From 2003/07 Onewolf - São Paulo Trip Report

Café Photo - A lot has been posted about this club and everything was pretty accurate. It is about a $R20+ cab ride from the midtown area. Entry fee was R$160 and includes 4 drink tickets, and there isn’t any charge for taking out a girl since they are all independents. This is a very big, upscale club, 2 floors of bars, tables, dancing areas for the average guys, a special VIP section on the 3rd floor. It wasn’t very crowded the night I visited and the security guard was pleasant, so I was able to go up to the VIP area and look around. Nothing special, and the girls seemed to rotate between all the floors so you aren’t missing anything if you don’t go up to the VIP room. I was there on a Wednesday but got there after midnight. There were about 100+ ladies, mostly mid 7’s, maybe 10-20% 6’s, and a handful that were 8’s or near 8's. The women were dressed mostly in very nice cocktail dresses and looked very classy. While I was checking out all the girls, there was a large exodus of couples that had made connections so by about 1 or 1:30AM , things had emptied out quite a bit. Most of the guys are Brazilian business guys who have to be at work the next morning so that explains the early clearout. Asking around, I heard that weekends were pretty slow, many of the Brazilian guys are married and have to spend time with their wives and families. I was waiting around hoping that one of the 8’s would become available and luckily enough, a very pretty 8+ loira cutie couldn’t make a deal with the guys she was drinking with. I ended up making a deal for R$300 for 4 hours, more than I would have liked, but it seems that Sao Paulo is more expensive than Rio. This was a very expensive evening, R$160 for entrance, R$300 for my date, R$40 for cabs, over R$500. I might try this again next visit, but it will be a lot cheaper to call an internet listed outcall service where I have seen the girls before I call. Since I joined this group, I would also try one of the massage places, especially the ones with websites with pictures of the girls. I would rate the girls at Bar Barella in Rio about the same as the girls at Café Photo. Say what you will about Centaurus in Rio, my experience there is that they had the best collection of girls I had seen and you can pay your inflated entry fee and have a couple of hour sessions for less Café Photo. Someone posted a link to Fracebel in Sao Paulo, http://www.francebel.com.br, and the girls look even better. I’m going to try them next trip for sure.

I was in SP last week for seven days to attend the business matters. Although I loved to explore night clubs and massage parlors where I have not been, overloaded business commitments and my SP namorada (girlfriend) prevented me from the exploration. But I was able to manage to go to Café Photo Thursday evening.

Even though these are trivial information about Café Photo, whatever it worth, I’ll share with you. Garotas works at Café must carry the invitation card to enter and do business at Café. The card is folded and inside of the card has the fee schedule information. Depending on the time of the night garotas “report to work”, different entrance fee applies. It starts at R$1.00 around 7:30p.m and at R$30.00 at 0:30 a.m. So, it spreads from R$1.00 to R$30.00 over 5 hours.

Garotas who want to come to work at the best time (around midnight) of the night, they have to pay most hefty. Least amount of time waiting for their love for the night comes with the price. As there is no guarantee for them to get their love for the night, it is convenience-risk balanced proposition. It was interesting for me to get this information.

Thursday should be the best day of the week in Café Photo and however this particular Thursday disappointed me. So I asked my buddy why quality and quantity of garotas was substandard. Answer was that winter season when substantial number of garotas follow money to other regions in Brazil, perhaps for warmer weather?

Lastly, I bought a bottle of JW Black (1 liter) for my buddy to express my gratitude for many years of favors and friendship. R$720.00 was the price on the menu but they gave me 30% discount. I thought because my buddy was many years of Café Photo patron but according to my buddy, Café Photo offers discount time to time and timing is unknown and unpublished.

Café Photo keeps the bottle for three months. As long as you have a bottle for three months, you only pay R$30.00 per visit. I’m not sure what is the limit of people can get in for R$30.00 for the bottle. My guess would be three or four. If you do your own math with probability of going there for a few times within three months, it is not a bad idea to buy a bottle of scotch or similar so you enjoy your time with your own bottle and a table. Just a thought.

By the way, there seems to have been a phase transition in the reports on Cafe Photo several months ago: (1) The fee of R 300-400 is now often reported, whereas R 600 used to be the norm, (2) Reports of solid 9's and 10's have dropped significantly, around the same time.

As far as I know, there is no bar fine, neither from you to the house nor garotas to the house. The transaction is strictly between you and the garota of your choice. When a garota is picked, she is free to go whenever her love of the night is ready and pleased to go. I've seen many SP locals leaving with garotas between 11:00 pm and 1:00 am.

