Coming from you, this sounds like thumbs up for a Rio trip. Thanks for all the updates.

As there still haven't been any Rio posts in 2004 and the Termas forum has been a bit quiet I thought I'd list my current top 3.

1) Solarium : Best quality in terms of looks at the moment, and competitively priced. Also have never had a really disappointing session here.

2) 4x4 : But only on a Friday when it's buzzing with plenty of energy and lots of variety. Cheap as chips prices help.

3) L'uomo : Most comfortable to relax and have a few drinks in if you're not in a hurry to go to a cabin.

I actually agree with your rankings.

I went to Solarium for the first time in early December and it was awesome. It's small like Luomo but there were 30 plus girls (around 6:30 one week night) and 9 guys in there... and two of them were my friends. I was paralyzed for over an hour trying to decide which girl I wanted.

I also love 4X4 because they waive the entrance fee if you are active before 5:00. My visits there always seem to be about $20 less than 65 or Solarium for example.

As for Luomo... it will always be my favorite though because it was my first. I don't care if they have a bunch of pigs with lipstick on... I'll still go to hang out.

L'Uomo will always be my favourite too, and for exactly the same reason as Aldaron. It was my first experience and it hit me like a ton of bricks.

4X4 is my second-favourite. I didn't like the boite too much, as it was full of Brasilieros with their robes wrapped around their waists, and as I am a short guy I didn't like navigating all the manflesh. The service and garotas, however, were great, and I sessioned before 5 to save some reais.

Another thing that I like about 4x4, is that for what you pay for 40 minute sessions at other T's you can get an "hour" at 4X4:-)

I have been in Rio for a couple of days and hit three Termas. So far,

1. Monte Carlo - On Saturday they had a very high level of talent and the ratio was very good.

2. Solarium - Today was Sunday so I hit it at 4PM. It took an hour to warm up but the girls were looking great.

3. Luomo - On Friday night this place was so full of Italians that I had to wait 10 minutes just to squeeze into the locker room. Way too many guys and some so-so girls.

Fortunately, HELP was on fire that night. It was packed and the level of talent was unreal. I am very picky and saw at five perfect 10īs and a dozen strong 9īs. Saturday things were cooling off by about 20 percent.

I too vote for Luomo, although 65 may easily move up to the #1 spot if my next trip to Rio is like the last.

1 - Luomo
2 - 65
3 - Monte Carlo
4 - 4x4

Luomo is the most comfortable to hang out in and the girls are awesome. It's a bit odd going to a terma that's in a shopping mall, and the locker room is way to small, but with garotas like Bia, Shayla and Marina and past greats like Camila, it's a winning place.

65 has all of the good points that 4x4 has but in a much nicer environment. The bar is nicer, locker room, showers, etc and the rooms are nicer too.

I've been very impressed with the Monte Carlo talent, and the garota I've had the best sex with at 4x4 moved to MC a few months ago, but it seems to get very crowded with newbies and tourist guys who are complete fuckups when it comes to mongering.

Like SweetMesquite says, 4x4 is the WalMart of termas - every size, shape and color that you want and is priced right. However, the girls at the front desk, particularly the Japanese girl, are complete cunts compared to the cool front desk crews elsewhere.

This year, if not during the short March trip than the long one in July, I plan to Solarium and a dive terma or two, just to check them out.

well cozumel it was last time as was there,and the lovely rebecka was there too.she had gained abit weight.

The front desk at LUomo charges me (if not many) a 50 centavo "tax" so that they can keep an extra real. They add the 50 centavos to my bill (even though I ordered nothing that costs 50 centavos), and even if they forget to add the tax, they will short me a real anyway. I let them get away with it.

The 4x4 front desk has stopped asking a "cheep", and they always used to ask me for one.

I haven't been to Rio in over a year, but 'Im about to come back at the end of Feb. My favorite was and still is nostalgia wise, Luomo. It was my first and by the far the most comfortable and intimate, not to mention that I had a "favorita" there (which has both an up and down side.) I had really good experiences at MC with great performers. 4 x 4 was exciting just for the sheer volume and the energy level. Solarium was dissapointing, so Im glad to hear that it has improved.

I'd appreciate a current update regarding presence or absence of some of my favorites from last time, if anyone would be kind enough to respond: Sara from Luomo, Alini & Kathleen from MC, Sabrina from 4 x 4. I know I've been away for a while and things change in terma-land.

Ok guys, looking for a little advice. I have been to centaurus, 4x4, luomo, monte carlo, help, barbarella, franks, and solarium.

