BTW no need to garota tip at any other place as usually you need to negotiate upfront fee.

I differ with Athos on this issue. Athos is right that you don't have to tip. In general, I do not tip but when something special happens, then you should tip. If you find a girl that you spend alot of time with over the course of the week, and you want to give her something extra then go for it. Whether she is a Help girl, a termas girls or someone that you met at the mall.

Once I offered a tip to a girl in the termas and she turned down with a mysterious fearful look. Later I found out the mafias actually run these termas have some policy against tips behind the doors. One to avoid the situation where the girls steal money from clients/or other girls and claim these are the tips they earned. Other reason is to avoid undue jealousy among the girls.Some place also forbid the girls to solicit drinks/alcohol from clients because they do not want clients left the premises with feelings being pressured.Alcohol can get the girls drunk on the job which management likes to avoid.
There are many other ways to reward the girls: buy drink,cigarettes(put on your tabs) and give to them to avoid the solicitation problem. Well, I finally made it out of Rio to Barra da Tijuca. I took the local bus up & back to Barra. It took about an hour each way. Next time, I plan on taking one of the luxury tourism buses for 4 reais (I believe that you can catch it on Atlantico). Basically in terms of finding where to get off in Barra, I just got off at Barra Shopping (most of the people on the bus get off here and there is a giant rotary) and then walked a mile to the beach. As you walk down the beach heading west the beach gets more & more secluded & scenic. Every couple of hundred yards, there is a "roadhouse" that you can change your clothes at, get a bite to eat or have a beer. The beaches are great in Tijuca; well worth the trip. Next time that I go, I'll probably grab a cab at the mall and have it drive me up the beach until I see a spot that I'd like to hang out at.

As the sun set, I decided to try to checkout a couple of the termas that I saw mentioned on the web. I took a cab to the first one, Paradiso. My cab driver had never heard of it but he stopped several times in route and asked for directions. There was a pool and barbeque and it was surrounded by some beautiful hills; it was really relaxing sitting around the pool in the early evening. At Paradiso the selection was a little lean (as well as very difficult to find) so I doubt that I'll venture back there. They had some pretty women on their websight but I didn't see any women nearly that attractive there though; maybe I just got there a little early. After spending sometime sitting around the pool, I decided that it was time to head out so I walked back out to the main street and grabbed the bus to Recreio (another 1 real investment). Once the bus hit Recreio, I got off and hopped on another bus that was heading back towards Rio on Avenua das Americas. I happened to see the sign for another termas, Ancora do Recreio, out the bus window so I got off the bus to investigate. The setup here was very similar to Paradiso. BBQ, Pool, Boite. Once again, I loved the atmosphere of the place. I think that I'll hit Ancora do Recreio again.

Made it to Monte Carlo the other day. I was very impressed with the talent in there so I hope that all will forgive me for my previous MC/L'umos bashing. I guess the only conclusions that I can draw from my year+ of diligent study of the termas of Rio is that I luv the termas & Rio, the turn over in all the termas is enormous so on any given day the overall level of talent in any of the termas can be great, but if you want a sure bet then head for Solarium. It is the club that i've been to over the last year that has seemed to have the steadiest level of talent. But they all can be great on any given day.

On my previous trip in Feb, I spent the most time in Solarium (like everyday) so I go to at least recognize all the girls (& more than recognize in some cases). It seems to me that almost all the girls in there are new (there are a handful still there from Feb).