I think that going rate is at around R$400.00. I chatted with a few (8 or 9 on my book) on my last few trips (May and July) and the requested rate was at around R$400.00. In one evening (technically in the morning at around 3:00 a.m.), one garota was willing to do the job at R$200.00. I guess she was kind of desperate and wanted to earn something rather than going home empty.

My visits in May (mainly Wednesday and Thursday) made my eyes open big and me drueling becasue many hot chicks - shape, face, height, attitude, ability to carry conversation in Enlgish, yet recent trip in July was very disappointed. As my buddy (SP local) explained, it might be related to seasonal issue.

I do agree with others' assessment of somewhat cocky attitude of Cafe's garotas. Even though Cafe has been losing legendary reputation, I think it still offers the class which I like it. And, a couple of head waiters now know me which makes me feel more comfortable and relaxed.

Update (translated from a post on a Brazilian board):

Photo is becoming somewhat different from what it used to be in the past. Now the waiters are pushing the girls to have the clients order them drinks while sitting with them (and frankly they are not subtle about it). The minimum price that the girls are asking has also changed from $R 300 to $R 400, and the cover has gone from R$ 158 to R$ 160 (?) with 4 drinks included.

In spite of the level of girls there being better than the average, I don't think it is worth the cost/benefit, mainly because things didn't go well for me with the last 3 girls I took out from there. Seems they have the habit of agreeing to one thing then doing another.

It really does not sound like too much has changed, outside of the entrance fee. The girls always wanted the higher prices, many of them got it, and others will lower their price depending on how much they want to be with you.

That being said, I have never seen such a collection of beautiful women in one place as I have at Cafe Foto. Maybe it is the way they are dressed as opposed to a club like Bomboa. There are beautiful women in both places to be sure, but sometimes I like to see what the girl looks like dressed up. I picked one of the girls in Bomboa over the others as she was dressed the best, in normal street clothes, and when I took her to dinner, she was beautiful on my arm. She is pictured below. Anyway, this is just one man's opinion.

Photo is generally deemed off limits for most Brazilians, even those with money, because of overpricing and poor attitudes.

It's the Help Disco for gringo businessmen, as and such, you will have to hunt for the gems or overpay. There was a time when it was the best whorehouse in Latin America, probably the world. Those days are long gone, with new ownership, jaded women, and Chinese mob money backing the enterprise.

Still, for the uniniated newbie, it is a eye-opening experience. A place every man needs to visit once in his life.

They are all good, and what is good for one man, may be another one's reject.

Sao Paulo has so many places and opportunities, and is so large(17,000,000), that you could hit a new club, massage place, escort service, every day for 4 days out of the week for six months, and not even begin to scratch the surface of that town. There are more and more opening up all the time.

It appears that experienced mongers (btw, from whom I have benefited great deal) express valid points from their perspectives.

My experience and comfort zone

I’ve been in Photo a few times over several years. The place has been serving me very well for fulfilling the needs – availability of decent grade girls, of girls who can carry conversation in English, attending staff acting like my servants. And, it has own class and reputation even though it is local/native monger’s unanimous opinions that it ain’t like used to be.

Regarding protocols between girls/waiters and customers, I have not seen much changes (my last visit was late July). Waiters usually leave my table or me alone unless I ask them to bring English-speaking girls or they are doing their job of replacing ashtray or refill ice bucket. When I chat with girls, I have not experienced proactive or pushy request of buying drinks for girls neither from girls nor waiters, even though I most of time ask girls whether they want to drink what I drink (Scotch) or something else. As you most of you know, most of girls drink wine, water, energy drink (which I personally think is crap) or mineral water. Individual drink is fairly pricey in Brazilian standards. For example, R$30.00 for a glass of Merlot is stiff for most of us but I’m not buy R$30.00 wine every day for every bimbos in SP and I consider it as part of doing mongering business. So I’m comfortable with that.

Photo economics

When you buy and store a bottle of Scotch, old and good Photo used to waive cover charges and started charging R$35.00 for each person and the charge is called Band Fee, what a half ass name that is! In any case this new revenue stream they found was instituted along the ownership and management change. I did not like this somewhat shortsighted move and know for fact that this change drove frequenting locals out of Photo. Not because of lousy R$35.00, most of them thought their privilege was taken away.

In any case, a bottle (1 liter) of JW Black is about R$750.00 and Photo keeps it for three months under your name. If you do your own math, it is not a bad deal to buy a bottle and pay only R$35.00 for each visit per person as long as you can visit four or five times for three months.

