Boy, for a hotel with as beautiful a building as it has, right in the cenetr of town, and with the beautiful spot to eat breakfast and people watch, this place really sucks!.

Last week, my plans for the Morazon fell through the night before I was due in San Jose. I called the Gran Hotel, and they booked a room for me for $35. Great, I think.

Well, I get there, the room is tiny, there is NO AIR CONDITIONING anywhere in the building (overhead fan), and the bathroom doesn't have any pressure.

We go downstairs to change, they upsell me to a $50 superior room. It was a little bigger and had a coffeemaker, but NO FAN EVEN. So, the third room has a squeaky fan and a working toilet/shower. I take it for the night, and hightail it out of there the next day to the Balmoral.

Oh, and the bed and pillows really sucked, and the casino shorted me on a slot machine. I hit for 200 coins, put them in a bucket and cashed out, the girl told me there was only 198.

If I didn't make my point, I wasn't happy with the hotel.

Be advised this hotel is NOT chica friendly, no way no how. but, a great place for morning coffee on the patio looking out onto the hustle and bussle of the plaza. small news stand around the corner towords the main drag had the miami herald and a couple of other u.s. papers.

This hotel is now on skyauction. Has anyone stayed here recently?
