Copabrasil: Well put! Can you update us on the 'non-gringo' pricing so that a newbie won't be ripped off? Since I assume prepaying for the entrance + program is not cheaper, how can one convince the management to pay for just the entrance (minimum consumption?) and then decide later on whether to have a program or not?

As far as 'no funny business', can you still successfully get a GDP's mobile number?

All you can do is tell them - in Portuguese - that you won't pay up front, and that you didn't take a taxi there (make sure if you did, to get dropped off a block or so away and make sure the taxi driver drives away). It's 100% their discretion, on your first time there, unless you're with someone who frequents the place, you'll probably have to pay up front. I've never heard of anyone just paying entry up front, it usually all upfront or after.

Copa, you seem to keep implying that we don't like the place just because it's more expensive compared to elsewhere. Do you think that we're all poor or something? Would you understand it if I said that if Centaurus were to lower their prices 50% and thus become the cheapest of the majors, I still wouldn't go there due to the shitty atmosphere and the double-standard they have for non-brasileros?

The times I went there, I only paid the entrance fee upfront. I am not going to argue the point, but it is 120R (which I believe 20R is a gringo tax).
If you want to do a program, you have to come back downstairs to pay(the remaining 280R) for the program before you take the girl to the room. If you are well-paying customer like Copa and BT I am sure you could probably pay everything afterwards.
My personal opinion is that if guys like Copa/BT are dropping 1000R+ a night in a termas, then that is certainly not the norm (nor necessary) amongst Rio regulars. Personally, I could have an awesome night of entertainment with a legit model-quality garota in a quality love motel suite for a tab like that.
To each, their own. But money like that deserves top-shelf quality AND service and the Termas C has not had either in years. I am simply not paying 400R for 40 minutes wih the same puta from a poor outskirts suburb like Nova Iguacu. It is just crazy (and completely wasteful) when you think about it (with your brain).

Here's how to get them to treat you like a Brazilian. Tell them each and every time you go, that you want the Brazilian treatment which consists of:

1. No Gringo Tax
2. Don't pay up front for anything
3. You only pay entrance if you don't session
4. You pay when you leave not before you session.

Each time when leaving give the guys at the front desk a tip (R$5-10) and learn their names. I think it was after 4 times, that they dropped it all for me. The key was to be persistent and to be nice.

Now, also, many others have had the tax dropped once they started coming with me and later by themselves. When I show up with anyone, no one pays the gringo tax, for sure.

If you like thin blonds, and fair skinned women in general, then Centaurus is the best place to find them.

I have no problem getting numbers there. Before they changed the pricing I had a girl I saw outside the termas for free. I would go there just to hang with her and throw some dollars her way.

When I would enter they would tell me to pay when I was ready to leave.

The last time I went, about a month ago, the same guy at reception insisted I pay R$120 upfront. They were not that busy and I noticed the manager was making an extra effort to have the girls work me since I had not paid everything upfront.

I think by far it does have the largest number of good looking girls. However, other than the live music at 10:00, the club itself leaves a lot to be desired. Showers are not that great, the drinks are mediocre and the girls are constantly pushing themselves on you.

Money really is not the issue. I go to a termas to relax, not to feel like I just entered a used car lot.

I'm not accusing you of anything, I'm asking a question. You stated you're fucking her for free outside the termas, but then you go to Centaurus to pay to be with her. That's pretty strange, and not something you see much of in Rio. Guys paying at night and at the termas? You see that, and personally I think it's bad business but it happens all the time. But what you wrote is kind of reverse-logic. How about just paying her R$200 at night, then you don't have to pay R$390-410+drinks at Centaurus, when all she'll get is R$200 and the rest is house overhead? Even better, you could be a really nice guy and split the difference with her and pay her R$250 or so for the outside program.

I don't have a grudge against you but you post some things on here that don't make much sense at first read, and whenever I or anyone asks a question you get massively defensive. Re-read what you posted, and the question becomes clear. "Getting it for free long time at night, but then goes to the most expensive termas and pays the overhead to do her short time". That's how it read to me. Did I misread it, or misconstrue what you meant somehow? That's why I asked my question.

Now, if someone else were to post that, don't you think you might think it's odd? As in, why pay at all if you're getting a freebie? Centaurus has attractive girls and a lot of them. It also has a pretty spacious boite. The price is high but not statospheric . I think its worth going to once per Rio trip. Its also very convenient if you prefer to stay in Ipanema. I wish they would remodel the dressing room though. What a cramped dump.

My 2 cents on C is that I have only been there a couple of times and didnt care for it. It had nothing to do with the price of ass, it was the pushy garotas. Quite simply -- I was wrong.

At the time I was basing my opinion on that of a competitor who was not very complimentary about Ken or Don. After observing Ken's dedication to his clients and talking with a number of them, I formed a different opinion which is why I recommend him and Don to others today.