This is my routine. Get there around 10:00 p.m. after dinner, find a table where you will get a strategically good view, bring your bottle out and enjoy your drink and companionship. If I don’t like what we see, and then we move to other clubs like Bomboa, Bahamas, or crazy enough to drive all the way up to Campinas for Fazendinha.


Girls – most important topic

As you all know, quality and quantity of girls widely vary from Monday to Saturday and also seasonally, winter season is low. It is overriding opinion of locals that quality has been substantially degraded over last 10 to 12 years but you can find gems at any given night. That has been my experience. I have had no difficulty to locate a girl or two satisfying quality test of shape, size, face and attitude.

If any girl shows you hint of attitude, get ride of her before she finishes her sentence and there are 100 or more out there for seeking your love and money, and don’t be bashful about it.

I would not pay a dime more than R$400.00 for memorable night. I don’t think more articulation is necessary on this topic, right? You often can get it less than that depending on time of the night or chemistry between you and the girl. Hope I can tell you about my girlfriend sometime soon – how I got her, what she does for me when I’m in town. This is all about chemistry and your exhibition of genuine attitude towards your girl. That is the price so we should pay the price determined based on supply and demand principle.

Just one man’s opinion on Photo based on limited experiences. And my apology in advance for long write-up. I’m not a particularly smart one so I don’t know how to write concise report to convey my thoughts.

Moondog, your lady looks fabulous as always. Hope four of us can have a dinner soon. I’m scheduled to be in SP during the week of October 13 which was changed from the 1st week of October. But this schedule can be changed as always.

There will be a higher than usual (which isn't really very high at all) number of girls who speak English at Photo. Not unusual to meet cute little Brazilian girls who just spent 3 months with a client in London, in the process of marrying an American exec from the states, has a U.S. tourist visa, etc.

And as much as I knock the place, well, I always picked a girl that was fuckable every time I have gone.

One thing that may minimize the chances of a bad time: This is a place where it pays to negotiate how long they will stay and what they will do beforehand. There seems to be a "scam" running amongst the girls, where they steer unsuspecting gringo businessmen to the Photo-owned love motel nearby, go up for 1-2 hours, and immediately head back to Photo for another pick-up.

I embarrassingly let myself be talked into going to this hotel, and my girl was out of there in under 2 hours. She was not too enthusiastic so I did not mind. In any case, as I was sitting in the lobby of this hotel, EVERY couple that came in was from Photo. And almost EVERY couple that I came in with was leaving at the same time. Not a coincidence, believe me. It's the girls running their system.

The cost-benefit ratio is not favorable at Photo in my opinion. I have never paid over 300R, but toss in the cover 150-160R and cab 40R, and you're spending 500R minimum. There are better deals to be found, unless you can charge it to your company.

There are a group of girls here that I see every time I go. And we're talking years, not months. I would highly recommend staying away from these women. They are pro and jaded for sure.

I've meet cool girls while I was visiting Belo Horizonte, Goiania, and Brasilia who told me they had done stints at Photo. So perhaps if you get one relatively new to Sao Paulo, your experience will be good. Easy enough to ask them such things as part of the interview process.

One additional note on Photo. Some Brazilian friends of mine are telling me they are trying to make another push to open up a Cafe Photo in Rio.

They tried once before (previous ownership), starting construction in Leblon, before they were chased out of town by well-to-do Leblon residents who (rightfully) predicted that their neighborhood would become overrun with foreign sex tourists.

I don't think they'll be any more successful this time around.

There are places open on a Sunday night in SP. Kilt, Romanza (don't go), etc. But it's a weak night, as most Brazilians spend Sundays with the family.

On the other hand, the non-pro pick-up action is great. I always had great success with chicks at Monte Cristo in Vila Olimpia, starting at around 6pm on Sunday. Age range is 18-30, tilted towards patricinhas and mauricinhos, and almost all the girls are there for a one night stand, or at least, a night of tongue wrestling.

I also met the sexiest morenas and light-skinned mulatas in Vila Madalena for Sunday Pagode night at one of the local clubs there. Now those girls are a world apart from the (mostly) European-looking patricinhas of Vila Olimpia. Aggressive, sexy, and they'll let you know if they find you attractive.

Bomboa, the latest and the greatest of SP (at least for saturday night) is a club called Marcenaria in Vila Madalena. Have you cased out this place yet?

Here is information about Fazendinha.

