I'm looking for a classy motel (yea, the drive-in sex kind) near the Bogota airport -- preferably within 10 or 15 min driving distance. By classy I mean that I don't mind paying a lot for a motel, but I want it to be one that has nice rooms, food, etc. I have a rendesvous coming up and don't want to spend all my time in the trancones instead of on the colchones.
Any assistance would be great. Thanks in advance.

Next month 11/05 I am traveling to Bogota with several business associates (for business) and will be staying at the Royal Hacienda. My days are full but would like to play in the evenings. I am a newbie and my Spanish is moderate- any recommendations? One of my friends travelled to Bogota last year, went to Las Abejitas (MP) , and loved it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I unlocked my Blackberry from Cingular. When I go to Medellin, I pop out my Cingluar chip and pop in the Comcel chip.
It works great.

Sniper,
I use the International Cingular plan. Basically activate the week before I leave and disactivate it as soon as I return. $20 for the month with unlimited data. I keep a Colombian cell phone for local calls as you are paying $1.50 a minute on Cingular but at least if I am needed my Blackberry will ring in Colombia and people can reach me. I just try to avoid using that at all costs. Anyway curious how much it costs you in Comcel minutes for data. I get about 50-60 emails a day.
By Sniper on Friday, October 27, 2006 - 09:58 am: Edit |
Good suggestion.
Actually I have a Vonage phone that I use in Colombia that my PBX in the US automatically forwards to. I also have my laptop on at all times to monitor email.
At first, I left my Cingular phone on while in MDE. I didn't get phone calls but I did get data. It worked great but it cost me 10 cents per received email and 50 cents to send an email. Not too bad since I only get about 50 emails or less a day.
Now I just suspend my data while away so I don't worry about overages and I just monitor my laptop when I am in my room.
I just use Comcel for voice, I just like to have my Blackberry with me so I can jot down addresses and phone numbers while in a club. I could easily just leave the Blackberry at home and get a cheap cell phone in MDE.

Biggy, I use my Blackberry in Mexico on the Mexico plan (turn on/turn off), but have not used the international plan in SA. So, do I understand you correctly that if I do the international set up before I go down it is unlimited email? In addition for local calls I have a Colombian phone, so that would work perfect. Thanks, AZ
By Sniper on Friday, October 27, 2006 - 03:08 pm: Edit |
Data is coming from the US, so for Cingular you can buy unlimited data for $19.95 (in California) per month. But Cingular screws up my bill everytime I change something and I don't go down enough or get enough email to justify it.
But you really can't use it if you pull out the chip and put in a comcel chip for example. So you are caught using 2 phones. A pain for me at least.
I just have a chip that I keep active that I switch.
By Biggy on Saturday, October 28, 2006 - 05:00 am: Edit |
Azguy they charge $20 a month for unlimited data. You can turn the plan on before you leave and turn the plan off when you return. Sniper is right as far as a nuisance. However I need to have access to my data all day back and forth with my company. The phone calls get billed at $1.50 a minute so I use my Colombian cell for calls but if someone needs to reach me and they do not know how to call or if a client does not want to be bothered with trying to locate me they just call my Blackberry and I take the call in Colombia. In one week on my last trip the phone bill ended up being $125 but I had a lot going on. The time prior to that no one called and I emailed back and forth easily for only $20. Now the wierd thing is they tell you all you do is turn it off and then turn it on. Good luck with that. I had to search out networks which I found three in Colombia and then just try them until one worked. Then sometimes it would disconnect from the network and I would have to search again. It was wierd because I would use the Comcel network. It would loss access after a few hours. I would then be denied access so I would switch to another and after a day it also would deny me access. Then I would switch back to Comcel and it would work again. When I got back to the States not one charge. However it is not as seemless as they make it seem. I had to figure a few things out.

It might be wise to have a cheap Colombian cell phone for carrying around. Leave all that other shit in your room - locked up.
Last time in MDE I had a camera stolen from my luggage by employee(s) of a nice hotel. They had a safe in the room. I fucked up by not putting the camera in the safe.

There has been a bit of a discussion about problems purchasing a cell phone/SIM card in Colombia. I had mine in about 20 minutes of oggling the tits on the Comcel girl while she filled out the paperwork. Very nice little Nokia with time for CUP 100,000. They have special for CUP 63,00 with 50,000 time going on now. I passed becuse the phones did not look like they were worth a damn, and it was not worth the difference to find out.

