I lived in Curitiba for 4 months back in 99 and its a great city to visit. VERY clean and modern, nice bus sytem and nice downtown area. I just spent 3 days in Curitiba and made 2 visits to the Sauna Imperial. Although overall the facility is not quite as luxurious as the thermas in Rio (except the rooms were better with bigger beds), the service was excellent. The girls seem a bit less jaded and although the overall beauty is not quite as high as Rio, stunners are readily available. Imperial is located at 3571 Av.Visc.Guarapuava.

The yellow pages have about a dozen saunas listed. A rose by any other name is still a rose and the saunas are the same as the Rio termas, though prices are a little lower. Imperial had a $R15 drink minimun, with 45 minutes with a queen going for $R95. Use of the saunas was $R15 and an hour of excellent non-sexual massage was $R20.

I also checked out 2 other saunas (Real and Executive) and took a pass on both due to the lack of quality in both the facility and girls.

I received several reccommendations for the Cafe de Veras that touted the high quality of the talent but did not do any of the late night scene.

Just returned from a month in Brazil, and Curitiba was one of my stops. First of all, Curitiba is a bigger city than I thought, and things are spread out. I had a great dinner in the Italian section, Santa Caterina, I think is the name. It's in the northwest corner. Anyway, the next night I felt I needed to satisfy my depraved cravings, and went to a club I remembered from another website. It was called Casa Nova. I asked a cab driver, and he knew right where it was. Good thing, too, because if I had to go look for it, I never would have found it.
It's in a converted house set behind walls that obscure it from the street. You pull in to a gravel parking area, and enter through a long walkway. Once inside, you go upstairs to a cramped dance area. It's filled, or as filled as such a small space can be, with girls or all ethnic types. I was immediately cornered by a chubby black girl who showed me around. After seeing the facilities: club area and bar upstairs, bedrooms in an adjoining building, I detached myself and chatted up a brunette with a sullen expression. We agreed on a price, something reasonable like $30 for 45 minutes, and went to a room. We stripped and showered together. She immediately French kissed me and we washed each other, then went into the other area where a couch and bed combination did the duty as our fuck spot. IŽll have to check my notes for exact addresses of places in Curitiba. But most taxi drivers know where every place is. Except for Photo and Sahara which are brand new.

Curitiba is a nice place to monger. Is it worth the extra travel? I say fantastic if you go on business, I say no if you go on hobby trip. Couple of notches below Sampa and Rio. Was disappointed in hardcore pros attitude. Still plenty of boates but action is good only Tues through Thu so if you stay those 3 nights you probably won't have time to hit all the clubs. I got good vibes at new Cafe Photo, Casa Nova but both have limited lineup so it's hit and miss. Hard core at Crystal but same service than in termas. Best for me was new Sahara, mix of young
and hardcore. Never made it to Lido or Sexy but Metro has solid lineup but very hardcore, too bad.
Day time is very limited. Escort site Classisex was highly recommended but do not expect anything better than a 7 to show up at your door. Still good deal at 150R while at boates you're looking at 300R with entrance and bar fine. Sauna Imperial had weak lineup in the 4 to 5 range but sex was so exceptional I highly recommend the damn place, 110R total, you're looking at 85R for program. I recommend Curitiba only if you have plenty of time in your hands and need a break from Sampa/Rio circuit. City is not that attractive and way too much taxi rides. City is dead at night except for mongers going from boates to boates.

Yeah, southern girls have a reputation for being cold in bed, but that's balone, IMHO. The're about the same as all the other brasileiras. I've always observed that economic class is the biggest factor in behaviour in S.A. - i.e. a rich girl is more apt to be "bitchy" wether in Recife, Poroto ALegre, Rio or wherever. Could just be my prejudices, but there you go. Since the south is generally more affluent than Rio and northwards, that explains why the girls are "snobby", timid, cold, etc.

Be that as it may, personally I have a lovehate relationship with Curitiba. THecity is clen, well-ordered, organized, etc - it feels like your not even in Brazil! What's with that?!? ACtaully, it has a great bar scene, nightlife, great micro-breweries (ah, the german in me always spots the biersteubels).... non-mongering scene. The Parana coastline has some great little jewels to visit - Ilha do Mel, Antoinina, etc. I don't really know the mongering scene (beyond what's reported in FSD) at all - I actually lived in Curitiba for a few months, but I spent the whole time wrapped up in a beautiful Lebanese-Italian brunette (who's also my third cousin twice removed, or something like that - don't ask!). The other times I spent in town were just a quick weekend on business, too busy to screw around . However, Athos is about to give us all a full report in his "Brazil-South" trip report (Dammit, hurry up and write! Chinoca maldito!). Privately, he gave me mixed reviews of town - good but as usual all the real talent goes straight to Sampa (it's only an 8 hour bus trip).

Very funny.. actually we do once in a blue moon have good surf down at the Jersey shore (an hour away), but only after a winter storm (LONGsuit time!) or the occasional hurricane passing by. The rest of the time it's 3-foot mush.

Ab is right. Get your stick on over to Praia da Joquina (locally pronounced Joqua-"DJAWE-ka"), surf for a bit and you're sure to hook up with some locals who will take you to all the best spots. It's probably worth renting a car in Floripa, beware that the island is a real pain in the butt to navigate around on, so get a good map! But you'll get to all teh best beaches without having to deal with the bus (taxi will bankrupt you!). You'll need local knowledge to hit the beaches further up and down the island (Joqua is in the middle, Mole which is also great, is the next beach north). Not that they are hard to find, but conditions depend a LOT on wind. For instance, the last beach south (Matinhos) has fantastic tubes - but only on a sustained south wind. Fortunately, you're going in winter, so south wind is the norm (as are high waves).

BTW, the lakeside bars on the way to Joqua are THE place to hook up with local chicks

THere is no large population of Japanese in Curitiba that I know of - they are mostly in Sao Paulo and the rural areas south and west of the city. The large immigrant populations in Curitiba are: Polish (tons of Polish - Pope John Paul gave a mass in Polish there, the only Polish-language mas he ever gave outside of Poland itself), German, Italian, Lebanese, and Ukranian. In other words, the usual southern Brazilian mix.

Anyway, Curitiba, Floripa, and POA are completely different cities. Floripa is a tiny little provincial capital, except for the fact that is has good beaches in the summer, there's nothing there. POA is a small megapolis - 2.5 million people in city limits another 2 in the metro region. It's very cultured, cosmopolitan, liberal. Curitiba, although it is well-run and clean, is a bit smaller than POA and is still somewhat conservative and rural. And all three cities, from the mongering point of view, suffer from being relatively close to Sao Paulo (especially Curitiba, which is only 6 hours away), so that all the best talent goes straight to Sampa. As for the beuaty of the average girl, I'm of course biased towards POA, but honestly I think it's about all the same.
