Agree with Layne. With the exception of Sunday night, Help was actually quite impressive. I pulled some real stunners from the Terraço most nights.

here's my review of help during my may/03 trip:

...note, i live in sobe, i'm young and fit enough that i can have my limited (very!) success with garotas/latinas in s. fl, so i'm quite picky...

fri may/16 - help was awesome, tons of 7s/8s/9s, and a couple that i (at sight) would've tried to hook up for days with!

sat may/17 - not like fri, but still good. maybe a handful of girls i would want to do, at the right price.

sun may/18 - had a date, and anyway figured help would be bad on a sunday (i hear wed-fri are best, sat/sun the worst nights).

mon may/19 - i was dissapointed, i only found maybe 2 or 3 girls i would do for pay.

tue may/20 - very dissapointed, i didn't take anyone out, and there were few girls i'd actually hit on if i was back at some night spot in sobe.

wed may/21 - severly dissapointed, i walked in and walked out, seeing nothing i'd even want to do for free.

now, it was not season, and i only had one friday and no thursday nights. still, i was a little, may more, dissapointed with what i found, other than friday and saturday, noting friday was so much better than the others. i suspect this was not a permanent situation, and i will continue to frequent help in future.

on monday may/19 i took home a girl named juliana. i should have known i was in for trouble!

i saw her spending much time with some dude, but i had to keep watching her as she was so stunningly beautiful - long dark slightly hair, quite european looking, nice eyes, about 5'5", very thin and a really great ass.

i was able to speak with her once, and she asked for r$300, and i just passed.

she spent about 25 minutes with this dude, and left. about 20 minutes later, as i was leaving alone, i met up with her at coat check, she was coming back in. i asked if she was ready for r$200 _now_, and she said 'let's go'. i countered, 'but you have to stay until 11' (as in 11a) and we were off to my place.

after some nice making out, we move to the bed, and the trouble starts - she asks for money first. i never pay first, and she explains she's never not gotten money first. i tried every counter arguement in the book, as i've been asked for money first so many times, and never had a problem not ever paying. well, i wouldn't pay, nor would i give here r$200 to leave, nor would i give her r$25 re-entry and taxi to leave. this goes on for about 1 hr, and after about 15 minutes i don't want her anyway.

at one point she says ok, r$200 and pay after, but only for 1 hr... i counter that we negotiated until 11a AT THE CLUB, and her counter is 'no, that was for 11 minutes!!' anyone ever heard of anything more ridiculous??

and then, the most strange thing, after a little over an hour of argument and near violence and her yelling loud enough that i'm fearful neighbors may call the police... she starts with 'i'm sorry, i'm sorry, i'm sorry my love'. i can't count how many times she's apologizing... she blames it on the drinks... and now she wants to be nice and have sex.

whatever... i'm a wreck, shaking from it all. i can barely do her, but i figure, i have to pay the r$200 now, i might as well do it.

i have a restless night of little sleep, and she passes out like a baby.

at 10a i'm forcefully waking her so i can get a morning shot in, and she won't do it (once she's awake). she claims morning sex is extra. gee, i was smart enough to negotiate 11a finish time while at the club, but failed to explicitly state that it included morning sex... give me a break.

i kicked her out so fast that she almost had a shoe mark on the absolutely smoking bunda of hers (best i saw all trip!).

i saw her back at help the next night, and i did my best to warn every guy about her, including interrupting her when she was talking 1-on-1 with a guy.

she was my worst pay-4-play experience of my short time mongering.

As much as a girl might deserve it, I would strongly advise against directly warning others about her services in front of her. This applies to Brazil or any other country.

Remember that you are the tourist and that you're in their home. It's really not much of a stretch to imagine that the girl could tell her guy friends about what you're doing and encourage or pay them to shut you up. It could even be really bad if she's bringing home money to some local dude.

Personally, I would have paid up front and tried to make the most of it. If it was bad, I would have just chalked it up to experience and it would still be a notch on my belt. Also, I wouldn't consider a session with making out a bad one.