I read this on another web site & thought it was pretty funny.
A man on his vacation in Colombia was sitting in a restaurant in Parque Llares looking over the menu when a plate was brought to another table. It looked and smelled so good that he put down the menu and when the waited came to him he said that he wanted what they were having. The waiter told him that he was very sorry but they only have one serving of the item each Sunday and he could not get him that dish. The man sighed and just pointed to the menu and said give me this. Shortly the waiter cane back with a very nice steak for the hungry tourist. The man asked what he would have to do to try the other dish. The waiter told him that if he paid for it now that he would be able to have it next Sunday. The man immediately handed over his credit card and made the reservation.
Sunday came around and the man showed up hungry and eager for his special plate. Soon the waiter came to his table with the plate and the tourist just closed his eyes and took a long deep sniff of the meal. His memory was good and it smelled just as tempting as before and he dug right into his special dish. After he had finished the chef stopped by to ask how he liked it? The man complimented the chef on an excellent meal praising all of it. But he had one question for the chef. “I am not complaining mind you but if I remember last week the dish had been a much larger portion.” The chef explained that what he had just eaten was the balls from the Sunday bullfight. I understand that but why such a difference. The chef said “This week the bull won.”

Hey guys,
which airline is the one that has the "discover colombia deal"? You can fly to 3 cities for $100 something bucks?
Will be there again in March...

That would be PACO's moped rental, pizzas and airline service ;) JUST KIDDING.
I checked it out a few years ago, but would like to find an airline that's doing it now. I believe Aviance had/or has it but for Europeans.
Aires had (may still have it), but I recall they had these mindnumbing flight rules you gotta diagram.

Colombia discover pass info:
-Buy thru Avianca (prior to departure)
-Fly to a total of 3 cities, if arriving into Bogota w Avianca $180, arriving thru another airline $220.
-Can increase to 4 or 5 cities for an additional 60 or 80 bucks.
Sounds reasonable...unless locals in Colombia can tell us that you can get cheaper in country?

Subject: Is Colombia Safe? News
Is Colombia as safe as the U.S.?
Cities in Colombia, the world's biggest cocaine exporter infamous for crimes related to its four-decade-old guerrilla war, have become as safe as those in the United States, according to a poll by a Bogota think tank.
Urban crime has fallen as part of President Alvaro Uribe's popular crackdown on Marxist rebels who still control wide rural areas. He has stepped up patrols to reduced kidnappings on the highways.
From October 2005 through the same month last year, 15 of every 100 Colombians said they had been the victim of some type of crime compared with 17 out of every 100 in the United States, said the poll published on Thursday by the Security and Democracy foundation.
"Colombians have developed sophisticated techniques of survival, such as refusing to give out personal information and women driving with their bags in the trunk of their cars rather than in the passenger seat. This helps," said Pablo Casas, who prepared the poll.
The survey, held in Colombia's six biggest cities, also showed the Andean country compares well with Great Britain, which registers 24 crime victims out of every 100 citizens.
The think tank said the poll is 95.5 percent reliable and more accurate than official figures as many crimes go unreported here.
It did not take into account the thousands who are killed or displaced in the war every year, or the average three Colombians per day who step on land mines.
Despite billions of dollars in U.S. aid aimed in part at fighting Colombia's insurgency, the guerrillas still rule wide swathes of countryside with an iron fist. Their operations are funded by cocaine trade, and to a lesser extent by kidnappings.
The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC, dragged four civilians out of their village homes and executed them on January 1 in northern province of Antioquia, local officials said.
"The government has a lot to do before it can claim to have taken control of the whole country," Casas said. "Illegal groups are still fighting for control of rural cocaine-producing land, and that accounts for Colombia's overall high murder rate."
Twenty six Colombians out of every 100,000 are murdered with firearms each year compared to the world average of three to four out of every 100,000, according to the United Nations.
Hope this info is good for all you guys that havent visit Colombia.
Best regards,
George Marson