Many thanks for the input on Centaurus. I have always given this place a miss if only for this policy of returning to the desk to pay for the session in advance. This would just spoil the session for me. I realize that these places are run like sex factories but you would think the management would have the sense not to kill the mood. Too much prowling by the pimp and the paying in advance kills it for me.

Man, you are spot-on with this fact. The place prides itself as being "classy". Yet, you have go take your garota through the men's locker room with other guys in their underwear to go pay upfront for your program. The only other termas that does this is a 100R divey, 2nd-tier termas out in Recreio named Ancora do Reis. They are accustomed to blue-collar brasilians so it is understandable, considering potential deadbeat non-payers....but Centarus, c'mon. Plus that garota you thought looked like a "10" has instantly dropped to a "7" after seeing she is good 5 years older and cellulite on her ass you did not see in the boite.

One time, I talked to some garota for about 1/2 hour and decided the chemistry just wasn't right. I decided to leave and in the changing room, she actually came in there while I was changing literally demanding I give her a tip for spending that 30 minutes with me. The "management" was watching this for what was a good 5 minutes as just by principal alone I wasn't going to give her fucking centavo. After she left, the robe-maid lady looked at me and asked me for a tip too. On my departure to settle the drink-tab, I jokingly said I suppose you want a tip too? The lady said, yes that would be nice. Fucking Centaurus, they have no fucking clue about "class" and just another shining example of an Americanized establishment in a foreign country -- shitty service with high prices.

Evening Gents,

I arrived at Centaurus at 5:30 and waited to session till 6:30pm. The place had roughly 30+ garotas to choose from. My last trip to Rio was in Aug '08. It was a little disappointing with so many familiar faces at Centaurus. Everyone has their own taste but mine was centered on 3 or so that i felt were must-haves but no stars. Are my standards rising? I am a fan of spinners and only saw a couple as i went back to the bar after the session. It was clearly early in the evening.. I'll try Solarium tomorrow and see how that is.

I walked into Centaurus recently after a long time, just to know what I may be missing if anything. The short answer -- nothing, unless you want obscene pricing with a bar atmosphere typical of an american strip club.
Entrance is 120R for gringos, 100R for cabine, 230R for garota and if you are paying by credit card an additional 23R. That right gents, they are out of their fucking minds -- 473R for 40 mins with a typical termas garota!

Of course, I had no interest sessioning with a garota. My goal was to make out with as many girls and get as many numbers. I was semi-successful and they fucked up my bar-tab as it was just 37R (3 caiprivodkas, 1 red bull, 1 amarula, 1 water).

The talent was decent at best. Certainly no stunners. If I had to guess, I would say there was a good 30-40 girls there. Quite a few familiar faces from places like 65, MC, etc. Like most termas, there were some cute girls with sloppy bodies or good bodies with ugly faces -- but none I would describe as a hot girl with a hot body.

The worst thing is they have 2 (yes 2 ) hall-monitors roaming the boite with their little pad and pencils in hand. And the head principal -- the Donatella Versace/Lady Gaga wannabe female owner making her frequent appearances as well. It makes for an uncomfortable atmosphere with one of those stupid bitches, but 3 women running making sure girls are "working" is a great way to make a make a guy go soft.

It is the same shit from the girls too -- won drink for me, you likey 2 girls, rooms are all full so I need your key now (even though there are 10 guys in the place).

I can't quite put words around it describing the feeling of being in this termas, but I feel like I have a sign hanging around my neck -- saying stupid-ass. Almost the same feeling like going to Las Vegas strip club in my opinion.
I feel bad for a few girls in the place as they seem to not like it much and there are too many girls in the place to go around with such few guys. Almost 500R to do a program in the place for 40 minutes really is being a stupid-ass gringo.

I don't get it at Centaurus -- I just hope the other Rio termas don't take a similar approach to their business.

Centaurus seems to be a place that you either really like - a small percentage of guys I know - or don't like at all and rarely or never go. I was almost going to go last Saturday but eventually decided to just go to Luomo instead.

That would be expensive even back in 3.96:1 days.

Ive met many girls at 4X$, Help and Meia Pataca who got jobs at Centaurus and they were definitely not top tier brasileiras. I guess the main reason why they are still in business is because the gentlemen who frequent that place want to only monger/ associate with other men of equal financial means. They may not want to be seen or talk to an average joe in a terma.

Thumper's right. Those who don't want to rub shoulders with (or fuck the same girls as) working stiffs choose Centaurus.

I'm not here to justify the price or argue about the usual beefs with this place but seems it has closed. From a talent perspective this place was great because you could always find something you liked in a pinch. Met several girls there I got know outside the club. Hopefully it reopens but if not, it was good (for some) while it lasted.
