It is kind of hard to find for the first timer. My first time I took a cab and when I got to the second floor I showed a piece of paper with the name on it and someone pointed where it was.
You could of wrote the name on it on a piece of paper and when you got to the mall or the second floor of the mall you could of showed it to someone and more than likely he would of steered you in the right direction. I'm thinking you were just sightseeing and wasn't planning on getting laid. If you were real horny you would of found a way to find it.

Thanks guys, I'm pretty sure I'll find it next time when I'm in Rio :-).

If you stand across the street from the mall on Suqueira Campos and look up at the second flloor, you can see the colored neon lights of L'Uomo when it's open -- can't miss at night.

The first time I went back to Luomo by myself, I went upstairs and walked all around that mall until I found it. Never give up when it comes to Luomo....

My taxi driver didn't know where the place was either. He dropped me off several blocks away. I walked along the area in front of the mall trying to find a street number. The description I had was that it was an old antiques mall. Somehow I expected something that looked, well, old. Not an interior shopping center with wide corredors and lots of little stores that were closing down for the day. From the street there was no indication of what this place was although once I found Luomas I could look down as see where I had been standing.
Eventually I ended up inside the mall and walked around for a while. All it took was asking someone but that would have been too easy. One of the mall workers knew exactly where I wanted to go and sent me up some escalators. The first place I saw was a religious service going on and rows of closed businesses. A little exploring led me to the outside where I saw the bright neon sign.
This is probably a place for a plug for one of the Rio guide people. Don had invited me to tag along earlier in the day with his group but I felt guilty since they were paying him and I was just someone picking up crumbs from the next table. I ran into all of them once I got there and Don showed me a few things. Again, he offered to take me with them when they all left for their next spot but I wanted to see the area that I was in. I could have saved myself the extra time in the taxi, the hassles of wandering up and down the street looking for a place that didn't look anything like what my "cheat sheet" said, and the long walk home since the area I passed through was a total bore.

Went to Luomo last night. It was a Sunday night, and I could not believe how busy the place was. Although there were lots of hombres there, plenty of good talent available. At times the wait for cabines was lengthy.
Two great sessions later, I left feeling very pleased with the selection.
Heading downtown today.

For a newbie you seem to know the place awefully well...thanks for update..do you like spinners?...there used to be a great one downtown...forgot her name but hell everyone on the board but me was with her...let me know if she is still there because I would really like to see her..

Anyone have any experiences, (good or bad) with Patricia or Telma at L'Uomo ?
By Xenono on Wednesday, September 10, 2003 - 03:23 pm: Edit |
Is Patricia one of the dancers in the show? She has braces and big tits and long dark black hair?
I think I did this chick, but I am out of town right now and can't verify without my notes. The other identifying mark is a tattoo to the left of her navel.

Xenono,
Sounds like the girl you are describing is Michelle. But, I haven't been in 4 months, just about forgotten everything about Rio.

Patricia wears a red outfit sometimes. No braces. Speaks some English. Thin, natural boobs.
Telma is a tall girl, dark hair, natural boobs, big ass.

Soprano, do you mean Patricia the bleach blonde? She can also be scene occasionaly at TA after Luomo closes, either meeting a guy who she did earlier in the terma or just working the tables.
By Soprano on Thursday, September 11, 2003 - 10:37 pm: Edit |
I do not remember about the hair color, but I think you are right about going to TA after work. Usually with this Telma girl as well.

the taxi driver is dumb, because if he delivered you to L'Uomo he could make R$20 commission.
I am sure Don would make R$ 20 commission for bringing you. (Even I already got that commission, so I can confirm it actually gets paid to guides and taxi drivers.)
The commission does not, in any way, increase the visitor's charges. It reduces the profit of the termas.
So if you asked several taxi drivers, you probably would find one to take you there.
By Hemp on Sunday, September 14, 2003 - 04:37 pm: Edit |
Brazil Specialist - From now on why don't you leave Don's name out of your posts. Thanks - Hemp
By Brazil_Specialist on Monday, September 15, 2003 - 02:31 am: Edit |
Hemp, I have no fights with Don. On the contrary, some of Don's fans seem to have problems with me. But please let us stop this topic here so it does not become another flame war.
This was not a senseless diatribe against Don. I did not attack Don. I just gave a piece of objective information, a comment regarding a prior post by Tight_Fit.
My aim was the incompetent taxi driver, not Don. I know termas L'Uomo is very hard to find, especially if one is shy to ask people on the street for directions to the whore house.
Tight_fit mentioned he was shy to go with Don to the termas without paying.
I just mentioned the commission so he would understand that he would not just be a free rider, but that Don would probably profit from his presence at the terma entrance.
I don't know if he should have gone with Don's group, if he did not want to pay to Don. Or if he was right to go alone, to not join as a non-paying guest, and go through all that trouble searching for L'Uomo termas. I have talked to other people who hung out with Don's group without pay, even loaning a cell phone and Don refusing to receive rent on the cell phone.
Maybe you, with your personal knowledge of Don, can advise the readers what Tight_Fit should have done in this case.
Other then that, please make sure this does not start a flame war.
Love and Peace!!!!

