Centaurus is my least favorite of all the termas and in my opinion way overpriced, but had a couple of buddies in town who were hell bend on going there and convinced me to go as well. Since my plan was just to hang out, I paid only the entrance to get in - it was a steep R$120. The complete upfront entrance and session price is now a whopping R$400.

The ratio of girls to guys was quite large. Very few guys and most of the girls were fighting off boredom....and we were fighting them off after repeated requests for drinks, etc.

Well, my initial plan changed after some intense convincing by a beauty deep french kissing me for about 30 minutes - without any pressure to go the room or even asking for a drink! That is all I could take before wanting to explode - The session was outstanding to say the least.

In the end I stopped complaining (ok, maybe not entirely) about the high cost.

C's entrance fee is actually R120, not R400. R400 is entrance plus cabine with a girl. I was there on Friday just wanted to look around since I have not visited the place since July 07. Not being there for a year, I just wanted to look around, more for curiosidade than anything. I remember they always demand money upfront so I asked how much I owed. The manager at the desk ("the guy") said R400. I said "por favor, fala verdade?" He now said, R120 just for entrance, no drink, no girl. With a girl, entrance and girl is R400. I was curious to see an update of the place so I delivered R120. Once in, everything is the same like last year.
. The "fixed assets" like the furniture, sauna, bathroom is getting to be old and even more dirty. The girls look nice (but then so are all the other termas) and I even bumped into a three regulars who were alums of L'Uomo, Monte Carlo and 65. Centauraus, by my book is really no change, same high fees, same quality girls (with attitude as they thought they work at the best place in Rio now). I hanged around for about 2 hours, chitchat with some "old acquaintances" and checked out. All for R120. No harm. Wonder if I would head back to C in future?.

I was there yesterday in the late afternoon-early evening. I saw 3 girls i would consider top notch (subjective) with another 10 or so attractive..the rest were nothing special (plenty of solid talent).. Paying R400 w/ the $ rate is starting to make me think 2x and R120 to go thru the door is annoying. First day back in Rio so i will prob check out another terma today to compare and contrast.

Was there last night. It was good but not great. 5 different girls told me Quatra (Wed.) nightvis the best night there. In other words, if you want to splurge and treat yourself to Centaurus, go Wed.

A word about Centaurus pricing breakdown - girls get R$200 per program which is why the ratio of good looking women is so high.

Here is how the pricing works:

Ingresso: R$120

40 min programs:

Cabine: R$80
Garota R$200

I don't do 1 hour programs so I don't know what the cost is.

Updated hours Monday - Saturday 4PM till about 2 AM but after 1 AM there are only 10-15 un-programed stragglers. Closed on Sunday so if you go Saturday night you stand a good chance of getting a number and setting up an incall Sunday.

Some very solid talent they got this days, Michele short skinny loira, Tatiana still one of the favorita's, Mila is very good looking... but still missing Helena and Ariane's....saudades...!

This place is the gold standard. Not everybody can or wants to pay for it, however, you do get what you pay for. Ipanema/Arpoador convenience, nice facilities, and hands down the best overall talent.

Latin - Copa I totally agree with you guys. When I lived in Rio a few years back I was a regular at Centaurus a few days a week. Never had to pay the pre pay thing and was treated great by the staff and girls. Did not even session every time and did not have to pay, just for drinks, etc. I guess the bottom line is guys know it is more expensive that the other Termas but if they can't afford it or don't want to spend that kind of money they shouldn't go in the first place. I guess my thinking is why pay all the airfare, etc. and not spend a few extra dollars on the BEST. Don't know about now but they did have the hottest women! I'd agree to an extent. Latin had a great point. Costa Rica is ruined. Period. The demand far exceeds the supply and there are too many idiots here with a strip club mentality driving the price up. But if your going to fly around the world, why fuck an ugly girl to save $20-$30???

I agree that the total number of beauties at Centaurus takes your breath away. However, depending on the breaks you can find girls just as good looking at MC, Lumuo, 4x4, and 65. However at the other places you will be culling thru a lot more fat asses, plain faces, crowds of customers, and waiting for the girl you just missed to come out. But if you want, you can go the bargain route and find first class quality.

However it is crazy to let the higher cost keep you from seeing Centaurus. Far more important to me is that I only have limited chances to sneak away from work and limited bullits in my gun. The actual cost of the act comes further down in my priority list.

