I've been to San Jose, Costa Rica twice (April 2002 & August 2002) and I am on my way back there for a third trip in March 2003. The first trip was a learning experience. We stayed at the San Jose Barcelo Palacio. It is located about 10 minutes from downtown. (Taxi is $3 each way). It is probably one of the nicest hotels in San Jose- it has a swimming pool, full health club, tennis court and casino. However, they impose a "guest fee" of $35 each time you bring a girl to the room. I brought a columbian from the Del Rey back there for an all-nighter for $100 but once you include the extra charge it didn't come out to be the best deal around.
