This is one of the larger termas in Rio. It is located downtown & another favorite for the locals. 2 bars, 3 locker rooms. Unfortunately no one seems to know about the other bar so everyone crams into the main boite. I went last wednesday night & it was packed. They have a show and the main boite was wall to wall with people and the body heat was unbearable. I was hoping that the heat would kill some of the guys but it didn't happen.

I met a nice morena & we went to the other boite had a nice chat, followed by a swim in the jazzuci suite.

If you suffer from claustrophobia then stay away from this termas otherwise you might like it.

Youngtom, You seem to be one of the board experts on Termas,and I'm a little confused.I'll be in Rio for the first time New Years.Have to check out a couple of Termas.I know you can pay the clubs with a credit card,but do you pay the girls seperate?Do I have to bring any cash with me for that?

Indeed YT has great knowledge of Rio and termas.
The top 3 termas are Rio Antigo, Solarium and Centaurus.
You pay for services when you leave either by cash or credit card. It you use cc, they charge an extra 10% for garota costs.
Only exception is Centaurus where you have to pay everything except drinks upfront.
You get a wristband with a numbered key so that's how they know how to charge you.
There are 2 or 3 types of services, regular service is cabin for 40 mn which is usually enough, typically you lose up to 5 mn as garota sometimes changes clothes and picks up paraphernalia in bag.
You can get suite for an hour which includes jacuzzi and showers. Rio Antigo has also suite without jacuzzi available, best choice imho, still showers there.
All the above thermas are super clean, you can take showers before and after, sauna, steam room and professional massage available.
Session is timed so garotas always hope for 2 cumshots. Expect plenty of cuddling and kissing after cumshot. They will kiss you until phone rings or you're tired of it.
I like Rio Antigo as it is laid back so I can unwind.
Centaurus has the best selection, by 7:00 pm, but more $.

You can get by with Spanish, but you have to speak it like the TJ girls do to us. You have to remember to go slow and don't assume that everything is being understood. Some of the girls prefer English. I met a "garrota programa" at a restaurant the other day who had lived in England for 6 years. The day before that a terma girl who had lived in Spain for a number of years. Basically the only problem is with new girls from the countryside who have not been in multi-lingual environments before. In that case throw in the towel as gracefully as possible, or just start kissing her. It's your choice.

The Tallman was in Rio twice during 2000. The Tallman does not speak a single word of Spanish let alone any Portuguese. I traveled alone and visited most of the Termas along with the night clubs, beaches, etc..

I had noticed that you seemed to be sharing information on points considerably south of TJ. Perhaps you can share a little more of your adventures from time to time.

4x4 has turned out to be my favorite termas in my two trips to Rio. At L´Houmo and Monte Carlo I had nights when I couldn´t find what I wanted, but no such problem here. The price is right too: a 1 hour session is R$140.
I hate the place itself. The passageways are long and confusing, and when crowded the heat can be unbearable. I swear if they pulled off the side of the building it would look like an ant colony. The downstairs boite gets packed and it´s hard to navigate. But the assortment of women is great. I could fuck them all! (and I´´m trying to )

On an ordinary week, I might get there at 4PM, and there will be a handful of guys in the boite. It really starts to fill-up with locals after 5PM. At 6PM, it's -- as you so correctly put it -- sardine time. If you get there at 3PM, you may be the only guy in the boite. There are advantages to getting there at 4PM or earlier. You do get to see the women as they arrive, and you can get to know them in a sedate (for Termas 44) environment and manner. Given the crowded dynamics of this place, this might be the last time you see some of the women, and the only chance to vamos with them.

When I was there during New Years, a lot of guys must have taken New Years week off, for there was a surprising number of guys in there by 3-4PM. (BTW, The same was true for Temas Rio Antigo.) The ordinary week hours were bumped up an hour. If it is open during Carnaval (how can they shutdown this goldmine during prime time?), I suspect getting there by 3PM would be good strategy.

One interesting thing about this place is that there are so many (125-175) women, but only about a third of the guys are there to fucky-fucky. Conseqently, some of the women (even the 8s and 9s) seem almost grateful that you chose them.

Wilmaflint - I think that you are right that 4-5PM is a good time to go. I've noticed that time frame also works well for Rio Antigo, Termas 65 and Centarus. I guess since many of the guys are locals (so they have to go to work during the day), the arrival schedules of the girls reflect this. If you get that at little before the crowd, you can establish a beach head and get a chance to pick a good girl. Although at Centarus 5-6Pm is probably a better time; since the front door opens at 4PM it is totally empty in there a 4PM.

If I were a local (especially, if I were a retired and newly minted local -- how I envy you, Ranger) I would like to hang out at this place for R20 ($8). And free black bean soup too.

Heard some good stuff about MonteCarlo though.

