Yeah.. its quite a bit much.. Barbarella is a "high end" place. It's really only high end because the girls ask for so much upfront hoping someone is stupid enough to pay it. Same thing happens at help though. I've been here over 2 years and I've never seen a girl go for 50.. I've seen 100 a few times, and the norm is 150-250..

I just wanted to post some pretty current info on barbarella. This was my first time going in and it was OK. It's worth to check it out around 11:00 and stay for an hour. 50 reals to enter includes 2 vodka drinks. The girls attitudes depends on you. If she likes you its cool if not it can be mechanical. I got a few numbers of the girls working there because you can call them for some daytime action and pay less. they all want too much money to take them out. Most wanted 300-350 reals plus you pay 50 reals for their 2 drinks plus your 50 to enter. You can get them for 250 if you work at it, but its better to go and scout a girl get her # and call her another day. This way you have some backup girls when its a rainy day. There were some younger, hot girls when i went. I would say about 3-4 were amazing.

Stopped by last night for first time in 4 trips. Saw some girls from 2 years ago, selection in the 6 range. 2 or 3 cute ones, most look hard core except for 1 Danieli, looks 18 but is 22, saving for college, will be here for a few more months before returning to Minas. Good to see you posting pics of women for a change

I can attest to one thing; The girls are not lying about it being slow here and many are probably starving or business.

OK, so here's a story to go along with these pictures. It's one of the reasons why I love hanging out with these girls so much!

I met Sabryna on my 1st trip to Rio and she was the 1st girl I ever pulled out of Help. I was on an 8 night stay, and didn't go into Help until my 3rd night. I had been going crazy hitting Termas in the afternoon/evening, calling karlas/company girl/ciaplus during the day. So this is where the story becomes the story. On the next day, I'm back to normal ordering in and going to termas during the day.

90% of the garotas will never ask for money upfront. The ones that did were much like you described -- dead fish or trouble. Best policy is to kick a girl out of the apartment immediately if she asks for money first. Open the door, throw her 20R for a taxi and move on.

I had been in Rio many times, but never visited Barbs because of all the negative feedback. I got bored on raining Wednesday night and decided to give it a shot and form my own opinion of the place.

I went there with a completely open-mind and no real intention of seriously taking a girl out. It is 60R for entrance and 2 included drinks. I decided I wasnt going to drink and give them to the girls if I like them.

I first got there about 10:30pm and some girls were still arriving. The doorman said it was okay to just check it out inside w/o any obligation. I looked in and saw what appeared to be about 35 girls and a handful of guys. I gave the doorman the thumbs up and decided to give it a try. A waiter escorted me over to the small stage where girls peform a topless dances on the pool. I recommend this area as you can chat to the girls dancing and also look at the large stage where girls show themselves off.

Being alone in this place is not a great idea. I was quickly cornered by 2 good-looking garotas. They were solid 8's. One used to work at Centarus, the other was a professional Barb's girl working there for 1 1/2 years. I was quoted 400R by both, at which I laughed. I got the one girl down to 300R, but I wasn't going to pay 300R for 1 hour or so worth of sex. I dismissed them in about 30 minutes.
The next one was a cute 19yo girl from Belo Horizonte. She was very cute. I decided to use my drink on her. She stuck around for 1+ hour w/o me hinting whatsoever I wanted to take her out. At 1am, I had another girl. Fairly close to a 8, maybe a 7.5. She was 26, a regular there. Nice personality. I used my 2nd drink on her. After some small talk, I got her down to 200R for multiple hours. But, then it was her turn to go dance and after seeing her soft stomach I neglected her when she returned. I asked her if she had a kid and she said yes, a 3 yo.

At 2am, there was a decent Samba show on the mainstage. There are strippers that put on individual acts as well. This last an entire hour. At 3am, more than the girls were still available.

