been up before the enforcement. Also the old hot and cold is now just cold... no shows and some bars on Soi 6 are for sale (Rumor has it that the ones with rooms upstairs and not Thai owned will be squeezed. Don't expect too many changes though overall, the first walk through the gov officials made said that things overall look very propper. I will try to find the article from the Pattaya Mail that gives detail.

That's still about 1/4 of what I would have to pay in Seattle. There is a reason I have come to LOS and it ain't russian chicks (-: I have switched over to the Baht standard now and 3000 is A LOT of baht.

You're right about that! I didn't come here for the white bitches either, but they looked tempting... the only natural blondes on Walking Street! Too bad they all have bad attitudes. Haven't priced Seattle... hell, I wouldn't even know where to look.

The crackdown has eased up a bit. Check out Happy-a-Go-Go or Super Baby-a-Go-Go and you will see goodlooking topless dancers and naked lesbian shows. Happy has 30 baht drinks at Happy Hour from 7:30 to 9:00. Peppermint also on Walking Street has vastly improved and is now crowded. Two stages there, one topless and one bikini, plus topless girls serving drinks at the bar near the entrance.

I read in the bangkok post and the nation newspapers that the deputy interior minister is going to stop all actions in all clubs that farangs hang out, they will start getting heat from the police immeidately. It is supposed to go on for 3 months and they have stated that they want all punters to go home and those that are coming to stay away. I guess that an effort is underway to get rid of all bars, niteclubs, gogo bars and other places that are frequented by farangs or owned by farangs and as mentioned those that cater to farangs. Further news on this matter needs to be looked into.

I know that this sounds paroniod, but nothing has changed in pattaya as I went back to the states and came back on l/11/03 and there is nothing that has changed. If one place is closed another is opened and I still have had a great time here. I was in bangkok and went to a small place between soi 5 and 7 and met the greatest girl in thailand. she was bueatiful and would do anything as long as it was safe. She had a great attitude and I am still wondering how I met her with my dunken state at the time. Stop thinking negative guys and think positive as I have and things will really work out for you. Any updates on this topic as of March 2004? I haven't been there yet and would hate to go and find that it has been converted to a convent.

I have been here 3 days and have not seen any difference from my trip in April/May 2003. If anything the shows in the go-go bars have been a bit wilder than they were last year.

Not sure what this means, but last night at Marine Disco at 2-05 AM the dj faded the song and the lights went on. I have never seen this disco close before 2-45. But then I walked down to Lucifer's disco and the place was still packed, serving drinks, cranking music and letting people in. TIT - this is Thailand.

Someone was probably just late with their payment.

NOTHING worse than to be in Marine disco when the lights go on. You see what most of the "girls" really look like !

I still have nightmares from the few times I was there with full lighting . Scary stuff indeed.

Crackdown now seems limited to closing go-go bars at 1 AM. Nudity and lesbian shows are much in evidence at Super Baby, Happy, Heaven Above, Carrousel, etc. The neon lights go out around 1 AM. The cops tell the doormen to cut off music around 1:20. You can stay and finish your drink, but the dancing usually stops.

I went to Walking street last nite......stopped by Living Dolls around 2300, barfined a repeat....then headed to Tony's Disco saround 0200 and the police showed up......all lights were turned on, music stopped, then everyone eventually departed after sitting around a while trying to figure out what was going on!

I talked to a few of the staff members, but everyone was clueless as to what was going on. From there, I headed to JP beer bar to shoot a few games of pool and check out the scene, as I didn't want to return to the hotel so soon. All the beer bars in the area had their music turned off. When I asked a few of the staff what was going on, they were clueless as while....and only indicated..."Police come".

Without getting too much info from anyone....I'm assuming they were enforcing a 0200 curfew.

I plan on hitting Mistys tonite and will try and talk to some of the veterans or Andy (owner) and see if they can shed some light on this!

Nevertheless....still havubg a ball in the land of Sin! :clap1 Currently in the Penthouse room at the Vault and they provide a computer w/high speed DSL right in the room.....so it's pretty convienent to keep in touch.

Priew, if that's the first time you saw the juice cut, that is either AMAZING or your usually in bed early. Happens to me nearly every night in LoS when going to afterhours places.