Hey guys,
Still in planning stages for first trip to Columbia for 2-3 weeks starting July 14th with perhaps a quick Panama stop. In country I am leaning towards spending most, if not all the time in CTG. My reason for such is going to the beach and temperature.
Ideally I would like to be within a reasonable walk to to friendly beach and a girl friendly apartment. Hunter's links look good and within my budget of maybe around $400 a week for decent apartment with a seating area, internet, safe, and a kitchen. Leatherette couches get bonus points. I would consider trip buddying for a big place.
-For those of you on TSM, is there much additional info on Columbia not also here?
-Over the counter drugs? Specifically Cialis and Ambien?
-Is good quality clothing a bargin?
-Do shops sell adult toys?
thanks
By Hunter on Sunday, March 11, 2007 - 04:08 am: Edit |
1, No not really, there used to be but most of it is dated.
2, Cialas abnd Viagra are there, probably the latter as well.
3, Not in Ctg, better of buying it in Panama.
4, Don't know, there is an adult shop on Av. San Martin, but never been in there.

By Sandman on Thursday, March 15, 2007 - 06:23 am: Edit |
In CTG no problems.
You may meet with more resistance in MDE. They are very proud of their non mixed heritage and tend to be a little more prejudiced towards blacks. Although, green always speaks a different language and eliminates a lot of barriers. Several AA's staying at the Mansion had no problems whatsoever in the massage places and clubs. They met with more resistnce with SG's and non-pros in the malls. I did a video interview with about 8 chicas at the mansion one day. All of them said they didn't like black men but that was probably more of a peer pressure thing because I saw two of them with two black guys staying at the mansion the next day! Kinda funny really!
Should not have any safety problems in either place if you keep your street smarts about you...Don't flash cash, don't wear jewlery, find a buddy as a wingman, yadda, yadda.
Lots posted on this site about places to avoid and which places are safe in both cities.
By Scooby_1781 on Thursday, March 15, 2007 - 07:32 pm: Edit |
You will probably meet alot of prejudice in Medellin. They are way up in the mountains and the slave trade did not reac them. They do not have the black influence that the costal cities have. CTG, on the other hand is off the hook with blacks and you would have no problems there.
By Sniper on Friday, March 16, 2007 - 07:34 am: Edit |
Keeper, the sex shop sell a lot of toys but the variety isn't anywhere near what we have in the USA.
The prices are outrageous as well.

Thanks for the info guys.
Looks like I will travel as usual with my fun kit.
Trip still four months off and CTG looks to be for me to go and sample. I do notice here and on other boards conflicting reports of how the action is. Many seem to be from super vets and smell of burnout on a locale or from guys that sound like they would be better suited in a very dense place like AC or Pattaya.

Ambien was impossible to find OTC. Viagra and Cialis were no problem though. They would offer Zanax instead of Ambien.

Hey gents...
With a recent taste of the Phils and Indo (sorry on taking sooo long to post pics and comments...it will happen) I am ready for some latino spice.
My first visit to Colombia was allright...spent it all in Cartagena. This time I am hitting Medellin, Cali, Pereira and maybe Manizales. Likely first half of December.
I know of the SG action in MDE but wondering about the other cities...any comments?
Also, if anyone wants to join in to set up a brazilian style festa I am all ears.
TIA
By Tomtom33 on Wednesday, August 22, 2007 - 02:24 am: Edit |
You won't have any problem finding playmates in Cali. However, there are more significant safety concerns in Cali. Watch yourself. Where there are SGs, there are usually more problems.
Pereira and Manizales are safe enough. Both cities are in the 500,000 metro population range. I would hop in a taxi and ask about SGs.
By Sniper on Thursday, August 23, 2007 - 07:40 am: Edit |
Pereira is known as the city of open arms. But I can tell you that it should be known as the city of open legs.
Non pros don't have the hang ups that they do in Medellin. It is very easy to find local free pussy.
Don't bother with overused prepagos anywhere in Colombia. A lot of guys here say that you avoid the drama when you go with pro, but as you can see from many of the reports, they get the drama anyway.
Just go with fresh non pro meat. You'll have a much better time. That being said, you won't experience non pro if you stay at the Mansion or VIP or any other monger hangout.
By Azguy on Friday, August 24, 2007 - 01:37 am: Edit |
Good luck setting up a festa with a group of Colombianas. We tried it in Cartagena and although we had a great time, the girls got stuck on a guy and that was it for the night. They got very upset at the suggestion of any switch up. Could have just been that group. AZ
PS Sniper, I didnt know you went to Pereira, that is on my list for next year, please share either here or give me call. BTW, how was this last trip to MDE? Off to Rio next Friday, you are welcome to join. Later, AZ
By Concarne on Sunday, August 26, 2007 - 03:13 pm: Edit |
Well thanks for the tips/comments.
I also wonder what the good pick up joints would be...other than wandering around and flirting at the mall or on the street. For example, which would be good clubs/discos to check at the different cities?
The scene at CTG was mixed for me in this regard...places like Tripletera and Giro Matto and others appear to me to be more like pro's hangouts. There were a couple of more ritzy clubs (forget the names) that were more the non-pro scene.
Anyone around first half of December?
By Stokeman on Thursday, August 30, 2007 - 02:13 pm: Edit |
Stokeman here, back after a year off. Anyway, The past couple of years I have been doing the Pattaya\BKK thing (actually planning on another trip in Jan). After reading some of the SA trip reports (sniper's were especially enticing), I
decided I might try a week in Medellin in December.
Although not a newbie for mongering, I am a newbie in Columbia. When I went to Pattaya\BKK the first time I had excellent help showing me
the ropes (shout out to Bahtman, Senator, and Rooster).
I know that having someone to show you the area and where to go\not go is vital to a good monger trip. With that being the case, will there
be anyone in Medellin from Dec 9 thru Dec 17. I could most definitely use the experience from seasoned Columbia mongers.
Hope to here from some of you veteren mongers.

