BTW, is there an equivalent webmistress/website in Brazil (ESCORTS-RIO.COM) like Escorts-argentina.com and Adriana. If not, does anything come close to it?

There are a lot more escort agencies in Rio than Top scort.
Check www.escortgirl.com.br to start which contains agencies links.

Prices may go lower before they go higher...

the 1.4 pesos per dollar is the offical government rate of exchange...Now that the door has been opened for a floating currency, casas de cambio and banks will determine the unofficial rate of exchange. My hunch is 1.5 plus pesos per dollar will soon be the norm....

If the chicas don't inflate their prices in pesos to keep the dollar rate steady, it will, indeed, be a post holiday sale...I can't wait to go back and head straight for the bargain basement!

By Athos on Monday, January 07, 2002 - 04:01 pm:  Edit

If prices of good in Argentina stay the same in pesos, chica prices should stay the same unless customer willing to shell extra cash. In Brazil garotas price is about the same no matter what the value of dollar.

Ezy,

Be careful with the bargain basement chicas. You might get one, and then the next morning, wonder why(grin).

Just like in Brazil and the Real, everybody should start to negotiate in Pesos now. Don't even mention dollars.

As of right now, I have not seen any change from 1 to 1 on the exchange markets yet. This will take maybe to the end of this week or longer before we see a change.

Better times are ahead.

Moondog,I have no intention of traveling half way around the world to bang an ugly woman. Trust me.(Unless, of course, I have had too many cervezas)

Athos, the BA papers report that some merchants are already marking up prices to offset the devaluation...so it is possible that chicas will do the same. The govt. is discouraging price mark ups since it will lead to inflation...I hope they are successful....

I've seen those reports on the BA currency situation. I've had my eye on BA for a while now. I'd be that much closer to going if the already relatively cheap TLN from chicas with model figures were 50% cheaper!!

Now, if I could find a flight from the US in the $3-400 range, I just might jump. I check expedia et al once in a while for rates, but they always seem to hover around $600. Does anyone know a better place(s) to look online for cheap flights to BA?

If you guys decide to go to BA, stay at the ETOILE hotel .........I've made great friends there...and they are very good with the rates..not to mention the fact that you are in the middle of the action in Upscale Recoleta...chicas were impressed when I told them my room was there. The staff...one word...INCREDIBLE!!

No problems with chicas..however, the girl at the front desk was in-love with me..and would get really mad anytime a girl in the lobby asked for me..heck, she would not announce them, or tell them I was not in my room...this of course is solely because she had the hots for me and did not want to share me..otherwise..take care of the very nice doormen and ESPECIALLY the night guy..forgot his name, but very nice guy...he let me bring 4 or 5 chicas at a time at nigth ...funny how far a $50 tip went for the whole week....even when the peso was pegged to the dollar.

When you see him call him "Muneco de Torta" and he'll know I sent you....and take care of you..

I sent an e-mail saying that I was now paying more since the Peso is less than the USD. They replied that the best they can do is an upgrade due to the current economic crisis. It is time to start negotiating mongers. Do not let their economy screw us mongers by charging in USD. any comments?

The travel and tourism industry is quite adept at playing currency confusion to their advantage. This blatant attempt at discrimination is a grossly underreported phenomenon. In South America I would term it "Gringo profiling." We deserve to pay the premium if we are stupid enough not to challenge this practice. Everything is a negotiation. (I suggest you agree on a rate, then ask for an upgrade in return for accepting the offered rate. It works for me.)
Some months ago I contacted a car rental agency in Santiago, Chile, and received a dollar quote on the car. I rejected the quote and said I will only pay in pesos (the credit card will convert at going bank rate), what is the day rate? Well, they quoted me a slightly higher price than at official conversion rate. So I asked my local agent to book the car, but under their name. A Chilena assistant made the arrangements, but the day rate was now almost a third of the gringo price I had been quoted. (For a Mitsubishi Galant I paid $65 for 3 days w. unlimited mileage).