Have not tried this since I just thought about it, but has anyone thought about getting the taxi drivers to give you a free ride to the terma in exchange for the commission they get for taking you to a place you already know.
Example conversation with taxi driver,
"you can take me at no charge to terma Monte Carlo and they will pay you a R20 commission or you can take me to the hotel next to it and I will pay the R4 fare on the meter." I am not one
that gives a shit either way as to who gets paid a commission as it doesn't cost me any more or less if they do, but for those trying to save a few bucks it seems like this would work.
By SOG on Monday, September 15, 2003 - 09:43 am: Edit |
Costaricardo, it works. I do it all the time.
By Laguy on Monday, September 15, 2003 - 10:52 am: Edit |
SOG (or anyone else): Which termas does this work at? What I am asking is which one's pay a taxi commission? TIA
By SOG on Monday, September 15, 2003 - 12:13 pm: Edit |
It works if you want to go to Luomo, Rio Antigo, Monte Carlo. Sometimes 4x4 (I think they pay taxi drivers R$5), and always 65. It will work at Centaurus but the difference is that you pay the R$20 extra if you take a taxi. So you are better off taking a taxi to a nearby cross street and walkign to Centaurus yourself. Tell them you didnt take a taxi and you wont have to pay the R$20.
There may be others, if anyone knows--please post.

Thanks for the info SOG. Anyone know about Solarium? I suspect Solarium gives a taxi commission because I once had a taxi driver get out of his taxi after dropping me off to "talk" to the people out front.
By SOG on Monday, September 15, 2003 - 07:34 pm: Edit |
Solarium too. Yea, they will take you there for free as well.
By Theloner on Tuesday, September 16, 2003 - 12:32 pm: Edit |
A couple of questions. How do you say commission in portuguese? Can the taxis drop you off right in front of 4x4 or 65? Whenever I went to those two termas, the taxi always dropped me off on Rio Branco.
By Bwana_dik on Tuesday, September 16, 2003 - 04:11 pm: Edit |
The taxis can drop you off in front of 4X4 and 65, but if you remember, those two streets are narrow one lane streets (really, more like alleys) and are always packed bumper-to-bumper with traffic. Cab drivers don't like getting caught in the jams on those streets, and they wouldn't be able to get out of their cabs to collect the commission without blocking traffic completely, which is a capital offense in Centro.
The word for commission is comissao.

Is Lohani, still around at Luomo's?
Or the rough looking mid-30's brunette who still maintains her big ass for her age.
I think she moonlights at 4X4 2-3 days a week.

I know of one Lohani, formerly of Luomo, that has retired. Probably temporarily though. She has some dummies paying for her retirement right now though.
By soccer on Wednesday, September 17, 2003 - 09:36 am: Edit |
Lohani married an American. Luiza married a German. Poor guy, I wonder if he knew her well. She was periodically suspended for having (physical--not verbal) fights with other garotas.
By Aldaron on Wednesday, September 17, 2003 - 01:53 pm: Edit |
Then it isn't the same Lohani I am talking about. This Lohani had a Swedish boyfriend with her all the time while I was there.
By Seaman on Wednesday, September 17, 2003 - 02:11 pm: Edit |
Lohani was seen several times at Help in early September. Its like "off the program" and "married to a ____" are portuguese phrases that translate into "only works at Help" in english.
Reason #699 not to marry a programma girl.
By Bwana_dik on Wednesday, September 17, 2003 - 03:06 pm: Edit |
If you marry a programma girl, you damn well better take her with you or stay with her. Last trip I had sessions with two married "ex-programma" girls (one of whom is married to a guy who is or used to be on this board). Hubby lives in the US, but apparently wasn't sending her enough $$ to keep her living the lifestyle to which she'd grown accustomed.
The Lohani that used to work at L'uomo told me she had three guys sending her monthly stipends, and that she was going to marry one (this was in May). She was noncommital when I asked if she was going to be faithful.
By Aldaron on Wednesday, September 17, 2003 - 07:12 pm: Edit |
Well, I can attest to the the fact that she isn't being faithful. She swore she was "off the programma" and had a guy that she called her boyfriend with her a lot.
As far as programma girls, I know the one you are talking about Bwanna. I would never leave a programma girl alone either if I wanted to marry her. With the visa issues, it can be hard to get them out of the country right away though. Overall it is just a bad situation to be in for a guy. I don't trust some of those girls as far as I can throw them. They have been with so many guys that it doesn't seem like a big deal to them to do "just one more", and then it snowballs.
My favorite phrase down there is "working at Help". It almost sounds legitimate.
By Badseed on Thursday, September 18, 2003 - 05:16 am: Edit |
Hahahaha, reason #699 not to marry a garota de programa indeed! Add to that the fact that Brazilians, being for the most part catholic, are therefore institutionally hypocritical (hey, I'm not bashing, I'm catholic too - just call 'em like I see 'em). There's a HUGE difference between "casado na igreja" (church marriage) and "casado no civil" (civil marriage - a signed marriage license). Simply put, "church marriage" counts, "civil marriage" is just a formality (although an important one for getting benifits, joint ownership, etc).
So, if you're really serious about getting hitched to a brasileira, drag her off to a church (betcha she'll balk). If she just arries you "no civil", chances are she's more interested in the "benefits" (green card, your cash) than the marriage itself.
BTW, I've been married 10 years "no civil" only, but that's a whole other story - I hate priests.... ;-)

