IMHO, the best value in Pattaya at the moment and will be staying here in May. A 3/4 star hotel with 1 star rates. Very close to Pattaya 2nd road and you can walk through the new mall to get to the street. Free in room wireless, flat screen tv and king size bed. They have a free tuk tuk if you are too lazy to walk to 2nd road.

Nice hotel but every time I swim in their pool I feel like I'm being used -- kind of like a pawn. Really strange but I cannot figure out where the feeling comes from.

The pool is shaped like a pawn.. I didn't get it either until I visited their website and saw the picture of the pool.

That explains it !!!
Damn Thanks Xen !!
Just a lil stoopid humor to try to fill the void created by being here in US.

I agree with Blazers and add that they have a decent fitness room, very nice restaurant and key card secure elevators. They also have specials on rates between May and October that are very cheap. A monthly rate of 13,900 Baht if you are willing to pay your own electric and get maid service reduced to twice a week or a weekly rate where you get one free night for every six paid nights with free breakfast for two each day, regular daily maid service and electric included at 999 Baht per night.
My next trip I'm there from early AM May 5 to early AM June 2. I have to pay for 29 nights and am just inside the 30 day visa. I took the monthly deal which comes to $435.00 for the month and my electric bill. If my electric is $65.00 more that's $500.00 for 29 days or $17.50 per day for a 3.5 star hotel in my book indeed a bargain.
Also because their pool is on the roof and they have the tallest building around their location, it gets sun all day and is warm. I'm used to Sandy Springs where the pool is in the shadow of their own building part of the day and the water is often cold.
I looked at Kuhn Mor's comment on ABC in Angeles City and thought that between the fact that I'm in Asia about forty percent of the time and that I'm a poor but humble semi-retired lawyer I can't afford $285.00 per night for that suite in ABC when I go to AC. If I spent $285.00 per night for hotel and I spend 150 nights a year in Asia my hotel bill would be $42,750.00 per year. For my income and budget that's impossible. I have to remember that my budget has to include the cost of mongering, drinking, four air trips to Asia, one or two South America tickets, and a half dozen midwest to southern California tickets. I have to balance quantity and quality for my trips.

Uh oh Gurock, looks like we will be there at the same time...should meet up for some beers some time. You will see that I am not such a prick in real life.

Wow, those are excellent rates especially in the off-season. Is it the one that sits directly behind that open-air mall that sits directly across from the end of the soi that Sandy Springs is on?

Gurock
I totally agree that ABC is waaay overpriced - at least the two penthouse suites. I cannot wait for the Lewis Grand to open ( sometime in April) . Looks like a great alternative to PB and supposed to have the best pool in AC . I'll ditch ABC like a worn out BG.

Gurock/Blazers, I have been a silent minority on Hombre for a few years now but have read your attachments with glee. I will be in Bangkok for some dental work and then plan on going to Pattaya(which i have never been to).I would love to catch up for a drink or two and get the lay of the land,so to speak. Would you mind if i email both when it gets closer to departure.

I just returned from a trip from Pattaya and stayed at this hotel. The rate was 1300BHT and I stayed two nights. The room was comfortable, very clean, with a king size bed, and a good value for the money. Right behind an open mall and easy walking distance to almost everything. Excellent free WIFI reception in my room. Free breakfast was included, but never utilized as I never woke-up before noon any day.

They have a big price reduction after April 15 to 999 Baht. They alo have a weekly special pay for six nights and seventh night free.

How far is this hotel from the 'action areas'. Near 'walking street'?
By Lovingmarvin on Thursday, May 08, 2008 - 04:08 pm: Edit |
Sure you can walk through the mall 24X7.... it is an open mall. Within 15-20 minute walking distance of 'walking street'. The hotel will seem a little out of the way the first time you see it, but the short cut through the mall will save you alot of time. A little strolling has never hurt anyone, and if you are tired, drunk, or late - just grab one a taxi or one of the open trucks that make the circle around the beach (stopping in front of the open mall)

Thanks for the info LM.. (cant type your whole name.. ha ha ha)
I usually stay in Soi 13... Whitehouse, AA (new one), or Dynasty.. this looks like a good place.
I'll check it out in July.
Thanks Again.