I think you might be a little spoiled (not a bad thing) by the average quality of service in Argentina and Brazil. I've been to many places and a story like yours isn't all that uncommon in many parts of the world.

a quick way to get yourself in trouble as a gringo in brasil is to get in the way of a garota making her $$$. once i warned some newbies about a 16yr old they were about to hook with, and when she caught on to this she started screaming at me in front of the whole terrace in front of help. not a comfortable situation. lesson is never get in the way of a brasilian and their $. if it is a close friend of yours then be discreet, but if it isnt.......stay out of it. like dart said, she could be bringing home the bacon to her man, who probably teaches juijitsu.

does this juliana come from sao paulo? there is a juliana i have flirted with for months( who is beautiful by any standards}, that i just never seem to leave with due to some feeling of uncertainty. i have even seen her at rio sul and kissed her there in the mall, but something doesnt seem right. i have a feeling that this is the same girl you came across. drop dead looks and body, but i never see her hanging with a guy, just talking and then alone afterwards.

It happens sometimes in Help but try your best to screen them, but sometimes the table turns. I can say it happened to me on cases from I'm calling my boyfriend to I'm calling the police. I did the Exact things by telling others in help about what happened, but I did it in front of her and she was pissed.
One time a buddy and I had a dispute with two girls because they wanted more $$.

Regardless of your situation, you have to give them something even if you didn't have sex with them. It can be $R40, $R50 or anything because a federal police officer who frequents copacabana beach, were chatting with us and informed about that. 90% of them are just trying to bluff, what you agreed with in the club should be the set price. For some reason, I never heard of a Afro-American guy from the states ever received any extortion.

Uwphoto has a great routine for this I thought ...he places the R200 on the table for them to show them he is prepared to pay no problem..I have used his tactic with great luck with the ones who desire the pay before you play attitude and it saves the session for me at least...

well, if you run into this girl, if she says she always pays first, tell her she's lying, and mention my name...

If you pay first, the odds on her bailing on you after an hour or two is very high.
If you agreed on all night but she wants to leave after an hour just pay her half, most will accept.

Paying at the end sometimes also leads to trouble, depending if she's hardcore.
One time I had garota for the whole night and she went from $R130 to $R300 because she claims I had to pay her extra because it past 7am. We were awake around 9am. She told me I had to pay or else, I stood ground and told her it was her fault by waking up so late. After 30min of arguing, she called me a "son of a bitch" and took the $R130 and was out.

I stopped by at Help last night. The place was half to 3 quarters full by 2am. You could order a drink at the bar without waiting long. Mostly 7's and below. The 2 eights or nine that I approached one wanted 350 reals with a covered b.j. and no pictures. The other wanted 150 usd. I tried to negotiate like hell but they both wouldn't budge. Even if I had Bill Gates money I wouldn't pay that. Guys were getting shot down left and right with the 150 usd girl. I figured since it is the low season it would be a buyers market. Well it is only the superstars still hold out for their high amount. At 330am shacked up for 200 reals includes bbbj and pictures. She was about a 7 in looks, sex performance about 7. Also whats up with the 25 reals admission isn't this the low season. When I was their in Jan 03 it was only 23 reals

Don't know why the entrance price is so high, I figured it would go back down to 18 or 20R once slow season kicked in. Also why the two prices? 15R before 12pm and 25R after.

Guy's, I have been going to Rio consistently since 1995, and have yet to see the entrance go down in price. No matter what the season is.

The price only spikes up twice a year. One is Reveillon (New Year's Eve), and the other is Carnaval week.

Chalk up the regular price increases to inflation. As eslewhere in the world.

Thumper, having a 15R entrance fee before midnight is to encourage the customer to go in and get the action "going". Making the disco more lively early-on. Which in turn can also spur the sale of beverages. Also to help the poorer garotas who do not want to spend the extra 10R to gain entry afterwards. Guy's too!