I am getting ready to go to rio for an extended period of time this week, and in addition to the girls I already know there, I would like to see some of the other termas, especially given the state of help and barbarella (prices/quality).

I would like to hear what you guys think of the other termas, aeroporto, praia club, etc. and if you think they are good to visit or what your experience has been there. If you like the others then I will try them out. Also, if you think the ones I have already been to are the best (I like centaurus and solarium the best) then let me know that also.

If you're up for a change and a good price/value ratio, look up some of the massage places in downtown centro. $50R for 30 mins

You traipse around in a highrise office building until you find one u like. There are some real gems there if you look. And they rarely see gringos.

Also, don't be afraid to hit some of the dive termas like 502 in Centro or some of the ones in Copa. I always advocate the sex apartments in Centro, they are a great value and an interesting change of pace. One thing to consider though - I never met a madam or garota in those places who speaks a word of English, so make sure you know some very basic Portuguese before hitting one of these. As Deeg says, they rarely see foreigners in these places.

I'll be down in a week....same places in BS's posts or do you have some specific recommendations...also love to tag along if anyone else is going slumming....

so how do i find the "sex apartments in centro" and the "massage places in centro"? I speak portuguese well so that part is no problem. Are all of the "massage places" like in the US where you go there for a massage and they charge you for extras? As for the sex apartments, are they on the internet or are these places listed under something in the yellow pages?

Also, what do you guys think of the termas besides solarium, 4x4, luomo, monte carlo and centaurus? Anyone have any favorites outside of this list?

My biggest problem now is that when I go to 4x4 or a similar place I have already been I have to look around for an hour or two to find a girl I want to have sex with that I don't know already (maybe a sign I go there too much and I am looking for some fresh garotas. I am afraid to take the escort route because although they look great online, I don't want to take my chances that they will have ugly faces. I have heard there are "booklets" you can see if the girl brings it or you go to the office but I don't feel like going through the trouble.

I am trying to get all the info I can because I will be there for a while starting a couple days from now. I appreciate in advance any help you can give. Promise to reward with photos and stories upon my return.

you can try termas you have not mentioned like 65, rio antigo, aeroporto and praia 400 in Barra de tijuca.
I don't think Rio is the right place to try escorts but Karla Models has good rep.
Talk to garotas in termas and ask about their amigas at school. Ask about colleagues if any has done modeling or porn. Ask about sisters and cousins. Tell the garotas you're a nice guy and will reward for iniciantes, will pay finders fees.
You can try the beach, once in a while you can find what you're looking for.
Check the girls walking on atlantica, if they are good looking odds are they are on the program.

4x4 is the best termas in Rio by far. Every time I went there the women are always great. Nice looking, with most having great big bundas and pretty faces to match. Monte Carlo is also great, but not as many women. I go there when I donīt want to go all the way to Centro.

everyone has their own opinion. here are my current rankings (as of when i left two weeks ago, i will be there again tomorrow morning so my opinion might change. remember also that i like light skinned women, blonde or brown hair, big breasts if possible, younger, and a large but not huge ass, imo, if you want darker girls, you can't beat 4x4 or help):

Anyway, this is according to my tastes and is somewhat consistent with what i see others posting on the board, it seems that some guys like 4x4 and luomo the best, and everyone thinks centaurus (mostly everyone) has hot women but management sux and the prices are high. I see 4x4 as a place filled with solid 7's, but very few 9's and 10's, in other words, no matter what type of girl you like, big ass, white, black, mulatto, big tits, short hair, long hair, etc. you will be able to find a girl who is a 7 or 8 in that category at 4x4 due to the large number of girls. help is a toss up, either you like it or you don't.

My current opinion - I concur on Centaurus, good eye candy but even if you're not getting clipped, you feel like you might if you're not careful.

Help/TA - very hit or miss, mostly miss these days.

Luomo - clearly going downhill and has been for about a year, with no signs of improvement. Too bad, Luomo used to be the tops and was a second home for many of us in the past.

4x4 - As SweetMesquite has said time and again, it's the Wal-Mart of termas - everything can be found there, at a good price, you just have to deal with the crowds and the occasional bad selection. It's just so inconsistent - some of my best terma runs have been there and also my two worst ones.

Monte Carlo - usually good eye candy but I'm never comfortable in this place. Service is real, real spotty, you have to negotiate BJs and stuff like that and the girls are pushy for drinks and whatnot.

I don't get it, all these trip reports have photos of hot garotas (many of whom are not from termas) and yet the consensus seems to be that outside of 4x4 you can no longer come across hotties. It sounds like a lot of the pictured Garotas are from Help, the beach, TA or MP...have they all gone to Europe?