On my recent return from Colombia I flew back from Bogota and went through regular checkup and custom and no problem whatsoever. The usual questioning and scans and nothing out of the ordinary. I had one checked luggage, and one carry-on, my laptop bag. Uneventful flight back to Miami on AA-916. I was in the first class so first of the few to get to the immigration line. The Chinese American immigration female officer asked the usual questions such as purpose of the trip, length, etc. and scanned my passport. Next thing is she was motioning someone and asked me to follow this gentleman. This gentleman led me to an office where a lot of people were sitting, gave my passport to another officer in this office and asked me to take a seat. I mentioned that my next flight was in a couple of hours and I also need to claim my bag. They acknowledged what I said and mentioned they would call me shortly. An hour passed by and no one had called me so I approached the officers again and got the same response. Take a seat and someone will call you. And then a few minutes later they called my name and asked if I had checked luggage and I said yes so they accompanied me to get my luggage and then we came back to the same room. Shortly I was called again and led to another smaller room and this room was similar to the integration rooms you see in movies only it was not that dramatic. Anyway, questioning started, purpose of the trip, length of stay, cities I visited, and hotels I stayed at. They asked me how much money I was carrying into Colombia and how much I brought back. Now it has already been over 2 hours now and I surely had missed my flight but they seemed not concerned at all and mention the airline should accommodate me if I told them I was held by the INS and Customs. At this time I was not worried about missing the flight but to get the heck out of this integration. After they got all the answers they had me turn on my laptop and then they took over. I had not idea what the hell they were looking for on my laptop but I sure did not have any objectionable material. They then took every single thing out my laptop bag including a couple of memory sticks and checked them as well. I did have a program on my laptop named “HistoryKill” which I run to clear out Internet cache and temporary files and somehow that became a problem. I pointed them to its website and told them this is a program that kills your internet cache so my software runs clean but they thought I was hiding something. They then took every single thing out of my checked bag and went through all my shirt and pants pockets. I sure was not hiding anything or brought anything back, not even Colombian coffee so I had nothing to worry about. All in all spent over 3 hours, a lot of questioning, they went through my laptop, my camera, my memory sticks, laptop bag, and luggage but found nothing objectionable and had to let me go. Now I have been to Colombia closed to 2 dozen times in the last 4 years and had never experienced anything like this before. Making me nervous for my next trip in October/November that was going to be my last Colombia trip of the year.

Phdmonger, my last trip through immigration/customs was the opposite of yours. I flew from Bogota to Miami on an LAN flight that landed in the evening and was practically waved through immigration. I was one of the first to go thru customs and was asked the usual questions(what was the purpose of your trip, where did you stay and so on). Then one of the officers asked me if I had been to Medellin and about the women there. Next thing you know we were talking about the Mansion and they said that they had stayed there before. I mentioned that I had stayed at my novia's apartment in Centro in Bogota(which is around the corner from La Piscina and about a dozen other clubs) and that the neighborhood was full of hookers. We had a good laugh, they said I should get a pre-nup, and I was on my way to my connecting flight.
