Mirador Laguito is mentioned in 2013/04 Camaro1257 - Viaje a Cartagena
quote:I had an excellent studio apartment for $60.00 per night. I didn’t have a good view but I was more than satisfied for the price. The internet was slow sometimes but overall it was pretty efficient. Security was on point 24 hours a day. Chicas had to sign in with cedula and the front door was always locked, you had to be buzzed in and out by security. The location was familiar to all the taxi drivers and there were ATM’s and restaurants close by. Would I stay there again? HELL YEAH!
quote:We took a taxi to Mirador, the building in Laguito where we were staying. Our apartment, on the 14th floor, was a two-level deal at the top of the building. The downstairs had a nice kitchen and living room, a laundry room, and a bedroom down the hall. The upstairs had a small kitchen/living room, with an attached bedroom and a large balcony with a large Jacuzzi.
...
We turned on the air conditioning, and very little happened. It was hot and humid, so we really need the air-conditioning to work. It took hours and hours to cool down the apartment; apparently, the air in Cartagena was so humid that a properly functional air-conditioning unit took a very long time to reduce the temperature.
There were a few other problems with the apartment. Some of the lights weren’t working, and some of the vertical blinds on the upper level were missing; others were not properly functional. This would be a problem in the bedroom as two walls were glass and I like to sleep past sunrise. The wi-fi internet was weak upstairs, even though the base station was right below on the lower level. We called Juan Ventura, who came over promptly, directly from the hospital where his wife had just delivered a son. He lived downstairs, so it was convenient for both of us.
Juan pretty much got everything on track. Some of the lights just never worked right, they burned out after a few days, he said; they weren’t that necessary anyway. He got the internet working passably although not perfectly, and fixed the blinds somewhat (including a blanket over most of the window/wall overlooking the ocean, and there was still plenty of daytime light—and morning light too, unfortunately).
quote:Mirador Laquito: (Cartagena)
I had an excellent studio apartment for $60.00 per night. The building is located in Laquito. I didn’t have a good view but I was more than satisfied for the price. There was a kitchen, dining bar, living room and decent size bedroom all in the same space. The internet was slow sometimes but overall it was pretty efficient. Security was on point 24 hours a day. Chicas had to sign in with cedula and the front door was always locked, you had to be buzzed in and out by security.
There was no room safe but the building did have a small pool available for the residents. The advantage to the Mirador was the location was familiar to all the taxi drivers and there were ATM’s and restaurants close by within a 10 minute walk.