It is located in outside of Campinas and it would take about 1 hour 15 minutes to 30 minutes from SP. Website (www.fazendinha.com.br) has adequate information (contact number, map and address along with others – garotas, show, facility) about this little farm.

You get off main road and drive a one quarter mile unpaved road and then hang left and then this sex compound will be before you.

Facility
It is complete and self-sufficient compound surrounded by wall and protected by guards along with dogs. This protection is not only for you as their guests, but also their continued business prosperity and interest. If this place is robbed and the news goes out to mongers community, this place is pretty much done. This applies to just about any entertainment establishments (especially mid to upscale places) in Brazil based on my limited knowledge about Brazil’s sex industry.

Main facility is fair size which I think can accommodate at least 200 – 300 people. The compound completes with on-site motel, at least 20 to 30 rooms where 5-6 room cluster spread throughout the compound. Rooms are spacious and clean through good care of relatively old building. It comes with shower (no bath) and bed is nice and firm. Most of rooms come with mirrors like love motels. There is swimming pool for summer time BBQ party during daytime. I never been in day time but the website has daytime schedule.


Money matters

I think cover is R$75.00 which applies towards food and drink consumption. Yes, they have full restaurant menu from which you can order reasonable (not fantastic) dinner and food is reasonably priced. I guess that in order to support complete and self-sufficient business model, they offer complete dinner.

The room cost is supposed to be R$35.00 per hour or use. I don’t think they strictly track the time though. I had paid R$25.00 for a room once so sometimes your waiter can do you a small favor.

Garotas will ask you R$200.00 to R$300.00 to spend time with you in their motel but will be perfectly happy with R$150.00. When I offer R$150.00, all garotas whom I had had gladly accepted it without further ugly negotiation. You may think you can hard bargain down to R$100 or R$125. I never tried and you try how far you can go.

Garortas are resident in this compound and discouraged to be taken out as so many rules that they have to follow (i.e. return time in very early in the morning) and expensive (double the price), so I think it is not worth it.
In mid week (Tues – Fri), you would have garota selection between 75 to 125. All will report to work at around 10:30 a.m. It is not easy to find English speaking garotas which is big downside. If you are accompanied by Portuguese speaking buddies, you will be good and well. If you ask waiters to bring English speaking girls, they will do their best to accommodate your needs. Waiters are very customer-focused and if you gave your waiter small tip (R$5 to 10), you are all set for the evening.

Quality (shape, appearance, attitude) of garotas is reasonable. You will find typical bell curve distribution. Most of them are 6,7 or 8 while some 9 and rare 10. This scale is of course based on my book so pickier mongers on this board would have different distribution.

This compound offers you different atmosphere (open air) than nightclubs in SP. If you want to walk around the facility (inside of the wall) with your garota, she will be more than happy to do that with you. So you walk away from noisy (shows, music, conversation) environment of the nightclub.

A friend and myself put it to good use last Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. We were at Bomboa and it was really cooking but my friend insisted on going to Cafe Photo. He had heard alot about it and had never been. So we taxied over to Cafe Photo and got there about 1130 p.m. They had already opened the second floor because there were over 150 garotas in attendance with more coming in as we got there. Not one gal less than an 8 with only about 40 guys there. So the ratio was terrific. A band on each floor provided great music and atmosphere. Waiters did ask if we needed any assistence but did not push drinks after the garotas were seated. We were seated on the second floor about halfway away from the band by the windows. A great spot to judge the talent. The garotas would come by and wiggle the butts, adjust the hair and try to get our attention. My friend made the mistake of looking too long at a big-breasted blonde and she thought that was his hi-sign. She sat down but had an attitude and I whispered to him to send her on her way since there was so much talent. He did and the parade of champions resumed. We enjoyed the parade for an hour and then made our selections. My girl was from Campinas and the other girl was from Porto Allegre. Both spoke English um pouco, we talked and had drinks for 30 minutes before the bargaining started. They wanted to know what hotel we were staying at so the hot sheet hotel was a no-go. Both girls wanted US$200.00 each but I switched to realis and offered R$300.00. They came down to R$450.00 quickly but would not go below R$450.00. My girl had a car, so I had her promise to take care of the transportation for both garotas going and coming. Both were great looking and both turned out to be very talented back at the hotel (separate rooms by the way). But still YMMV. About twice the expense of Bomboa with the taxi fare each way(R$25.00), entrance fee (R$160.00) and garota fee (R$400.00 and up). But for me, once or twice a year it is a nice treat.