I approached the stunner in the house. She was still available and I was wondering why. The girl quoted an amazing 500R for 1 hr of sex at 3am. She would not come down. She said 500R is her rate and the best she would do would be 2 hours. This girl was a solid 9. 5'8, long legs and beautiful face. This was $300 for a girl that could probably land in a magazine. I seriously considered it, but the deal breaker was she would not allow photos. Sorry, but for 500R I want pictures. Anyway, I got her number and she said she was available at that rate. I ended up just talking with her until the place closed at 4am. I thought she would come down, but no such luck.

When it closed, I went across the street to Noguiera. The place opens at 4am and has some live music. A couple girls from Barb's came over and I smiled at them, but I was too tired to even bother propositioning them.

Myself and a friend of mine went back there a few nights later. He pulled a girl out for 300R. I only stuck around for a couple of hours. Again girls starting at 400R, but quickly coming down to 300R.

To take a girl out it is 60R for her. 60R or more for yourself. Plus whatever you negotiate with the girl. I don't have such a negative opinion of Barb's. The drinks are normal sized drinks. The girls are fairly attractive who dance on the pole stage. And I wasn't ripped off in any way.

The vibe I got from the girls though wasn't all that special. The going rate for something pretty good was 300-400R and this was pretty much sex until you popped (like 1hr). The hotter girls all had silicone breasts which I hate. Some girls tits were disgustingly large.

I would go back to Barb's again. In my experience, it was pretty tough getting girls down to 200R. I can pay that for some outcall termas garotas who are proven performers. So, it is tough for me to raise the bar above that. Still, it is alright place to hang out on a mid-week night. The overall talent definitely exceeds Help.

The one girl reminded me of very hot girls in Centaurus 4 years ago. For a minimum of 500R, that is too much to pay for a brasilian girl.

I can't bash Barb's like everyone else has. I would probably go back once every trip just to see if I can find the right balance between hottness factor( a 8.5+) and price (300R). Factoring in the entrance, that is still 420R so relatively close to just going to Centaurus.

The most I ever paid a brasilian girl was 400R for 2hrs. That was last year during Carnaval and she was a legit model. Going above this amount for a brasilian puta has me seriously wondering why I went to Rio in the first place. Not going to happen.

I like the fact that you strung out 2 drinks over the course of 5 1/2 hours. And you didn't even drink one. That's hard to do man, but I like it. ;) Some guys go in those places and buy those 15 and 20 Reais drinks because they have more money than brains. Some don't have either, they just do it anyway.

Nice reporting, Cincoleche. I have been going to Rio since 2002 off and on. Only went to Barbarella's twice and my assessment is pretty much like yours (except my visits are at least 3 years old) Definitely hot girls there. The fact that it is dark as hell in there make it hard to see exactly what you are getting. Depending on the girl, I have no problem paying a high price if that girl can only be found there. But Copa has so many other options and the fact girls may jack up the price just when they are in Barbarella's make it hard to consider it a destination. If I had a wingman or two, I may poke my head in there when I get to Rio in late August. It CAN make a fun 'Guys Night Out'.

BTW, didn't the overzealous waiters keep bugging you to buy drinks? How did you keep them at bay? If it was a busy night, I doubt they would let you keep your table for that long without partaking.

Thanks for an update on Barbarella's. For several reasons the place has never done much for me. In four trips there I never pulled a girl because the asking price was always out of line with the market price elsewhere in town. The hot girls in Barbarella's were always asking for at least R$100 more than similar girls elsewhere. So it was hard to justify on price grounds. I did have problems with waiters that verged on harassment. And my last point is somewhat irrational, I realize, but it's hard to get over it. The only HIV+ GP I have ever met (and knew that she was HIV+) worked at Barbarella's. She was a close friend of a GP friend of mine who worked out of Help. This girl worked at Barbarella's for at least 18 months after finding out she was HIV+. I pushed he hard on the wisdom of doing so, but she always said she insisted on condoms for everything, so "no one will get sick." Not very comforting to my way of thinking. I realize this might go on in many similar bars, and is a risk one takes with freelancers, but it still cast a pall over Barbarella's in my mind.