A lot of the girls start at 3pm, some days 5pm. I had a hit list of about a dozen I wanted to do, and I'd try to be their first of the day, so I'd try to get there around the time they started. The place opens at noon, so I assume there are girls that work until 8 or 9. They also have strip shows, and I believe the first is around 7pm, then there's others but I never figured out the schedule. To me, a strip show in a place where the girls are nearly naked in the first place isn't that much of an attraction, but the shows get funny when they pull guys out of the audience.
There is live music in the upstairs boite on Thursdays, starts around 7pm.
The place closes around midnight or 1am, and before the last hour or so they girls get a little more agressive for finding a last customer. If the don't they get dressed and go home. I like hanging around outside to see what they look like in street clothes: some of them you'd never suspect of being on the program.
Athos: eye of the beholder and all that; my taste is for sexy/attractive everyday woman-types that turn my head on the street, as opposed to the distant supermodel/hardbody type. I also like them olive skinned or lighter, and am pleased with what I find here.

I think this place opens at 2pm during the week. Last summer, I arrived at around 1pm and they didn't open until 2pm that day. There was a really pretty, well dressed beauty that was sitting by the front door awaiting a job interview. I offered to help out on the interview but they wouldn't let me in. I'm still in love with that one. I wasn't going to sit around for an hour in Rio so to make the best of a bad situation I walked over to Aeroporto & had a nice time.

Terma 4x4 and 65 are loacted in streets parallel to each other. So if you find one, you're about 2 min from the other one.
By metro take the Uruguaiana stop, walk south towards Rua Buenos Aires 1/2 a block, make left on Buenos Aires towards ocean, I am reading the map that I have since I have never been to 4x4 but no more than 5 blocks to reach terma. Ave Rosario where 65 is located parallels Rua Buenos Aires for 7 small blocks.
By bus, take a taxicab the first time to get your bearings as I went to 65 by bus with YoungTom and would never be able to take the bus and find my way around.
Also street numbers for each street seem to follow their own pattern so being on a parallel street do not trust numbers to find your way.

Here are some supplemental instructions to Athos'.

Here are some directions to Termas 4x4 if you were taking the bus from Copacabana. Catch Central bus on Ave Nossa Copacabana. Bus takes a left onto Pricess Isabella & goes thru tunnel. Shortly thereafter bus ends up speeding along the coastal road (it is called Ave Infante Henrique here; not Atlantico like in Copacabana) for about 10 minutes or so. As the bus approaches downtown/Airport Santos Dumont, it gets off the expressway on Ave Beira Mar & goes local. You will past Termas Aeroporto on Ave Beira Mar & then the bus will take a right onto Ave Pres. Antinio Carlos after 1 block. Termas 4x4 is located about 13-14 blocks straight ahead on Buenos Aires (when you pass Palacio Tiradentes you are about half way to Termas 4x4.

Once you get to Ave Buenos Aires then take a left onto Ave Buenos Aires then go down maybe a couple of hundred yards & it is located on the right side of the street Ave Buenos Aires #44.

Right on YT, Buenos Aires is exactly 14th street on your left hand side when bus on Ave Pres Antonio Carlos.

By, Metro you can use the Uruguaiana stop to get to 4x4 or 65, but I wouldn't even use it to go home at night. The Uruguaina stop is on the edge of a flea market, and if you want to do some budget shopping, the walk to the termas is a good time killer. The Carioca and Uruguaiana stops are about the same distance to the termas, but overall, I think the Carioca stop is better, and certainly better for a first timer. The Caricoa stop is a half block or block from Rua Branco. I use the Carioca stop at night but that's a judgment call for each person to make for themselves. If you feel at all uncomfortable at night in Centro take a taxi -- to Solarium.

Termas 4X4 was the only bad termas experience I had in Rio.The girl was at least a 9 but very so mechanical I couldn't even get a nut with her.I know a lot of mongers like the place,but I found it kind of dingy.Maybe it was those 2 little roaches I found running around in my locker when I first got there,but my whole time there I never really got comfortable.Of course that dud I picked didn't help.I just paid my bill,and just about ran out of there.Went back over to Solarium which of course was rocking.

4x4 isn't one of my favorites either as I've also arrived when it was empty or when there were so many people that it was riculous.

One can have a bad experience with a particular woman in any termas; not often but it happens.

Billcnk- on your next trip, if you return to 4x4 you might find that you love the place. But my experience over the last year is that Solarium is always good so spend alot of time there

More March recap...This time 4x4 was my favorite stop on the termas circuit. It still had the 125-150 women and--as YT puts it--sardine-can conditions. Like Thumper, I like the sardine can, because you are free to roam without feeling conspicuous. (In some termas, I've learned women and their friends will track you and even check how many or who you've already had.) You can nonchalantly stand next to women and get a good look.