By the way, I will be back in Sampa October 14 and 15 (yeah I know, life is a bitch)if you want to check out the talent at Bomboa, I will be there. Check with Moondog and we can even meet him on the 15th.

It certainly sounds like you and your buddy had great time at Photo. Your reporting was somewhat encouraging from the garotas' quality. Quality is getting better as winter season is behind them and getting into the season.

I share your rationale on overall lust cost at Photo vs. that of other equally fun places. Doing it at Photo or Bomboa a few times would not break my bank. However I always do my best to protect monger's right and keep the market price in check, so I negotiate the lust fee diplomatically but firmly. Often I can weed out substandard attitiude garotas during the negotiation. Once hands are shaken, I treat my girl of the night elegantly with respect and care. It makes the night much more fun mutually and sometimes (not always) you may get unexpected dividends.

Here is my story of unexpected dividends

I picked up a girl at Photo one Saturday evening in May last year. She was working there on and off, mainly Fridays and Saturdays, parttime based to make extra gas money, actually to earn extra income for her new car payments. This is what I learned through subsequent get togethers with her and her friends. I could not comprehend her mindset of whoring for the car payment but we are not here to be judgemental or analytic about social-culture trend in Sao Paulo.

In any case, I did have great time with her and treated her very nicely like I would treat like any woman who wants to sleep with me. Whatever I did, I must've pressed her button. I think it varies with the individual. Some guys want as many different girls as they can have during the day, as opposed to having one they can call their girlfriend while they are in town.

It is nice to have a choice.

I went here Monday night at around 10p. It was 160r for 4 drinks of any kind. At first I was disappointed with the quality but it was only because of the time. At 11p the place was hopping and had some excellent girls. There was one who reached the 1000r milestone when I asked for an all nighter. That was a first for me. I balked and she asked me "you how muchee". I countered with 200r. As you might guess, that was the end of the negotiations.

I went there on Thursday night. Well I was pretty cocky as I had a back-up option and I went there at about 12:30 at night there was about 50 girls there and I have to say that these girls are very good looking all shapes and sizes. R$400 is typically the price for tln in SP, garotas price tln as 2 pops. So garota starting at R$500 sounds normal to me. Counter at $250 then you should be able to finalize deal at R$300. But expect to be called cheap in SP.

That being said, going to Cafe Foto is like going to a Miami Beach cocktail party or a Sunday afternoon wedding reception. About 100 girls, all dressed to the nines, in a country club atmosphere. Eye contact is fierce.

Entrance fee is R$160 which includes 4 drinks. The best nights are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Get there around 8:30 or 9:00 if you want to have dinner, otherwise around 10:00 or so.

It is very difficlut to make up your mind as there so many girls, all beautiful.

I went to Cafe Foto with Hunterman a couple of Saturdays ago, fairly late. Late Saturdays clearly are not prime time so what I am about to say should take this into account.

I actually was not very impressed given the kudos others have given to this place. There were I would say two or three garotas in the 8-9 category, including the one Hunterman picked, but there were many many more in the 5-6 category IMHO with way too many 5's (in my book a five is someone you would do if you didn't have to pay very much and there was nothing better, but you wouldn't consider posting her picture). All in all, I can't say the quality of the garotas on average was any better than what I have seen on a good day in Cafe Millenium or Connection, and it may not have been that high.

What you do get is alot of English speaking garotas, which some might appreciate, but I don't. I get the impression that many of the Photo garotas consider themselves shrewd businesswomen rather than party garotas. Along with this you get relatively high prices. I'm not saying it is not worth a visit, but I would suggest that newbies not get their expectations too high. Then again, if you are such a newbie that you haven't yet experienced termas in Rio, or other clubs in Sao Paulo, you might be very happy with what you find at Cafe Photo.

Again though, I was there on a Saturday, and it may not have been a good test. And we all have different personal preferences. I prefer to meet my garotas in skimpy bathing suits (or less) rather than elegant evening gowns, etc.

By the way, the entrance fee was R$100 which entitled us to 2 drinks. From what I gather the normal entry fee is R$160 which gives you 4 drinks. I suspect the difference related to when we arrived, late Saturday night.

Weekends, especially late in the evening, is the absolute worst time for Foto. Next time try Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thrusday nights.

Hey, Laguy, I thought the garota I ended up with was a 10 in looks if not in attitude. Just shows the differences in personal taste. But I agree that the other talent wasn't quite up to the standards Moondog describes. Nonetheless, I will go again next time I am in SP.