Disagree completely about Centaurus. This place has lacked the "gold" standard for awhile now. If you like a strong girl-guy ratio then this place is for you, but not that the quality is anywhere near like it used to be. When I talk to most of these girls that work there, they come from the same poor areas as the other putas as any other termas. Hell, there are at least a couple that used to work at 4x4 -- I didn't want to pay their sorry asses 160R, why the fuck would pay them 400R....did they dip their pussies in gold during that transition.

Let me tell you the kind of clientele Centaurus attracts on the night I visited:

1) 2 gringos walk into the bar with custom Polo robes on, white socks, and their own sandals. One of the dude was a good 300lbs and carrying around a little pink Victoria Secrets bag with him. 2 average looking garotas are them in a second and 10 seconds later a full round of vodka-red bulls show up. I couldn't bare the pathetic sorry-ases sitting in front of me, so I moved over to the bar area.

2) As I am checking out, one babbling drunk-off-his-ass gringo is attempting to find out why his bill includes 26 drinks. Yes, 26 drinks! His bill was 1200R+. Of that was 1 dupla session for 40 minutes...2 girls-1200R-40minutes, let me repeat 2girls-1200R-40mins. As the guy leaves and I go to pay the bill (I did not session), the stupid bitch receptionist had the nerve to say "why are all gringos so stupid?". I wasn't sure how to answer as I had 3 beers on my bill and 2 new numbers on my phone.

BTW, the entrance is not 120R. It is really 100R + 20R gringo/tourist/taxi tax added on.

Honestly, if guys want to believe they are getting better quality girls at this place then that is their delusional perception. The place has no energy to it. Girls are for the most part just fucking annoying with their "one drink for me and 2 girls for you" routines. Management could really not give a fuck about anything. The fact is Rio is NOT fucking Costa Rica. It is completely irrevelant. The metro area of Rio is probably 3 times the size the entire fucking country of CR. Girls fucking in CR aren't even Ticas, they are from other poorer country like Panama.

Guys go to Del Rey in CR, in Rio.....termas, apartments, agencies, clubs (Barbs), Help, VM, more apartments, semi-pros, ex-Termas girls, cafes (TA), independents, quasi-madames, bars (Shenagigans), internet agencies...and some guys even prefer favela bars too for women. And my favorite -- a garota who found some dumbass gringo who wants to marry her and will fuck just for kicks (and a little extra cash because she can't get the puta out of her). Brasil is obsessed with sex, you don't have to search hard or pay a lot to get it.

Now here is your lesson** for the stupid asses paying 400R for 40 minutes:

Slap your dick on the wall while saying "paying U.S. prices, doesn't get me ______better____ pussy in Rio because supply is not limited". Repeat 5,10, 100 times or until you fucking get it in your head.

Centaurus is basically the conspicuous consumption venue for Rio mongers.

First, Centaurus is for guys who equate looks to service. While looks are important, if the garota doesn't have a good attitude and provides good service (two separate things), then looks are unimportant to me.

Second, Centaurus is for guys who feel that if you pay more, the quality must be higher. Well, judging from my own past visits to Centaurus, plus having spoken to dozens and dozens for former Centaurus garotas who have moved on to termas that I do frequent, the garotas at Centaurus are of no higher quality than anywhere else. Yeah, you don't find a lot of big garotas in there, the place is 100% tourist driven so the garotas tend to be what I call "newbie Gringo style" - thin, white, small assess, that kind of thing. What most of us would define as hot when we're in college. But, I don't equate that with higher quality, just higher percentages of garotas that fit a certain profile. If that is your profile of what you want in a garota, then you'll think Centaurus is better since there aren't any big garotas, muscular girls, etc floating around.

Third, facilities - unless this place has undergone a massive renovation at some point in the last three years, I thought the facilities were substantially behind Monte Carlo, Luomo, 65 and Cancun. They're probably on-par with Solarium, of course 4x4 is a shithole from a facilities standpoint. But my point is, from the cabines to the showers to the saunas, I never saw where Centaurus had a leg up on anywhere else.

Four, ambiance - is there a worse place than Centaurus? Pushy garotas constantly chirping in their best puta English "you buy me drinky", the managers running around with the clipboards making sure the garotas are pushing hard, the constant/chronic bitching for tips - the whole place just really turned me off.