When I have a taste for a 9, this is where I go. There is always, at least, one 9 out of 150 women; sometimes there can even be two or three 9s. And we all know that finding a 9 at a termas ain't easy. Moreover, I will just go up to her and say, "Vamos." No foretalk--just vamos. They give you a stunned look, smile and then grab your hand. I just can't get over how genuinely grateful these women can appear to be just by your choosing them out of the sea of women that are there.

I've learned that you don't get much boite foreplay here, anyway. If you do, it'll usually (not always) just be verbal foreplay, and your Portuguese has to be relatively good. The women here are fed up with all the Brasileiros trying to get freebie makeout sessions. However, an hour here, right now, is 140R, which is what 40 minutes costs everywhere else; so, I figure the first 20 minutes is makeup boite time, except you can do a lot more. And 80% of the women here are lesbians.

I absolutly loved this place, just because of the volume. If you pick a girl and hang out for a bit before you hit the cabine, there's a 99% chance you'll get hit with a bad case buyers remorse.

I'm still kicking myself in the ass for only going there once in my 10 days. Sorry.. I got distracted. I won't let it happen next week.

Excellent post, Wilma... Yours is the first that REALLY makes me wanna check out 4x4... God, I love to draw out the fore-play in the boite, but your reasoning for brightening a garotas day by a simple 'let's rock' sounds fun (and probably beneficial too) - economicaly sound as well, given the time you get and the prices.

The boite foreplay is what makes a terma more than simply a brothel for me. It's what makes it work for me. The challenge of stretching the boite foreplay time to the max is great fun. But, sometimes, you have to change your gameplan to fit the playing field. Consider and treat your first 20 minutes as boite foreplay. Ease into the hour. On the other hand, you can try for the hat trick.

When "sardine time" happens, head for the back bar (I think that it is always open). Pick your girl, have her go get the drinks, then head for the back bar. If my memory is correct to get there from the main bar, you would head for the men's restroom (past the changing area), hang a right at the men's room, down the flight of stairs, go past another changing room or two, then up the circular stairs and alas you're in the other bar. Now you have lots of space for some boite foreplay and the temperature in the back bar is about 20 degrees cooler than the front bar.

Some of the girls actually prefer if you buy them a drink and sit with them in the back boite before going for the deed. I prefer it myself.

I've never seen much foreplay in the salon. It seems to be verbal foreplay, and if your Portuguese isn't great, you're back to the hand games. But I haven't spent a great deal of time in there, and I could easily be missing something. You can get free black bean soup in there. It's thick and warm and good.

If you are sitting with a woman in the boite and she senses she might lose you (e.g. You've got wandering eyes.), she will want to get you back to the salon. In the boite, they're worried about you seeing something better. Temptation is great in there, and you probably will. They all prefer to be the salon with you. There is much less temptation and competition there. I've had a few say something like, "I'm going to the salon, want to come with me?" Obviously, she is testing the waters, and if you say, "I like the boite." (Eu gosto da boite.) I guarantee you that she will remain by your side in the boite. I hoped that some would go to the salon. If you've made up your mind already, take her up there and get whatever you can. However, if you haven't made up your mind, she may interpret you acceptance of going up there as a sealing-the-deal-type sign. It might get dicey if you ditch her there. Afterall, just taking that long walk back there is a big investment of her time.

An unnecessary suggestion, but what the hell...If you insist upon getting boite foreplay here, it is best to be standing up in a relatively inconspicuous spot. Eventually, the women with wandering hands and lips will find you and have full access to you.

Remember, two-thirds or three-quarters of the brasileiros in there are not there to fucky-fucky. Entrance is just 20R, and most are there to relax, do some male bonding, be macho in front of their friends, flirt and, maybe, get a free handful. The women are looking for YOU, MR. 4X4 is pretty cheap with 10R discount if arriving before 5:00 PM. Pretty big club, lots of women 60 to 80 but mostly in the 7.5 range.
What bothered me seemed to be the lack of making out before the deed as several garotas just asked me upstairs 2 min into conversing.
1 hour suite will set you back about 160R.

rock3 - question for ya. 4x4 is an enormous place. I know about a back bar ( go out of main bar, past men's room, down some stairs, down a hall, up some stairs and your there). This is where I head to hang with a garota. Is this the same bar? In the bar that I head for the walls are line with furniture that is more like a big plastic bench. Where are the sofas?

I had two sessions at an hour per which should have cost me 330r including the entry fee. Upon exit, my bill was 180r. I didn't say a word, just paid up. I was feeling peevish because the wenches at the front desk tried to extort a tip from me. Anyway, I sure hope it was the establishment that took the hit and not one of the girls I was with.
