Anybody have any good information on any clubs on Ave Prado Junior. I'd be especially interested in Barbella's - is it strip club or what? I hear it has alot of good looking women (although pricy).

Barbarella is worth a look, although you have to be careful about your tab. The price seems to change from the time you go in and the time you leave. I was told the tab is R80 for three drinks. I left one night without anyone, too tired to screw, and they charged me R100. I talked to the head guy and he gave me a blank look like I was a trouble maker. I paid the R100 and left.

Now, the girls are really top-notch. They are better over-all than HELP. There is a small stage where girls dance top-less and I have seen some real beauties dancing on this satge. The main dance floor has all sizes and shapes dancing. Some of the girls wear nice cocktail dresses and appear to be up-scale. I have been told, however, that the girls from Barbarella move down to HELP if they are not getting any action. I have never seen any girls from Barbarella at HELP when I have been at HELP. The price seems to be about R200 for short-time. I'm sure it can be an all-nighter if both parties agree.

Anyway, it is worth a look and it always has top-notch girls.

I try to hit them all when I'm in the area. Barbarella is just fine. Last month the entrance fee was R40 which included two drinks. And yes, I have seen the girls here at Help afterwards. I have also seen a few Barbarella girls try to make some extra money early evenings at Meia Pataca.
However, I was surprised with the high quality women you will find at Frank's bar on Princesa Isabel. I was there twice on my last trip and it is only a R10 cover. I bought myself two drinks and one for a girl and it cost me R20 or R30. I'm sorry I forget which but it certainly beat the outrageous(relatively speaking) prices at Barbarella. I took a girl out there s/t for R100.

Help has a large ballroom that is dedicated to dancing and on most nights there are at least 200 people out there dancing on the dance floor. I get the impression that Barbarella's is a much smaller place with a few stages with girls dancing. But I'd appreciate a better description from anyone that has been there.

Barbarella is small. When you walk in you will see a dance floor on the right side of the room. It is surrounded by tables and chairs. There is a small stage on the left of the room. There is a large mirror behind this small stage. The lighting is really poor in this place. It is impossible to see a girl's face siiting in a booth 15 feet away.

The girls usually hang-out in groups and you have to make your move and talk to them. Sometimes they will come over and start a conversation, but these tend to be the less desireable girls. The real stunners have to be approached. Only about ten girls per night dance on the small stage. These girls are top-less and come in all skin types and sizes. The main dance floor is for everyone and the girls try to out do eachother. Lots of guys are also out there with their dates from the club.

It sounds like things are more expensive in Argentina so I'd find some place that you are comfortable hanging out in then talk to the women, use your charm, make 'em laugh, and wait until you find some woman that you are comfortable talking to and I'm sure that you will have a good time.

I like Costa Rica & there is plenty of good information here at ClubHombre about the CR scene. When I went to CR, I arrived at Krysis at 1pm, stop off at Idem's in the early evenings. If things went well at Idem's, I'd talk the woman that I meet there into coming back to the President. Otherwise I'd head for the Blue Marlin.

I think every destination has its advantages/disadvantages so I don't like to compare one place to another. But I know that you are familar with Rio. Personallly I'd go to Rio over Costa Rica. There seem to be a lot more options in terms of finding women. The women are more fun & less obsessed with $/time.

At this point, if I have enough time ie a full week, I'm going Rio. If I only had very limited amount vacation but needed some time off then I'd fly down to CR for a long weekend.

Julan's description of Barbarella is not quite accurate. It is a bit dark, but you can see faces a good 30 feet away, the girls do not dance topless except 1 at any given time on the back stack, where they aren't just topless, they are nude and oiled up.

The tables are low and narrow. They pack you in very tightly. The best tables up in front of the dance floor are reserved for parties of 4 or more.

The girls usually hang out by themselves, not in groups. You do not have to approach a girl. All you have to do is make extended eye-contact and they will be right over like they were hauled in on a tractor beam. There are usually 30-40 girls on any given night. Thursday night is the best night. Monday night is the worst.