So, again, unless spending more money makes you feel better or somehow helps define your own self-worth, I will continue to give Centaurus a big thumbs down and avoid the place. No one is saying it's Centaurus or VM - there are thousands of places between these two venues to hit.

The point everyone is missing here is there are no absolutes in this hobby. I am sure guys have had outstanding sessions in Centaurus and then I'm sure there have been guys like CL describes.
You never know! A couple of the members above have been extremely critical of Help over the years but last week I met a very pretty black garota from Salvador. I had hours of some of the best all out animal brasilera sex and fun with her for R200. Also I met a favorite of mine at TA last year who is always a must see for a few days every trip. So if I listened to all the criticism of theses places I never would have met them. So the moral of the story is...YOU NEVER KNOW! Keep all options open.

...but in my opinion keep Centaurus as your last option! If you are a first time monger, I would suggest trying 4x4, Llumos, and Solarium. In that order. 'Help' is an entirely different ballgame - since this place really only gets going after the termas have closed. I really do not see how you can go wrong with 'Help' either. Even if you do not take anyone home, it is great nightclub with reasonable prices - the entrance is only R$25 before midnight and R$35 afterwards. Beers are cheap. Plus the girls stay (if you negotiate correctly) the entire night versus 40 to 60 minutes in a terma and come back to your hotel/apartment. If you don't take anybody home, you still had a great environment to hang-out, look at pretty girls, drink (relatively) cheap booze, all starting (entrance only) at $11 to $15USD

Do it all.... but Centaurus in my opinion is just not worth the extra money!

The plain fact is that girls rotate between the termas. Some Centaurus girls have worked at 4x4 before, some Llumos girls worked at Monte Carlo, etc, etc. Facilities wise, I still think Cancun beats them all. Maybe the girl selection is not up to par with Centaurus, but at at R$30 entrance (friday) that includes 6 beers and live entertainment I do not see how you can go wrong. That is $12.50 USD at the average conversion fee - how can you possibly go wrong? There other special promotions, such as an entrance fee for R$40 that is all consumption. Compare that to R$120 entrance at Centaurus that includes nothing!!!

I have had the same experiences as Catocony - too much pressure. Also requests to upgrade to suites, two girls, aye.... frustrating!

But to each their own....If Centaurus makes you happy and you got the cash, by all means go for it!

Cancun's cabines are by far the best in Rio. Of course it's three years old, so who knows what it will look like in 10 years, but for now, they are by far the nicest. CL is dead wrong. Entry is R120, if you look on Brazillian boards, you'll find the same thing.

The same guys keep ripping Centaurus...pointing out that you can find women as good looking in other T's wich is absolutely true-just not as many. You also get asked for tips and have pushy girls but this is just the same at all the T's. At the same time, the same guys who rip C will trip over a dollar to pick up a penny. And if you can't speak Portuguese really well (forget Pimsleur - I'm talking language school where they teach you the difference between "I walked" and "I was walking" and "I was going to walk") your opinions are probably not real valid because you won't realize there is a differnce when talking to a C girl and a 4X4 girl. Part of the ambiance of C is hanging out amongst all the women and bullshitting with them - which most people on this board can't really do unless you think 3 year old speak is bullshitting.

Something happened to me at C Monday night that was impressive - I was sessioned out, just sitting with a buddy drinking and bullshitting at about 1:45 AM and we were the last clients in the place. Both of these assessments are spot on. I have seen talent in all the termas mentioned in this thread within a 24hr period of each other, walked out of one only to have it the choice the following day, etc. Bottom line, NO ABSOLUTES

Centaurus; always high end girls and talent but I don't care for the pushy garotas and the fact it IS a pressured place. As for the two losers in Polo robes you find they are not limited to Centaurus. If you are fluent in Portuguese and converse with the girls at Centaurus you know what they might talk to you about - their experiences at other termas. So if you believe that Centaurus girls are unique and the same can't be found at other termas, then you probably have to work on your Portuguese.

Copa, I apologize for mocking your buddy's Polo robe and white socks. But, I am not sure what speaking Portuguese has to do with evaluating a termas. I've gone to Rio for several years and was just recently in Centaurus this month. So I've gone to termas enough to recognize girls that have worked at other venues and they all pretty much come from the poorer suburbs of Rio. It is a misconception that because it costs more, it must have the best girls and best service.