One thing I know is that Thai cops are an unpredictable lot. Those in Bangkok no less so than their Pattaya brethren. On Wednesday, my bar closed at 4am, when the last customers had had enough. No boys in brown were spotted anywhere in my plaza. On Thursday, a cop stormed in at, get this, 12:20 AM, told us to turn the music off and close the bar, shortly. It wasn't just me. He went into every bar in Queen's Park Plaza with this attitude, including bars that have been established much longer than mine. We closed on Thursday about an hour after his departure. My best guess is that tonight we'll be open as long as we want. You just never know. It's a very illogical enforcement scheme, but at present (and probably for the foreseeable future) it's a set-up that bars have little choice but to go along with.

I think it was Baron Bonk's e zine that said the Boys in Brown are getting bolder about squeezing bars now that Toxin is in deep shit and basically running for cover. They are shaking down the bars as a preamble to collecting more " private donations" for the right to stay open or allow a bit of flesh. He said there is a crackdown on nudity again in Pattaya as well -- Any observers to confirm or deny ?? According to Bonk , Nana Disco is now back to 2 AM closing and the cops have threatened 1 AM for all bars again . The rollercoaster in LOS continues.

However, I think it will be worth a little sacrifice now if it means no more xenophobic Thaksin in the future. That guy has been no good for the entertainment scene in Thailand.

The girls are hotter, perform better, are cheaper, and no attitude to boot. The venues you mentioned are a LoS phenomenia for the most part. It would be like asking if LoS has the booking joints and brothels of another country. As I said in my last report, Indo rules are far as sex goes. However, if one is looking for a tame, tourist centric venue than certainly LoS is hard to beat.

They (los and indo) are two very different experiences. It would be hard to proclaim one better than another, unless the conversation is limited to particular characteristics.

That's my 2 cents, I'm sure some of the other indo vets have thoughts of their own.

How many times have you been to indo and how many indo girls have you fucked? Hard to disagree legitimately without investing the time. On AVERAGE, I find girls more attractive in JKT. On AVERARGE, I don't think LoS girls are hot at all-- I hate to think how many sows I weed through to get to what I think is a hot girl. I've always felt that there are indeeed incredible looking girls in LoS, but it always involved a hunt. That's me.



Socrates-- ya I should specified LT/ST. LT at blok M/TCs is cheaper than LT in BKK and on par with pattaya for me, but less than beer bars (but then again I rarely, if ever, pull from beer bars). However, LoS/pattaya is much more lT geared.

IMHO, Indonesian well never be hot sex tourist destination (higher prices in BKK prostitution places that serve tourist seeking sex make it a sex tourist destination) for westerners for a couple of big reasons. 1) There is a language barrier 2) The sex industry is primarily organized to serve the locals' and biz travelers' market. That is why you see so much emphasis on on site S/T. Also, that is why things are not so in your face and navigating the hot spots is not trivial for a newbie 3) Indonesia suffers from the stigma of being the largest muslim country in the world. Even though Indo is rather secualr and does not operate under Islamic law nor is it a theocratic state.

So how does Indonesia compare to Thailand? Beautiful women everywhere? A visitors dream in terms of what it offers? Pulsating and varied nightlife? I can see your smearing through ignorance is still alive and well. Indonesian has a huge variety of venues although the offerings don't overlap too much with what is offered in Thailand. Jakarta (and the rest of Indo) offers some of the most impressive discos you will find anywhere. There are lots of Live music nightclubs, Gigantic entertainment centers that will offer a disco, music lounge, karaoke, and a fish tank and all the same premisis. Incredible posh and affordable health spas with lots of massage hotties. Then there are the Bar-Massage places - which is what I think you are calling the brothels - which offer a lively bar with tons of hot ladies who you can take upstairs for a nice "massage." There are huge modern shopping malls with tons of friendly cute girls who are open to meeting nice gentleman. Etc etc etc. Sorry Dave but your characterization of Indo's offering nothing more than brothels is way off.

Of course I couldn't be happier if all those non-sex tourist flying to BKK to bang Go Go girls in Angelwitch never show up in Indonesia.