Gurock, sorry we could not hook up.My friend i travelled with got really crook on the Sunday night and we had to call an ambulance Monday morning.Just a bug in the gut,but it grounded him for a few days.Maybee next time.
This hotel we found to be extreemly clean and very curtious and friendly.Give the reception girls a big hug for us,the chirpy one now does the night shift i believe. We bought her some drinks and gave her a tip when we left. She will remember us,my mate has a large grey go-tee,she will certainly remember that. I would recomend this hotel to anyone,it is a fine establishment for the price we paid(995baht per night, with a free night tossed in)It was that good we even gave one of the security guys a litre of aged Bundaburg Rum on leaving.I hope he has;nt drunk it all yet,if he has he;ll be pissed for a month. He may of just sold it though, who knows.

How strict are they on teh joiner fee for a second girl? I read somewhere one guys did not have to pay, but the site says there is one?
By Loader on Sunday, May 11, 2008 - 05:33 am: Edit |
We brought back 4 girls one night, did not have to pay. Just make sure you use your in-room safe while they are taking a shower.

thanks I will be staying there next month, I might bring 2 back at some point.

Stayed here the last trip and they really worked with me during the airport shutdown. Asked me to move rooms but the second room was better so that was fine by me. Are even submitting all the paper work for my TAT per diem.
The staff is great from the front desk to the house keepers to the owner. With a couple real cutie working the front desk in the day (one that I thought was a knockout).
Because of the quality service and how helpful they were I will stay here on any future trips.
I do recommend asking for an even number room. Then you have a view into the woods not across to the mall. Girls are far less shy about having the curtains open on that side (I like natural light during the day).
By Tujunga on Monday, December 15, 2008 - 01:16 am: Edit |
I stayed here recently, and would not repeat.
First, it's a long and lonely walk along a deserted soi to the business area. Though the hotel provides a shuttle to and from Second Rd, you must call them to summon it. I tipped the driver B20 each way. A baht bus from Walking St to, say, Soi 13, costs B10, and the walk from there to any nearby hotel is lined with commerce and beer bars.
More importantly, the rooms are not well-insulated, and I had the misfortune of being assigned one in which I could hear every passage in the hall and every cough from the next room - also every conversation, tryst, television program...
I had been introduced socially to Kim, the American manager/partner? I'm not certain of this, but Kim asserted that he was in on the conception, construction and outfitting of the hotel, and presented himself as someone with a continuing interest in the property.
I approached Kim and explained that the lack of privacy presented not just annoyance but a serious problem for me, since I had to make phone calls to the US in the middle of the night and was concerned about disturbing my neighbors. He mumbled something about this being unavoidable with late bookings and thanked me for my feedback.
I arrived in Pattaya on the first day that the airport reopened for international flights, and had made my hotel reservation request 24 hours before, the earliest that I could be sure I would be able to get there. The hotel sent me an email confirmation.
I know that there were at least two vacant rooms across the hall during my entire stay, and, judging from low occupancy rates elsewhere in town, probably many more available on other floors. An easy and obvious solution was available, but my comfort was clearly not a priority.
I also mentioned to Kim that the desks were poorly conceived with drawers beneath them, making it impossible to sit at a desk, since there was only about 4 inches of clearance with the chairs provided. He brushed this off, saying that the desks were standard height in Thailand, and implied that his suppliers were to blame. Diligent management involved in the hotel from conception through construction would not have accepted such a shortcoming, and certainly would have corrected it over the course of 18 months.
The staff is fine, especially in the restaurant, and facilities are OK, but certainly not better than in dozens of other local hotels that care whether you enjoy your stay.

I have to agree with you. I stayed there in November and cut my stay short by a day. It's not a bad hotel, but in Pattaya you are spoilt for choice and there are better deals on offer. The free Tuk-Tuks rides to Soi 15 are also a bit of a waste and the drivers act like they are doing you a favour. I have to agree with Knockkneedman about the front desk girls though...