It is not really all about the cost, even if at the same price I would still have a negative opinion of the place. I think it is "Shy-Guy's" termas. I mean fuck I am a man and when I go to a whore house I am fully entitled to sit with my beer, look and choose my own fucking garota. No direct eye-contact means I am not interested and works perfectly well at all the other termas, bars, clubs, etc. BUT for some reason at Centaurus, girls border on harrassment. For the shy, low self-esteem, and/or ugly guys, I think they need that "boost" to make them feel wanted.

It is unfortunate that Centaurus has created such a shitty environment to even want to go there to hang out. Because, I usually only stay a few walking blocks from there and could be there in literally 5 minutes. Forget the entrance fee is twice as much, I would still pay it if they wouldn't train the girls to be such annoying pests. I can go to a place like 4x4 and spend the evening and usually have a really good time. But, I really can't tolerate much more than 1-2 hours at C.

Anyway, for any new members you shouldn't make Centaurus for a first choice option when visiting Rio. Places like Luomo, 4x4 and Cancun provide a more relaxing and enjoyable setting with equally attractive garotas for 1/2 the cost.
Then again, you could take the approach you are just going to there to get numbers. Girls don't really like that at all, but fuck who cares. The guys who want to put these girls on pedestals because they are C-girls overlook they are just putas who fuck for money.

What I do know for sure (and I am restating), and do not let anyone convince you otherwise, many of the girls do rotate between termas. I am not saying all, but many! The only thing that Centaurus has going for it is the higher ratio of girls to guys. and why is that? Well, because of how high priced they are.

Since most of us don't have money growing on trees in the backyard, a normal monger does have some type of budget. Centaurus just makes you use up that budget so much quicker without much additional benefit.

This board is here to provide advice and share our experiences. No need to attack anyone - a newbie should read the advice and base their plans on this. The majority reports on one particular place says it all.

I was going to write a trip report, but I might as well write it here because my tale ends at Centaurus.

It was Thursday December 11th, and rather than work like I usually do, I decided to go downtown get my hair cut and check out some of the lesser expensive action in Rio. In particular, I wanted to try out Flavia Massagem and Bel Prazer. There are two things that I definitely like about these places. First, both have web sites, with pictures of all the girls. Although you cannot see their faces, you can get a pretty good idea about their body type. Secondly, these places are actively reviewed on the Brazilian boards, gpguia and hotforum. Overall, the reviews on the Brazilian boards were more than satisfactory and some of the pictures on the web site were definitely hot.

They are both located on the same block, and I decided to visit Bel Prazer first. It is on top of a large building, and the entrance is very nondescript. You ring a bell, and an receptionist lets you in to a small waiting room. I would put it at the size of the entry room when you enter Luomo. There are a few small chairs and a desk where the receptionist sits. The receptionist rings a bell, and then each girl comes out individually, says their name, gives you a peck on the cheek and then leaves. There were definitely some attractive girls, but your interface time with each one was about 10 - 15 seconds. Also, the girls were dressed mainly in tight fitting dresses but the presentation is nothing like you see in a terma. Of course, the prices at these places are significantly less than the termas. I believe the costs range from R$70-100 for 30-60 minutes with the girl. I did not look at the rooms, because I decided to leave, but there are pictures on their web site.

I decided to leave because I don't like making my decision that quickly. So off I went to Flavia Massagem. A lot was similar. On top of another large building, and another very nondescript door. Ring the bell, but Flavia is slammed. As soon as I get there, they inform me that all of the rooms are full, and there are two guys waiting for rooms sitting quietly with their selections. Note: this room is tiny. I would put the room as the size of a 40 minute cabin at Luomo. There was a tiny desk with a computer, a television, and a set of 3 chairs. There must have been 13 people in this little area. There was the receptionist, the two couples, about 8 girls and me. The girls just chattered and watched TV, and many of the other girls walked in and out as they finished or prepared for their sessions. It was cramped and chaotic. I had brought an agua de coco with me, but after I drank it, I left.

It was a beautiful day, so I decided to walk to 65. I checked in, and checked out the scene. It was a night and day difference. There was no one there, and quite a few girls. I stayed for a while, but I decided to leave because I was dying to check out 4x4. I paid my entrance and I walked the two blocks to the Super Walmart of termas. I checked in and say oi to Sylvia, put on the robe and go into the boite. It was slammed. I had forgotten at 6 pm on a Thursday how slammed it got. I couldn't move, and I saw some great girls but it would taken an extreme act of endurance just to get to the other side to talk to them. I really like 4x4, but that was not what I was looking for. Perhaps, if I had a wing man, I might have stayed for a beer, but I left.