And given the added fees (buying her out, entrance fee, any additional drinks, etc.) it just gets hard to justify the price. Comparing the place to Centaurus is not comforting! Even these days I have no problem pulling termas girls in their off hours/days for 200-250 for between 3 hrs and all day/night. So for the price of 2 hours with a B girl, I can get two overnighters with girls from most of the termas. If hanging at Barbarella's was lots and lots of fun that might be different, but the place is nothing special, and the intensity of the interaction with the girls while in the bar is rather limited, unlike most of the termas. I have always gotten the sense from talking with B girls that the ones who choose to work there do so in part because they know that (1) the standard is that girls there only do 1-2 hours programs, and (2) they get top money for less work.

So...thanks for the update, but I'll probably continue to pass.

Here is the thing about Barb's. If you go there without being needy for sex, then it can be fun. Most guys here are already familiar with the downtown termas. The Barbs girls as differing from the termas garotas automatically assume you are 1.) A newbie tourist never venturing out of Copa 2.) Only there for a week or so, whether business or pleasure and 3.) Have money to waste.

Therefore, there is no real incentive for a Barb's girl to provide good service and get repeat business. If she was hot and provided good service, she wouldn't be there. She'd have enough wealthy brasilian clients calling her.

Still, I would say the girls who are dancing are quite attractive. None were ugly at all. For 60R, it is equivalent to an US strip club with the added benefit that you could actually take any one of the girls out of there for a price.

The night I went, it was completely disproportionate number of girls to guys. Easily 3:1 ratio. With at least 1/2 the girls going home empty handed. I stood my ground with the drinks. I made it clear to all the girls I wasnt some newbie tourist and spoke to all the girls in Portuguese. If they wanted to switch over to English, I continued talking in Portuguese.

I had fun at Barb's. It beats going to Help in my opninion if you are bored on a weekday night. And I would probably stop in once a trip just for the helluva it. Even though, for 60R I know I can enter any termas or better yet have 1/2 hour sex with an apartment girl.

Like I said, if I could have gotten that "9" for 400R for 2 hours and photos, I may have went for it. It would be fun to get a photo for nothing else as a trophy-fuck.

BTW, the friend who took the girl out for 300R was satisified with her. He said it was BBBJ, kissing and decent sex. Total time was like 1 1/2 hr with her. She wasn't my type, but she was his and that is what matters.

i was at Barb's in may for the first time. i went with my Bahian beauty and another couple just so they could show me the place. my opinion is that it reminds me of a mafia bust out place in Queens NY. The girls were pretty nice, but for all the bullshit expenses and the waiters hounding you, i would never go back again. there are just so many better options . i think Barbs would be an excellent live music club. it reminds me of the Bottom Line in in NYC

My opinion on Barbarela and Lido in general has changed a lot over the last few years. I had an apartment 4 blocks from there a few years back and even though it's a bit grungier than other parts of Copa, Lido is bar far the safest neighborhood. You can walk around at night unmolested, no touts, no muggers, etc. Also, the prices down there are the same as 5 years ago. What was prohibitively expensive back then - when you could get into Help for R$15 - isn't much more expensive now, with Help costing R$35 and the favela rats inside asking for about the same as Barbarela garotas. Also, while years ago the waiters constantly tried to scam you, in the three visits I've made to Barbarela in the last 9 months, I've had no issues at all. Just speak Portugues and make it known that you know your way around and they'll be pretty cool to you.

The garotas are certainly uptight - I pinched one garota's bunda when she walked by me and she threw a fit. But, when you start interviewing them and let them know what's up, they chill quickly.

My long-time ex-namorada was a Barbarela garota 5 years ago. My current favorita is one I met there in November. Both report the same thing - it's pretty rare to get a gringo in there who knows shit about mongering, they're actually pretty happy when a non-idiot does sit down so they can actually have a conversation and scope us out. Barbarela certainly does have lookers, although while the garotas there think it's the Rio version of Cafe Foto, we all know that to be bullshit. Not even close, even on a good day, but it is a place where, for just a few bucks more than Help, you can view some really good eye candy and have a decent time.

I wouldn't want to get drunk there - no R$3.00 beers on that menu that I'm aware of - but for a few hours, as a change of pace, it's not bad.