There are VERY few less-than-desireable girls, if any. I've rarely seen anybody working there I'd rate below an 8, and I'm pretty picky.

Few men every come into this club with a date. It is essentially all single men customers. Once a guy makes eye contact with a girl, she will likely approach. She may ask permsission to sit down. If she does, she will act like your date until you tell her to leave, you leave, or let her know you aren't interested.

Cover charge is $R35. If you leave with a girl, you have to spend at least $R40 in drinks (2 ladies drinks), else you will be charged the difference. There is no beer sold here, only mixed drinks. There is no set price for the girls. Prices vary wildly. Girls will ask anywhere from R$150 for all night to R$600 for a couple hours.

You can order by the drink, or for double the price, they'll bring top shelf liquor over, leave the bottle, and provide you with mixers and a bucket of ice. You pay for whatever you drink and you pour your own drinks. The bottles have level markers that they read when they bring the bottle and when you are ready to leave.

I stopped in here last night. They stuck me in the back. The place is a little bigger than I imagined. Quality of girls is very high.

I’m sorry that I didn’t post a warning against trophy hunting at Barberella yesterday morning. You had just posted your intention to return so I figured that you were probably off line until too late. Barberella girls reportedly pay for the right to enter there. Tens can go days without an offer and are convinced that ignorant tourists will pay ridiculous amounts of money for no service by the bar’s management. Locals and Rio regulars go to play and see what is IMHO the best show in Rio (starts at about 1:00 am). From time to time I stop by to see the show and collect cell numbers. Once this resulted in two sisters tag-teaming living with me, very confusing and even more delightful.

I’m surprised that you didn’t mention checking out some places that I mentioned that are within three hundred paces of Barberella, Sunset, Chicciolina, Franks, or Doma, two blocks towards the beach.

I was there at Barbarella's last night. I must confirm it had an awesome lineup. My friend with a knockout who charged R200. I think that was a very reasonable price for the looks. I have yet to talk to him about her performance.
Frank's has very good quality girls and is a 40 yards away from Barbarella around the corner. Frank's had a girl in which all my friends agreed had one of the top ten asses in world history. Amazing!

I found Rio a very safe tourist place.
In the Lido area, you're looking at over 200 hotties between Barbarella, Doma and Franks.
Garotas all wanted my business when I came back the next night.
I would not take a Barbarella back to my hotel unless she kissed me in the bar.

I think to call Rio a safe place is oversimplifying; it certainly is no Disneyworld. There are 12 million people that live in Rio; many of them live in favelas/slums. There are about 120 favelas scattered around Rio. I would say Rio is pretty safe in the daytime if you stay away from the favelas. After dark (especially latenight), it can become very dangerous. There are gangs that wander out of the favelas that prey on the gringo tourists especially around Help and the Lido area. They carry BIG knivess. It might not be as dangerous as TJ but it still can be a very dangerous place. So don't carry any more money than you have to & be careful especially late at night.

Lofnlol - I ended up paying 250 reais for my girl. Which is maybe 50 reais more than you can get a gorgeous girl in Help for.

Athos - what do you feel the current price range is in Barbarella's?

Barberella and Franks are in a class by themselves, ninety percent of the girls are 8+. Barberella has a better show. Both enforce a two-drink minimum for both the guy and girl and rigorously charge a bar fine. Many girls at both think that tourists won’t blink at paying fees of up to three hundred dollars per night.

The same girls are often willing to while away the afternoon for less than a hundred if not free if they think that you’re a “live one.” Get cell numbers and give out your hotel room early in your trip. Remember that you can walk through any of these clubs for free, so do the grand tour before ordering your first drink.

Doma has been open for less than a year. They allow many girls who would not meet the standards of Barberella and Franks to enter. Nevertheless, there are plenty of 8+s. Their strip show is best because they do groups of three girls and you can be very close. The physical plant is currently the best.