Badseed, you're dead on target.
OH: I'm not sure where Lohani's husband lives. As to the garota mentioned above, I promised I would not post her picture or mention her name, since that would probably doom the checks from hubby. And since he may be on this board (he was at one time) I don't want to mention where he's from (I have visions of a few guys reading this and wondering "I wonder if Bwana is talking about my wife?) because I'll be in Rio in just over a week and may want to do her again, and I don't want hubby getting wise and interfering.

Program girls are IMHO NOT by definition persons with lower standards.(Gredier, more dishonest, unpleasant attitude).
However the problem with a long term/real (based on love/repect not money/sex) relationship could be fact that they have gone through a period where theire relationships with men has been based just on that:money/sex.
So one can only hope that when a seemingly "real" relationship is established is not just an extention of the relationship they where in previuosly(money/sex). Especialy when it involves a relatively rich foreigner who is an (ex)monger himselfs.

Well said, Aldaron!
Terma girls are what they present themselve as being. What I really can't understand is the number of guys willing to be married to your average USA manipulative bitch who clearly hates men. Terma girls may or may not be ideal permanent mates but I would take them over an USA cunt any time.

If you think your average terma girl is not manipulative and marrying these johns for money, then there is clearly a break with reality here.
Ask guys who live in Rio and are around the scene - how many girls "marry" johns but still fuck random men for money and eventually end up returning to Rio within 1-3 years. I'd ballpark it around 80-90%.
By Catocony on Sunday, September 21, 2003 - 06:48 am: Edit |
1. Every woman on the planet fucks for money and gets married for money. True romance is largely horseshit - how many girls with money hang out with poor guys?
2. How many mongers who marry garotas still pay to fuck random women?
3. If one does decide to marry a working girl, from anywhere, you do have to immediately remove them from their working environment and try and deprogram them.
4. Get a prenup, hide your shit and make sure your lawyer, both in the US and in the garota's country, are on the same page when it comes to the prenup.
I'm not sure that hookers make good wives but I'm also not sure if mongers (including myself) make great husbands either.

We probably all have a story or more about guys sending programa women money -- so here's another one. I met this garota at a terma and had an off and on relationship with her. For whatever reason, she tells me some details about her life. I'll leave some possible identifying details out. * years ago she got divorced, and to support her kid and mother, she started working at *** termas. She met a guy from ***, and he started sending her $$$ dollars a month so that she could get off the programa. He also promises to divorce his wife and marry her. He goes back to his country, and she stays on the programa but switches to a different termas. She only stops working at the termas when he comes to Rio. Over the course of * years she received and made enough money to buy two condos (not expensive ones) and to go back to school. She finally stops working at the termas after the 2 condos are paid for. She now works at an office job and goes to school. The guy is still sending her $$$ a month. Once (post-programa), she took her weekly or monthly phone call from the guy and talked to him as we were banging on the cama. Gives one pause about sending any mulhere money.
By Thumper on Sunday, September 21, 2003 - 06:03 pm: Edit |
I guess I am the only guy on the board who feels bad for these types of guys. Most mongers get a good laugh out of the situation, but I wish I knew them so I could tell them the real deal. To me, there is nothing funny about a hard working guy being fucked over.
I knew a guy whose wife was working at a terma while she was supposed to be in Rio for 5 weeks visiting family. You bet I immediately called him that night to let him know what his wife was doing!