I had a reservation there for Xmas, but canceled it because I prefer staying in Soi LK Metro. I'm staying at the Pasadena; a new hotel next door to Lólita's.
When I canceled my reservation at Pattaya Bay, i mentioned that part of the reason was because friends had complained about the internet service. Here is the response I got...
"Thank you for your email. I am very surprised by your friend's comments. To my knowledge, we have had no internet problems and our system is 100% reliable. To guarantee this, we have two separate high speed internet lines coming into our hotel from two different providers, we have two Wifi systems and we have high end dedicated PCs in all lobby, all free for guest use. I do not think you will find very many other hotels in Pattaya that have a redundant system such as ours. About four months ago our ISP changed our IP address without telling us and it took a few days to identify and sort out the problem. That is why we put in the second line. Other then that our system has been fully operational as you can see from our timely replies to your emails.
FYI - we just finished our first full year of a low and high season with 92.5% occupancy, one of the highest levels in Pattaya and today over 50% of our in-house guests have stayed with us before. We are fully booked through mid-February.
We appreciate you taking to the time to pass on the infomration and we hope you have an enjoyable holiday in Pattaya.
Sincerely,
Boem"

I used to just be a pimp for this hotel, but as with all things they seem to spoil a little over time. I just finished with an unfortunate episode involving my camera and the staff of the pool retaurant, where I'm sure some levels of theivery were involved.
In the long run it is a great bargain in the low season with the 999 Baht rate and seventh day free or the monthly rate of 14k Baht. In the high season I have doubts it's worth 1.399 Baht.

You are right about the internet the internet service in the rooms was inconsistent at best. I was forced to use the computers down stairs. In all fairness the computers where free and reasonably fast. The first page of printing was also free.

sounds like this place is done. staying at whitehouse, dynasty or sandy springs seems like a better option. even if you do have to pay a little more.
By Buffer on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 - 06:52 pm: Edit |
I would avoid the Whitehouse. They always require a deposit to make a reservation no matter what time you expect to arrive. This policy recently caused me a problem.
My flight into BKK was recently canceled due to the mess at the airport. I waited several days for the airport to open and when it didn't, I finally gave up on going to Thailand. I changed my plans and went into mainland China via Hong Kong instead.
I gave them over 10 days notice that I would not be in Pattaya since I could not get into Thailand to start my trip. I told them that I was forced to change my plans. They refused to refund my deposit. They want to apply it to a future trip. I have no idea when and if I will return to Thailand again. If the political situation remains unstable it will most likely be a long time before I return.
I have been staying in this hotel for 2 years and they treated me this way. I will probably seek resolution through the credit card company. If I return, I'll be looking for a new place to stay. Fortunately, in Pattaya there are many good places to stay.

This thread seems to have gotten a bit dated. Anyone stayed here lately? I haven't for a while but am thinking I may again in a trip I am arranging last minute leaving Friday. I still think the 999 + every 7th night free off season is a great rate.
By Baddog on Monday, July 12, 2010 - 11:42 am: Edit |
Stayed here for 2 weeks in June 1010. 999B a night, 7th night free. Breakfast for 2 included. Great staff, had stayed here before, wish they would have invested in thicker walls. Really like no soundproofing whatsoever. If you are a heavy sleeper, no issue, if not you will suffer. So as they say " ha sip ha sip "

I stayed at this hotel in 2008, very good hotel, very good staff. From the balcony opposite the bush side we noticed construction going on of a large building.
It turns out via my satalite phone it was a new hotel. Can anyone give an update on this hotel, along with the name.
We plan on going over again soon and might give it a crack.

Pattaya Bay Resort is mentioned in 2012/08 Paulyvegas - A Last Tale From Brave Ulysses
quote:Bad start here. The AC unit wasn’t working properly. Complained to the manager. She looked confused but I made it clear I wasn’t about to sweat out my nine-day vacation with substandard AC. I wanted kick ass, cold in five minute air! So what did they do? Brought in an engineer to empty the unit’s coolant and fill it with new liquid. Removed the filters and put in new ones. Not to mention the two extras pillows for my bad back; or the fan they found to help me with my stuff up breathing; or the free breakfast and pool; or that it’s walking distance from Walking Street, or that it’s just $33 per day. Great joint!
quote:Big room, quiet, nice staff. Fantastic location, walking distance to Walking street and steps from the mall and shopping mart. Starbucks if you like that, Motobike stand 10 paces away. Stay 7 nights, 8th day free. Internet and pool, free breakfast, about $48 a night.
Recommended.