Deeg -- That's a good rule of "thumb", but I think the problem might lie in the way you apply it when you have the beer goggles on.

You don't total the score from the weight side with the score from the age side and tag the woman if the TOTAL is 80 or less.

In other words you can't F*** another 25 year old that is 55 pounds overweight, or another 55 year old, that is "only" 25 pounds overweight.

I would rank 4x4 probably 3rd or 4th on the terma rankings for hotties. Centaurus, 65 and even Monte Carlo are consistantly higher on the hottie chart. Keep in mind, 4x4 will have 150+ garotas working by 5:00 PM, and that is why the Wal-Mart analogy is accurate. 4x4 has some of the nastiest beasts of any terma in Rio - but again, white gringo, black gringo, European and Brasilero tastes are all different. I'm a white gringo so I don't find six-foot bleach blondes who weigh 175 pounds to be attractive, but the Brasileros do.

ok, i have only been here one day but it is readily apparent to me that the girls here are very desperate. if you have some money now is a good time to be here (even though the exchange rate sux). i think it is a combination of the decline in the dollar and it being may here (the weather is awesome right now though) but the girls are very desperate. i have had three calls in the last 24 hours from girls who work at barbarella and are used to 400-500 per night calling me begging me to take them for the whole day for 250 or so(i had not spoken to these girls in four months either, and i did not tell them i was coming). another example, one really hot girl who works at centaurus stayed with me all day and night (and picked me up from the airport and drove me around) for 250 reais, she had to pay 200 to the house to not go to work (unless she comes up with a doctors note or something) and i was not good friends with her (but she is friends with my girlfriend who works there making it even less likely she would do it).

everyone i have talked to is thinking about going to sao paulo (not europe for some reason) and overall, it is a great buyers market. i was just here two weeks ago and i didn~t get the same feeling but i am loving it. btw, i took an aa flight here and it was only half capacity (the first time i have ever seen that) and on the connection from sao paulo to rio there were only about 10 people on the entire flight. also, i spoke to two hotels (atlantico and mar) and both said they are running at 20-40% lower occupancy than this time last year. if this keeps up i don~t know what the effect will be (more girls leaving, etc.) but for now things are good. another thing is that since i am here for 15 days i plan to have 2 or 3 different girls a day and get away from my usual crew of girls, being they are desperate i can probably get them to do a lot more (i.e. take pictures and movies where they may not have before) and as a result you all will benefit (whether headshots will be posted to be decided later).

hmmm... interesting. Maybe the exchange rate is scaring a lot of foriegn mongers away, rememeber that the real has strenghtened against the euro too. On the other hand, don't forget that for the vast majority of the GP's in Rio, the vast majority of their customers are brazilian. So what's keeping the brasileiros form spending? Only thing I can think of is that tax season has just ended, and since there ain't no such thing as a tax RETURN in Brazil, everyone has emptied out their "discretionary spending" piggy-bank to pay their taxes. Also, this is now fall-time in Brazil and one of the few times in the entire year when Brazilains actually get some work done, rather than go on vacation to Rio.

I agree with my friend Gr8ter who I had the pleasure of spending yesterday with at 4x4 (great guy). In my opinion Rio is very slow now so if you are planning a trip down here, now is the time. The weather is perfect and like my friend said the women are really looking hard for income $. Yesterday alone I had calls from 3 previous acquaintences wanting to spend time with me (yeah right!). I lined up a sweet little thing from 4x4 yesterday to come spend Saturday night with me and all day Sunday $200R. So guys yes the Dollar sucks big time but now it is a buyers market IMHO. - Hemp

What are the prices which you pay for in many of these Termas. I hear 150 to 400R. I am planning a trip to Rio and Fortaleza on August. By the way, has anyone been to Fortaleza and if so would you know what are the Termas of choice. I appreciate any information.

I will be returning to Rio in March after about a 2 year hiatus and have a short list of sexual excursions I want to accomplish ... Hey Jan, your best bet is just to hit as many as possible and half way into the trip, stick to the ones you had the best time.

Talent is very subjective and also comes and goes.

What's good one month isn't so good the next.

Everybodys taste is different. If its your first trip I would try to sample as many of the top tier ones as possible.

My favorites are:

Luomo because of the relaxed atmosphere and the generally high quality of the girls plus free food.

4x4 because its different than Luomo. Many more girls with a wider variety of shapes and sizes plus cheaper. The boite is crowded and loud.

You have two weeks so check out a bunch of them.

If you are staying in the zona sul then monte carlo and centaurus are convenient. I have had a blast at both.

Im not a big solarium fan but on any given day it may be great. Its a little less convenient to get to.