If I recall correctly the #1 reason why I did not like Barbarela - They did not sell beer of any type. Not sure if that has changed.

During my almost 2 year stint of living in Rio, I only went to Barbs 1 time and that was reluctantly.

A well heeled friend visiting Rio for the first time insisted he wanted to go. I told him only if he would pay my cover cause I wasn't about to pay it. He agreed!

He spoke absolutely zero Portuguese so it was up to me to translate for him.

He fell into lust almost immediately with about 6-8 girls in there and started talking about taking all of them back to his place. I quickly talked him out of doing so. He reported the session was kinda soso but the trophy fuck was worth it. We visited an ATM the next day and he paid me back what he had borrowed.

We went to 4X4, 65 and Luomo the following day; Solarium, MC and even Centaurus the next day. As I recall, he sessioned in almost everyone of them. Thank god he did not ask to return to Barbs.

I think Barbs offers one thing and one thing only. The fantasy of going home with a stripper. Barbs is set up just like a US strip joint but with a dance floor upfront for the girls and a few drunk guys. I am surprised they dont have lapdances. I know-no lapdancing in Rio but I could definitely see it happening in this place. I did not go my last trip to Barbs. I usually go and checkout the scene. I think it has to do with my first trip to Brasil. I sessioned with a true 9.5 and she did not disappoint. I'm always looking to repeat that experience but it hasnt happened there again. rsrsrs. I can't say Barbs is a good bet for most guys with access to this site. Most of the attractive ones do strip on the little stage though, so if you like one just ask her if she is "dancing". They do dance with just a tiny thong.

Why would they go to Help when they can just go back to B? Termas garotas who need some extra cash might go to Help at 2:00 AM when the termas close, but I doubt you will find any B girls in there. They have their own place to go where they don't have to pay entry and will get a lot more for a program for a lot less hassle than Help.

I know they don't go to Help, and quite a few will drop in to other Lido spots if they didn't get a program. They have to stay at B until 4:00 AM (or whatever time) or they have to pay the cover. In the old days, you could go to La Cicc around 4:00 AM and the place would be packed with talent. Not sure these days.

I went into La Cicc back in November for the first time in 5 years. No talent really to speak of, I left around 1:30 and the place was half empty. One of the girls says it doesn't get busy "til later". I guess 1:30 is just my definition of later.

Hey - when you get to be my age, 1:30 AM IS later. I think I'm gonna employ a new strategy when I come to Rio on business. Get an early dinner and go to sleep from 8:00 PM - midnight. Then go out and get some fun. If I sleep from 7:00 AM - 9:00 AM I can still make a 10:00 AM meeting!

I don't think majority of Barbs girls would go to Help, the consensus there is that they believe they are "worth 400R". The clientele there would generally not go to Help as well.
There are certainly girls there that are there literally every night, but much less so than you would find at Help. Instead, I think the Barbs girls do like 3-4 nights a week.
I have seen a number of them head over to Noguiera after the shift if they don't program.

Anyway, I think as long as the girl is not a die-hard pro she will go for 200/250R and will probably spend at least 2 hours or the night.

If you can control your drinking and can negotiate, then Barbs is not that bad of a place. The best thing to do is get a girl's number if you are interested in her. If she agrees, then it will mostly be cheaper and I would rather be having sex in the day rather than when I am tired after a night of drinking.

Yeah, the prices for the garotas isn't really much higher than Help. 250-300 should get the job done. The problem is the 60 entry for you and then the 60 entry for her. But, I have found the garotas are pretty good at giving up numbers. They know the deal, so unless you absolutely have to get a fuck in that night (or at least before 4:00 AM release), get numbers and get gone.

Flying in from LA (at least in winter when the two time adjustments maximally diverge) I don't have to adjust myself to jet lag. My normal LA bedtime is midnight, same as my normal Rio bedtime of 6 AM. (Other times of year, it's either a four- or five- hour difference.) Of course, hopefully, that's bedtime after hours of bedroom play, not to accommodate looking for talent at 4 AM.
