On my next trip out I have elected to try the Irazu based on good reports from TightFit and TampaGringo. This is a BW that is a few miles outside of San Jose toward the International Airport. I was able to get a "Manager's Special" for $60 a night.
I am only going to be in CR for 4 days and wanted to get away from the noise of El Centro. This place is supposed to be more laid back, they have a pool, no chica problems. Thought I would try something different. I'll post a report.

I stayed there as well, it's a nice place but a long ways from the action. I unfortunatly couldn't bring a Tica back there due to travel circumstances but I saw many girls from the BM there with guys (at the Denny's) yep there is a Denny's there so breakfast is served 24 hours a day. Though I prefer a traditional CR breakfast pass the Salsa Lizano my frijoles are getting cold...

There is a chica fee. I have stayed a few times but it is definitely family based.