Thursday, June 5 - very slow evening, less than half or half full. Manage to pull out a girl from vitoria who came to Rio with friends for vacation and trying to make money on the side. She wanted R$400 for all night. Hard negotiation down to R$250 for 3 hours but did stay until 1:00 pm next day.

Friday, June 6 - still pretty much half full. Had my favorita with me and trying hard not to make eye contacts with girls I slept with in the past. Favorita is very jealous..aren't all Brasileiras?

Saturday, June 7- much much better than two previous nights. At least 3/4 full and dance floor was packed. All the ladies I had talked with still quoting at R$300 - R$400 for all night. At 2:00 AM they still wanted at least R$300. Finally found something for R$200 all night.

Sunday, June 8 - Back to being slow barely 1/2 full. Not much of a selection so decided to pull the same girl from Thursday night.

There really aren't that many tourists in town and you can sense it everywhere, on the beach, termas and Help.

I was in Help last Tuesday night. It must of been terma night because I saw 4 girls from Centaurus, 1 from 4x4 and 2 from Luomo. I even saw the one I bonked at Centaurus a couple of hours before. Just a quick update on Help.

I love this place. It was packed in late December - lots of girls but just as many dudes (more dudes than girls some nights). In early January, about the same number of girls and much fewer men... maybe 3:2 women over men. Even Sunday and Monday, which were not so good back in May, were really hopping.

I found Help had prettier girls than any other places (eg. Barbarela, termas, nonpro clubs like Melt on a Satruday PM or Baronetti on a Friday).

The prices seem to be creeping up. Welll, maybe better said is that now more girls are asking or opening at 300R or 500R (or worse... any amount in dollars/euros). Now, maybe with most this is just a opening position, but I found a lot of hotties that won't move below say 300R... more than before I can't say.

There seem to be more high spenders now. I mean, more dudes that get off on the table and bottle scene, and displaying a lot of cash for show. I've got nothing against tables and bottles, but it doesn't help anyone when people throw their cash around. It just shows little sensitivity to local custom and raises prices. If I had to generalize and label these people it would be about equally split between Americans and Italians.

It just rubs me the wrong way when an American yells his order to the bartender in English, then gets upset when the bartender acts as if he doesn't understand the order, and the American comments something like "hey, we're the ones with all the money, learn our language!" No kidding, I saw this three times that I remember. I joked with the bartenders in the bathroom or during a quiet moment at the bar - and I know they understand a little English... anyway...

I still love Help, and would likely plan to hit Help on the majority of my nights where I have no prescheduled date.

Help has some HOTTIES this trip ..but damn they have some difficult attitudes...they have at least 5-7 10s in here a night but not one of them have the attitude to carry into a GFE session...

I'm surprised how many guys in Help this January had no idea what was going on there. One night I ran into four U.S. college students who were clueless. They had no idea these girls were for sale. I gave them a crash course and then proceeded to negotiate all nighters for all four of them.

A couple nights later, I was standing at the coat check waiting for my girl when another couple came down the stairs. As the girl went to the counter the guy leaned over to me and said "is she a prostitute?". I quickly clued him in and told him the price to pay.

So, the deal is, there are enough rubes in Help to make it worth a girls while to throw out high numbers. Hell, she just might be talking to one of these unkowing gomers.

Because of this fact, I had the best luck negotiating at Help and the Terrace by not asking for a price. Instead, I mention price first, which establishes that I'm not a dumb tourist and I know the going rate.

I usually say "Will you go home with me tonight for 100 Reals?"

She'll counter with 200 or 250 to which I'll say 150.

Some of them will agree to 150 while others will say OK but only for an hour or two.

If that happens I'll say "how about 200 for all night".

Of course, this is far from a scientific study. I pulled 5 girls from Help or the Terrace this last trip. Three of them were negotiated that way, while the other two were taken home without any mention of money. Of those two, one mentioned 200 Reals on the way to the cab, while the other almost left the next day without taking the money I had left next to her purse. She actually acted surprised when I caught her at the elevator and handed her the money.