Final tip, be hard on the negotiation, play competitors against each other, use emotion, whatever gets you a great deal. Then be sure to tip the person to signal your satisfaction. They will respect you for not being a rich and spoiled push-over, and they will become your friends for a long time. I once left a hotel in Rio I had just checked into. The manager would not allow my GF in the room, suggested I would "understand this policy" for my own "protection." I have rarely been that furious and insulted. I said I understood only that I was not welcome and would immediately leave. Went straight to another hotel that I normally stay at. They had been fully booked, but after I explained my dilemma to my buddy receptionist, he found a way to get me a room. As I arrive 10 minutes later with garota in tow, we are greeted with champagne and smiles at check-in and a complimentary bottle of wine in the room (upgrade to luxury suite with beach view) and free dinner in the restaurant. You better believe this is the ONLY place I hang my hat in Rio. The receptionist got a prompt $20 and my loyalty for life.
Later I heard they had kicked out some Japanese execs and gave me their room. They were the guys whom I saw in the lobby arguing over a reservation confirmation after they had just landed from Tokyo. C'est la vie.

What a difference from November 2001. There are two different prices here. The www.escorts-argentina.com web site with all of those beautiful ladies, and the clubs, and Cafe Orleans. I had made an appointment with Laura of the previously named web site prior to leaving Los Angeles yesterday. Adriana of the web site assited in the arrangements. I know Adriana personally, but I will never call Laura again. I was supposed to see Laura this afternoon at 5 PM. Called her at 12:30 PM like I said in the e-mail I would, and she said that she could not make it until 6 PM. She also wanted $200 US. I know that the prices are less now, but was willing to pay the $200 because I had some great reports on her. When I called, Laura said that she could not make it until 6 PM. I had previously mentioned that I had obligations just after 6 PM, and would not be able to make it, and that is why I wanted 5 PM. To make a long story short, this lady wants twice as much as most women are getting, and at the same time stands me up. Forget her.

Still wanting to get my plumbing drained, I knew there was always Cafe Orleans (see Moondog¢¥s map). I gut to Cafe Orleans about 1:30, and there was only one chica there. I just could not believe this. I have been here before, and there were so many chicas there, the paying customers could not get a seat.

Well, my plumbing still needed draining so I struck up a conversation with this chica. She was probably about an 8. I started discussing price with her. She wanted 150 pesos. Well, with pesos being almost 3 to 1 US Dollar, this is sounding like a better deal all ohe time. We went to the love hotel around the corner. The quickie room was only 40 pesos. I gave the young lady 200 pesos because I just fealt guilty. What a session! She was really into this. She let me have all the time I wanted, and to try things in any orifice I could put things. It would really be great if the pesos got to be 10 to the US Dollar. Actually, there would be a revolution here if things were that bad, but at 3 to one.

Another note about the Cafe Orleans. Is seems that on the weekends, there are not very many Chicas. When we got done after a couple hours, there were 4 Chicas in Cafe Oreleans, but this is still much lower the previous weekday visits.

To summarize, the prices here are great now. You might want to make sure your person from the www.escorts-argengina.com will show upu, and does not have visions of retiring after one session on your money.

I must say that I have seen several other ladies from the www.escorsts-argentina.com web site, and enjoyed all of them. However, I do not like being stood up after making a reservation a couple of days in advance. Therefor I cannot say anything good about Laura.

Thanks for the update on prices. Any other information you can share will be greatly apprciated.

I'm going to be there in less than two weeks, but so far have found no one on escorts-argentina that has adjusted prices either lower or into pesos. It sounds like calling on the phone may produce more reasonable results with the platynum girls, but I think I'm just going to collect some extra names and numbers from the girls in the clubs and cafe orleans to meet with during the day and on the weekends.

If you notice, the prices have been eliminated from www.escorts-argentina.com. I had dinner last night with Adriana, and she mentioned that the new prices, reflecting the currency situation will be posted in about a week.

In the meantime, with any of these girls(outside of Laura), plan on $100 U.S. for a short time, 1-1 and 1/2 hours. Anything else is what you two negotiate. What days are you planning to be there?

BA prices are wonderful, except for the www.escorts-argentina.com website. The most beautiful girls are there, but they are holding out for their old prices.

On Saturday night in the clubs, the prices were 150 - 200 pesos. This would equate to $50 to $67 US. Most girls seem very happy to get this.

More later in the week.