Cicciolina allows girls who don’t “belong to the club” to float in and out. Many excellent girls and an equal number of woofers. Some great strippers. Two drink minimum enforced. Often crowded, but always worth a free visit.

Sunset is close by, but has few if any of the 8+ girls and no show at all. Prices are low and performance is optimal, an ex-pat hangout, my favorite place in the universe.

Contrary to other posts, I wouldn’t show up at any of these places before 11:00 PM and not at Sunset before 1:00 AM.

From my perspective, I like being first in line and frets if arriving late. 11:00 pm was perfect for me as I could see garotas coming to work and see how they behaved waiting for customers, did they have many amigas or were they just standing by themselves smoking. By 11:00 pm, bar is half empty, by 12:00 bar is full I'd say. On sun night, business can be very slow so maybe good deals available.
My feeling it is a buyer's market. I did overpay but that was my fault and lack of experience. By that I mean you should be able to get any garota at 200R, 250R if you must have her. Many hombres just come to get a drink so not many customers in there, believe me garotas knew I meant business.
Like Malandro implies, it is very easy to get garotas number to avoid future bar fines but this implies you are doing a repeat session which happened to me with only two garotas out of 18 in my trip.
A very pretty 9.0 quoted me 300R for all nighter and she would have gone to 200R. I believe hombre's behavior will dictate final price. As soon as I stopped drooling like an idiot, prices dropped down considerably.
Garotas are pirahnas and notice you in the dark. By second night, you become a regular and have high dinero value.
Never say you are on business, always you are on vacation, 14 days, 10 days left on trip.

I just got back from Rio yesterday. I went to Barbarella's and was not that impressed. I met a cute 21 year old garota who wanted 200 reals. I said O.K. even though all the other girls I had been with only asked for 150. She wanted to go to the hotel but I said it was early. Anyhow she got real jealous when another girl approached me. We went to Cicciolina's and she danced on stage for me and then disappeared. Another girl came up to me and started talking. Anyway that was the only negative experience I had for the whole week and a half that I was there. I never returned to Barbarella's. I suggest any of the other bars in that area. Holiday Disco, Frank's bar, Cicciolina's and the place next door were all good places for me with less overall numbers of garota's but without the hassle of paying an extra 50 reals for basically the same quality merchandise.

No you do not tip the nude garota as usually no one is paying attention to her. For the dressed garotas wanting your business, she is trying to get a customer so no tips there either, you can buy her a very expensive drink if you like but none of the garotas asked me for any drink as no ficha over there.
Usually as you are ready to leave, waiter will get you your check, leave him 1R. When you leave club and enter taxi, doorman expects also a Real. Once I gave 2R and the guy was overjoyed so 1R is enough.
If you like the nude dancer, wait till her set is over and she will come back in a few min dressed, so then make your move. If you need to have her, go to the banos after her set is over then just stand next to ladies locker to have the first grab. I don't like this approach as garota will know you like her, then much tougher to negotiate.

Price is the same for allnighter or short time, about 200R. If garota likes you, she might stay the night. Same thing for Help. Short time means 2 cumshots and no clock watching. Negotiating is expected except at termas where price is fixed.

From what I can make of things currently, and "encounter" (session) is R$100, an all-nighter is R$200. Of course, YMMV, but from what I am quoted and what others have told me, this seems to be the going rate.

The show that has been referred to is a 'Vegas-style' floor show where there are numerous people on the main dance floor that perform a Carnaval-type production. It is maybe 20 minutes or a half hour long when they have it.

The name Lido refers to sex shows. The one I saw on a sun night at 2:00 am, they had hired some performers with maybe 1 Barb garota joining in.
You don't go to Barb to see the variety sex show, you go there to check the lineup and maybe bring a garota home.

Finally made it there last night. Same as centaurus. Expensive but you are paying for the right to have access to some of the finest I have ever seen.