Been to 65 once but had a great time. This was well over 2 years ago though.

The best termas is the one you're in at the moment.

If you'll be in Rio for 2 weeks you'd be insane to focus on just one, or even two. With two weeks you are absolutely required to hit: L'uomo, Solarium, Monte Carlo, Quatro por Quatro, and Cancun. Optional, if you have money you feel a need to burn through: Centaraus and 65. If you want to a "completist:" Aeroporto and Rio Antigo.

Thanks for the responses. Definitely I want to explore more options. I am looking for a girls between 18-25 will slim body structure and many girls to select from. I looked at positive and negative comments about Centaurus, besides being expensive. Is the management still rude?

It's not so much that the management at Centaurus is rude. Some object to their policies with new customers of (1) higher charges for new foreigners; (2) assigning a girl to you when you walk in that you then have to ditch; and (3) making you pay in advance.

I'd say 4x4 and Luomo would be your best bet. Luomo is calmer and smaller whereas 4X4 has many more girls. I don't think you have a problem finding the age/body type you prefer at any of the termas.

When are you planning on being in Brasil?

Just go to a different termas each of the first 3-4 days and make your own decision. I would say 2 downtown, at least 2 in Zona Sul. 4x4 and 65 for Centro - the talent has been getting better and better at 65 the last six months or so. In Zona Sul, Luomo and either Monte Carlo or Solarium, probably Monte Carlo. I wouldn't worry so much about age, the vast majority of garotas in termas are under 28 or so, with the average being early 20s. As far as body style, every place will have a variety to choose from.

I am planning to be in Rio, the second week of March. I am really excited now!

Centaurus no longer assigns a girl to you when you come in...

With the prices at termas going thru the roof, it might be better to grab a hottie from TA , Help or Balcony , Pay them 2-300R for the day, bang the hell out of them, go to the beach, party it up at your apt, etc. I pulled 2 knockouts out of Mea Pataca around 11am, gave them each 150R, spent the rest of a rainy day drinking skols, grey goose and oj and having amazing sex . They did not leave till the next morning.

Cafe 400 could easily rank as a Top 3 termas. It is haul out to Barra, but if the timing is right there are some cute girls there. If a guy is in Rio for 2 weeks, I think that is a must. (No comment on Balcony bar, other than don't go there)

Cincoleche...I know what you mean about Balcony Bar. I haven't been there in over a year, but some friends of mine told me there is a new owner,( a gringo)and better quality gdp's. I do remember the favela rats that hang there and that's why i avoid it. but hey, some mongers that are staying on that end of Copa hit it with good results......Cafe 4000 sounds pretty good.

In my opinion if Cafe 400 was in Copacabana, it would get more business than any other termas in Zona Sul. I have seen as many as 40 girls there with usually 3-4 really cute ones. They don't see a lot of gringos, so they have the better attitude of sitting with a guy w/o being pushy.
The drinks are fairly reasonable, like 9R-12R. Staff is friendly and cabine rooms are on par with any other main termas.

The place is open late like 2:30am. Wednesday is the best night for whatever reason.
There was a gorgeous black girl the last time there and she was incredibly sexy. Quite a few more do not disappoint. Definitely worth checking out at least once a trip.

Cincoleche - I agree with you about Cafe 400. I went there for the first time in January and the talent was very good. I got there about 7:30 on a Thursday night and there were 20-25 girls and only one other guy in the whole place.

I have been there once and I must agree on 400 (I thought it was Praia 400). Too bad it's too far away to hit regularly.

You can be certain it's quite out of date. Termas Beach Girl has been closed for years, and Rio Antigo has been closed for about a year. There are many, many other inaccuracies. But there is some useful information to be found regarding locations and such.

what is "Termas Sol de Ipanema" on Barao da Torre- right in the middle of Ipanema?
does it still exist?

I think that's a gay bathhouse, there are a bunch of gay bars and termas and clubs in that area, near Esplanade Grill and some other really good restaurants. I googled the address and a bunch of listings on Brasilian gay sites popped up.

Do the same for some of the others on that list. It looks like the guy who put that list together either swings both ways or didn't know what he was doing when putting it together.

Termas Sol de Ipanema used to be called Termas Leblon and that was a gay terma.

Use the "In Search of Chicas" listing at your own risk. Anyone using that title to refer to girls in Brasil lacks credibility. All of the data are old and some of the termas, as mentioned above, would present the average CH member with quite a surprise. Caveat emptor.

Just make sure you stay away from any termas you might encounter on the internet with an address in Rua Farme de Amoedo in Ipanema :-)
