this was my first trip to rio so I tried a little of everything. I was there may 25 to june 2. I decided to try solarium as my first terma due to all the advice seen at this forum. I must admit I was pleasantly surprised as I entered the Boite at 5:30 on a Tuesday afternoon. I scanned the room and saw about 30 garotas and only two guys other than me. they were both brasileros. It was overwhelming. all the girls were starring at me and it made me even more excited to be there. one tall one at the bar gave me a look I couldn't say no to. after 10 minutes of conversation and a chopp she reeled me in for a kiss and it was one I shall never forget. she was the one. I decided to go for the one hour in a suite. we talked a little about what we liked in bed and headed there pronto. let's just say she touched everypart of my body in that hour. no pictures of her unfortunately. I tried to get with her at the beach but we miscommunicated and didn't meet up at Ipanema the next day. she said she wanted to cook for me and I believed her.who knows, probably BS. The next day I took two amigos and it turned out to be swingers night and only half the girls were in the boite. I was still able to find two girls very appealing to me for a little two on one fastbreak. one of the girls was great the other turned out to be so-so. we used a cabina for 40 minutes. my conclusion was it was more fun to be with the right girl for an hour in a suite. the cabinas are very small and unattractive to me. a bit of a turn off actually.

nine days would have been great just at solarium I think. actually I only visited solarium two times. I visited Barbarellas, Help, Meia Petaica. also I went to Rio Sul mall. tried several local places (By Marius in el centro, Noth in barra de tijuca, Baronecci in Ipanema)each place has it's hot night so it was a little difficult to pick and choose at times. solarium was really the most relaxing place I went to.after solarium the best thing I saw in Rio was the view from Corcovado.

One thing worth mentioning about Solarium is the increased entrance fee on wed and sun, 80R instead of regular 50R I believe. So not cheap if you don't go to cabin on those days.
One garota mentioned busiest days were wed and thu during the week and sat during weekend, fri as particularly not busy. Must be real slow day as on the mon I went, there were so few hombres, garotas were bored stiff.

Historically, Solarium has varied their cover charges based on numerous factors (in general, it is related to if it is a "swinger" night or not). In general, when they charge a higher entrance fee they also decrease the price of the room. So unless you are a swinger or a guy that can't make his mind up, the cover charge price variations are really meaningless. If go to the cabine with a garota the price is consistent anyday of the week (at least historically).

If ones only goal is to drop into a termas for a drink, pay the cover, have a couple drinks then head on down the road (without a trip to the cabine), then the only termas with a "free-bee" cover charge is 4x4. I think that their cover is still 20reais; all the other termas entrance fees are higher. but the termas with the higher entrance fees, tend to charge less for the rooms.

Dood and I spent 7 hours in this place last night...not up to 4x4 specs but nice change from the packed party at 4x4 on friday...I think I know why they have only one hot shower here...it is actually the best hot water supply/pressure I have experienced in Rio...all the other use use the pessureator gizmo...just my thought..

You know there is a show in the suite if having to wait 2 minutes for the hot shower is such a problem. There is only 1 suite so it can be a bit of a wait so ask your girl to check on the wait time.

My last day in Rio, I went to Solarium and got an upgraded to 1 hour in the suite. Vanessa and Babi. Babi is one of the girls on the video monitor as you walk in. The girls were fantastic, and so was the video.

I agree with Layne87. Solarium is no 4x4 but it is a great more relaxed change of place.

No sauna but there is a jacuzzi and shower. Yes every garota has several condoms in her bag so if chemistry is right, you can shoot as many times as you wish whether 40 or 60 min.
First you pick or you accept being picked by a garota, you're in the club sitting on a couch by then. Procedure is garota will french you to get the deal, after she will ask you if you want to go to the cabin or suite, some garotas will ask within 5 min, some will ask after 45 min. Sorry to be naive, but are drugs a big problem in Rio, more so than in TJ? My buddy said your were fine as long as you stayed away from the slums. Technically you are not allowed to bring camera inside terma as privacy is important to customers, ladies and establishment.
You cannot openly wing your camera.
The best way to go is to leave your camera in the locker. When you pick a garota, mention you have a camera so she needs to agree to take photos with you before heading to cabin.
While garota leaves you to change into lingerie, use that time to go downstairs to retrieve your camera. Hide it in robe pocket which is small so carry a regular to small size camera.
After session, go back to locker to store camera.
I have never been turned down so far to take photos at termas.

It is technically not allowed to take pics inside terma so hiding camera is recommended.
Typically pick up your camera before going to session so camera needs to fit inside a small robe pocket.
If you get caught, just put your camera back inside the locker. I doubt they would condiscate it, just play dumb.
I believe the mini dv should fit the pocket.

They will not confiscate the camera, because I have been busted once, and I know others. But I have only been busted once and I have probably taken at least 30 videos at this point. Just use common sense, and there should not be a problem.