Í'm going to be in BA on May - 20 - 02 any advice on how I should carry my money down there - with the current banking situation, will I have a hard time changing dollars into peso - or will I have a problem getting my money out of my ATM card - any advice would be helpful since it's going to be my first trip to BA - hopefully it won't be my last.

By uwphoto on Monday, May 20, 2002 - 07:17 am:  Edit

Carry cash and keep most of it locked in a safe at your hotel. The ATMs worked pretty well, but were sporadically available and you don't want to get stuck. If you can, stick to the ATMs, but if the banking crisis shuts down the banks and ATMs again, you don't want to be stuck without any funds. If the ATMs are shutdown, then many of the restaurants and others won't take credit cards either because they cannot get access to the funds to make purchases of supplies. Hotels should be ok with credit cards all the time.

Change $100 to pesos at the airport, but then convert the rest as needed. The airport exchange rates were a ripoff. You will get better prices for everything, including girls, paying in pesos. Most of the restaurants and bars will exchange dollars to pesos at 2.5 or 2.8 to the dollar (with official exchange rate at 3.0 to 3.2). Some of the clubs may use only 2.2.

The best places to exchange your cash are down on Florida avenue near all of the tourist shopping (try the area near Cafe Orleans). The best time to find an open cambio is 11AM until 1PM. Many seemed to have restricted hours. There are official cambios and lots of black market exchanges there too. Watch for signs posted on the cambio windows to see if they are inside the glass or outside. If outside, they are unofficial and from black market exchanges trying to skim business away from the official sites. Black market rates seemed to vary quite a bit.

If you exchange funds, make sure the notes say Banco Federal on them. Do not accept the provincial notes (although the Buenos Aires province may be accepted), I only spent and received federal notes as change. The provincial notes account for one third of all notes in circulation in Argentina, but are potentially worthless. Also, provincial notes are only good in the state that issues them apparently.

I would avoid Traveller's checks as the only place you will be able to cash them is at an American Express office and the official cambios are subject to closure as well.

Hope that helps. If you need specific advice, drop me an email.

By Flyguy on Monday, May 20, 2002 - 08:43 am:  Edit

I agree. When you leave take about 2,000USD just to play it safe and lock it in your safe. Right now, I would not gamble with the ATM's they close down all the time and many do not have cash until late evening hours.

You can use the US currency you take with you to exchange moiney as needed. Try to get a rate of 3.20 to 1. They will sell your dollars for 3.30.

Hotel will try to rip you off with the exchange rate, make sure you know in advance at what rate they are charging you. My friend came to find out that although he p[aid in pesos...the hotel exchanged at 2.70 when he could of just as easily recived 3.10 to 1....

My next word of advise is NEVER pay in US currency to any chica..they are more than happy to recieve 150 pesos for a 1 hr session which is now about 44USD.
Thye will try to test you, and ask you to give them 150USD...laugh and say you only have pesos and will pay no more than 200 pesos.

You will have a great time!! I just got back last week! I'm going to Cartagena next!!

Bring all your budget in USD + 20% for shoppings and gratitutes. Most hotels have electronic safe inside your room or in a safe deposit box center. When I was there middle April 'til 2nd week of May, the banks AND legit cambios were close for three consecutive days and I was glad I brought all my budget.

I will repeat what FlyG and Uwphoto have informed you. Do not x too much at the airport kiosh as they raped you at 2.5pesos for a dollar. When you go playing at the boliche, the clubs, ALWAYS use pesos. Some clubs raped you good at 2pesos for a dollar, take Playwomen as an example. Most restaurants gave you 2.5-2.7pesos per dollar and not a cent higher. When the banks are close by the government, they rape you with their own rate as they even don't have enough cash to run their business and have to hang on to their own.

When you get cash from a bank's ATM, make sure you don't use the ATM which is designated for BANK CLIENT ONLY. It won't spit you any cash. Use the other one.

Black market x locations:

1. Corner of San Martin and Cordoba. Lots of guys will take you to a next door Internet/Telephone Cafe business to conduct the transaction. The flower kiosh right in the front of the internet cafe is another x center.

2. Corner of Suipacha and LaValle is another good one. I have gotten 3.2-1 from here.

Hope this help.