Now I am in the taxi thinking what should I do? My first thought is Solarium. In the past couple months, I would have to say the talent was consistently strong at Solarium. But then I remember, it's Thursday. Thursday, at Solarium, is usually slammed because a lot of the younger Brazilians that chat on the boards come for a visit. Most of them don't session, but the place gets packed like 4x4. Plus, I don't like Solarium's cabins. Of all the termas, I think Solarium is the worst because they are so small, and there is only upgrade option and it is usually full. I'm not a big guy, but somehow I feel cramped in the Solarium cabins.

Then I decided to go to Centaurus. Straight up, Centaurus is my favorite terma, particularly when I am alone. Many of my friends choose to avoid Centaurus due to the price and we end up going to other places. I find it strange that the topic of Centaurus gets so heated at times. When I discuss it with my friends, it is never so. If they prefer to go to a different terma, I just go with it. I certainly don't make any value judgments on them as a person, and it certainly is not a reflection on their ability to speak Portuguese. Not coincidentally, my friends grant me the same considerations.

Here's why I like Centaurus. Centaurus is a big place. It is, in fact, the second largest terma behind 4x4. Usually, there are somewhere between 80-100 girls, which is probably at least twice the size of Luomo. Secondly, the rooms are much bigger. All of their rooms (with one exception) have a double bed, and a sink. Their suites also have a shower. I also like the fact that the there are no phones in the rooms. So if you are with a girl and she is not keeping track of time, and it is not busy, you can spend hours in a room on a 40 minute charge.

I arrived at Centaurus about 7 pm, and it was packed by Centaurus terms. There was still pretty of room to sit, but there was a wait for the rooms. I had chosen Larissa, and I didn't feel like waiting. I went down to talk to a few of the guys at reception, and they gave us a room. It was a good session, but to be honest, I wanted more. There were tons and tons of beautiful girls at Centaurus that day, and I wanted to try a few new ones since I had done Larissa before.

I asked the house mom for a girl with a specific description and I went to get a beer. When I had sat down, she came back with Natalia. She was a beauty in every sense of the word. Pretty face, long curly hair, long legs, and a nice rack. But more importantly, she was a GFE. I have had lots of GFE in my time, and this was perhaps the best GFE I have ever had. There was a wait again, and I got it waived, and we went up. The time flew. I know that we were in there at least an hour, but someone was banging on the door. I wanted to double up, but they said we had to go back down. I did, and got the wait waived, and we ordered some food and went back up. It was great. I spent R$1000 that night at Centaurus and it was worth every centavo.

There were lots of people at Centaurus that night, and to be honest, I find it difficult to make generalizations. There were young guys, and old guys. Some Americans but a lot more Brazilians. The only thing that they all seemed to have in common was everyone was having a good time enjoying the beauty of some of the finest women in Rio de Janeiro.

Now that was a productive and constructive expression on ones personal preferences. We all have our own opinion and different likes.... nothing is wrong. All we can do is share our own opinions. To each their own - there is no right or wrong!

I thought they named a cabine at Centaurus in honor of BluesTraveler, but I could be wrong on that

Anyways, if anyone is going to be treated well by the staff there, it should be BT, I think he's been there more times and spent more money there over the years than everyone else on this board combined.

CL - I never said C had the best service...just the best looking girls. The management has been very good lately, perhaps they are reading the board. Making 7 garotas wait until I was ready to leave (they know that I usually have a Bluestraveller type tab) was cool. Polo robe/Victoria's Secret Bag guys are going to get ripped off everywhere they go.

They do not allow funny business there...yes they push their girls to work, I also know a girl they fired because she kept showing up late.

In any event, bottom line is that if you want the best looking women overall, C is the best place. You can find many stunners expensive and cheap everywhere. That being said, C is a great place for a first time experience or a good T experience on your first trip to Rio, you just need to remember it is expensive, especially considering that (as BT points out) there will be more women there that you want to fuck than you may have budgeted for (from both a $$ and bullet standpoint).

Expensive...yes. Best looking women...yes. Should people be discouraged from going there...Not unless they don't have the budget for it.