By Ezy on Monday, June 03, 2002 - 07:30 am:  Edit

According to my favorita they have raised thier prices within the past couple of weeks to reflect the 50 percent inflation since the beginning of the year....she says $300 pesos is now the asking price and most girls are trying to hold firm to this rate.

That would be raising their price.

she is a club chica, Cutty Sark....I can't comment on the general scene, though it is not terribly surprising that prices would rise across the board, especially with an inflation rate of 50% since devaluation.....

By uwphoto on Monday, June 03, 2002 - 10:30 am:  Edit

I just negotiated a rate for a meeting later this week from a girl listed on both platynum and escorts-argentina. Her initial request was $120 US dollars for 2 hours. I replied with a statement that it was too high and a fair price would be 200 pesos plus 20 for cab fare. She replied that she usually gets 130 pesos per hour, but that my offer was acceptable.

The exchange rate is currently at about 3.5 to the dollar, so including cab fare, this top notch girl is about $62 for 2 hours. The best thing is, she will be at my hotel within an hour of my arrival! Just enough time to get cleaned up.

The typical rate advertised on escorts-argentina is $100 to 120 US dollars for a short-time session. This would be similar to a 300 pesos rate indicated by ezy above.

I typically paid 150 pesos six weeks ago (April) for short time when exchange rate was 3.0. I do expect inflation to take a toll, but according to the last reports I have seen, inflation is only up about 20% on an annualized rate so far this year for most goods. In particular, the government has held down the prices of energy, which is keeping things in check.

I think that unemployment is rising fast too. I've heard about girls offering for 50 to 100 pesos for a short-time session with other hombres. The sheer numbers of girls will keep prices from rising too high. Supply will exceed demand and that will keep pricing pressure high.

The real check will be to see what the girls at Cafe Orleans are taking ... should be 100 to 150 pesos. I'll post later this week when I have a better grasp on the situation.

I can tell you that the price for the hotel is the same as it was reduced to in April. I'd expect to see those prices rising in synch with the prices girls charge if it is inflation at work.

Thanks for setting the price for the rest of hombres.
Did you negotiate with escort via emails or by tel?

By uwphoto on Monday, June 03, 2002 - 05:25 pm:  Edit

Entire negotiations with this chica was by email. However, ended up sending email to about 15 different chicas over last two weeks. Only two responses ... these chicas don't check their email very often if at all.

I had better luck last trip setting things up by email, but a mixed bag actually showed up and was blown off by two of them.

Some of the girls use agents or receptionists too. One girl last trip told me to call her next time so that she didn't have to share her fee.

As much as I hate to admit it, the best way to do things is call. I prefer using email because I can leverage the online translators and don't have the time pressure of a calling card ticking down. My spanish is still pretty bad.

I did however make contact by phone twice with the two girls from my trip last time (Veronica and Fernanda). It took two calls to get everything straight, but I am set for a repeat session on Friday with them (at least I think that is what I negotiated!) However, we did not talk price ... I paid too much for them last time, so when they show up, I'll make an offer that they either can accept or I'll give them cab fare and look elsewhere. Veronica was so excited when she realized that I was phoning her, so was really difficult to talk to.

The hardest concept in calling ahead from the USA is getting the concept of the date I want them to show at the hotel. They kept saying manyana ... maybe wishful thinking. I finally got the concept that I was not yet into town across to them. Then they wanted to know my hotel room number ... arrggh! Don't have a clue what room number the hotel will give me ... because I'm not there yet.

Anyway, to call a girl from the USA do the following:

011 54 11 xxxx-xxxx

011 is international line
54 is country code for argentina
11 is city code for buenos aires (maybe whole country?)
xxxx-xxxx is 8 digit phone number

If the girl has a phone number that starts with 15 and then an eight digit number, you do not need to specify the 15 when calling from USA. You will need it if calling locally. The 15 is used to identify a cell phone. Calls to cell phones from hotels can be very expensive. Most calling cards charge a higher rate too from USA.

So, if your spanish is good then you have a good chance of being able to connect and negotiate over the phone. For me, I avoided using escorts last time except for the ones that I setup in advance by email. This time, I will certainly be more adventurous, although I expect to spend most of the time with the club/cafe girls.
